Can persistant headaches be caused by past injuries involving your head being hit against hard objects?

I know caffeine, stress, emotional, physical abuse, alcohol, smoking, can all be the cause of my headaches but alot of times i get severe headaches that cause pressure in the back of my head causing a headache. In the past ive had many injuries to my head, like ive hit my head against things and also been beating in the head by a family member with their hand against my head. How Serious are these headaches? Should I go and see a neurologist?
----------

You should talk to your doctor about them, and ask for a CT scan or an MRI. Following the results of these tests, your doctor will be able to tell you if there's a physical problem or if you should be looking at a chemical cause.  (+ info)

Scanning is very expensive and some people believe that we are over-scanning head injuries?

Scanning is very expensive and some people believe that we are over-scanning head injuries and this is just a waste of time and money.

What is your opinion on this?
----------

I agree. They made me get a CAT scan for a head injury once when I didn't really feel that I needed it.

I am also pretty sure that something was wrong with the machine because they didn't give me any contrast dye-- but I got "burns" on my hand and face. My skin is still weird on that part of my hand.  (+ info)

How have head injuries affected athletes?

Cognitively
Neurologically
Examples needed please.
How do coaches react to these head injuries...
I obviously know the broad things that could result from a head injury.
But its for a reasearch paper and I need to go in depth with these results.
Cognitive Damage
Neurological Damage
Coachs Reactions and so on...
----------

Mohammed Ali would be an obvious example. There was a good 60 Minutes piece on Traumatic Brain Injury and sports--athletes and coaches were interviewed about the subject. Maybe it's on youtube. There are football players in their 40-60s who can't find their way home from the grocery store due to multiple concussions. Eric Benoit was a pro wrestler who murdered his wife and son after years of head injuries. When they autopsied his brain, they found that there was severe damage and said it looked like the brain of someone suffering from severe dementia--lots of white spaces signifying the death of cells.  (+ info)

Can head injuries caused when you were younger cause you to have really bad headaches?

Head injuries cause speech loss to infants?

Does head injuries to an infant cause speech loss? My cousin has fallen a couple times and he hasn't said much except maybe a bit of baby giberish. I want to know if it might be serious.
----------

infants that have been abused or shaken babies syndrome, most don't ever talk, depending on the severity of the injuries.

for a child to fall and not be talking if it was a sever fall where the skin was split open then maybe but most of the time it isn't likely a child can fall hard enough to hurt themselves.

My youngest was running fell into a corner of the wall at about 1 1/2 his forehead stuck to the wall, I freaked out my older son walked over yanked his head off the wall and blood just ran down, we went to the ER and his skull was not broken, and instead of doing stitches they used a special glue to shut the wound. He is find and talking fine.

There could be other issues with not speaking such as the child developes a little differently, or maybe autism or something else.

Maybe they should be evaluated, there are several programs for children we have a PAT, parents as teachers it is ran through the school they meet as early as when the child is in the womb to about 3 or the start of pre school  (+ info)

What injuries result from being pistol whipped in the head?

I need a counterargument for a law paper, and I need to find out how serious the injuries would be.
thanks!
----------

Depending on how hard the person is hit, injuries could be almost anything: bruises, a concussion, cuts or scrapes, fractured skull, subdural hemorrhage. Fractured skull or bleeding under the skull, putting pressure on the brain, could lead to permanent brain damage or even death.  (+ info)

What to do if you have several head injuries in 2 days?

I was at a concert and a guy was crowd surfing and he landed on my head after kicking me in the head. Then the next day i hit my head (on the same side as the guy that kicked me) on a shelf. I have felt very tired and out of it since the incidents. What should I do about this, or is there reason to worry? My forehead is swollen and scratched up, and the side of my head is very sore to the touch and I have had a headache since the night of the kicking incident.
----------

If you had a concussion, it's likely that in addition to the headaches, you'd probably be nauseous and possibly have some memory loss.

Still... if the headaches persist, you should have a doctor check you out!  (+ info)

is it possible to get head and neck injuries after riding in a very bumpy truck or bus?

I recently rode in a mtruck that was very bouncy. It got to the point when it felt like I was sick to my stomach and I never get motion sickness from riding in a car. Eventually, the truck broke down on the side of the highway but thats beside the point. Anyway, I am concerned that all of the bouncing cause internal injuries including brain. Does this sound reasonable?
----------

No your body naturally cushions your internal organs. Unless something actually bluntly impacted your body by physical hits, you are not injured. You may be experienceing some whiplash effects where your head and neck hurt from constant jerking motions.  (+ info)

Could a blow to the stomach cause head injuries to a unborn child?

I have been concerned about the shape of my youngest daughters head, it's as if the back of her skull has been crushed.
I have now found out that my ex was punching herself as hard as she could in the stomach, hoping to miscarry as she 'wanted this f*cking alien out of her'.
Could this have damaged a childs soft skull?
----------

How old is your daughter?

If she's a new born and was born vaginally, then the "cone-head" shape is normal, and is because the bones in the head are softer, so that they can squeeze out. As the bones fuse together, the head should look more normal-ish.

However if you think it's more than the cone-head, the health visitor would have said something if something was wrong.

But still, go and check it out with a doctor next time you've got her if it's shared custody.

Punching your stomach, can cause miscarriage, but baby is pretty well protected in there, so it might not be the punching.  (+ info)
