What causes sudden hearing loss with periods and abdominal pain?

I experience sudden hearing loss and vision loss when I have sudden menstrual cramps (Dysmenorrhea). This also happens when I experience abdominal pain related to diarrhea or constipation, which sometimes happens right before my period starts. Sometimes the GI system and the uterus are both affected at the same time.

When I lose my hearing, all I hear is ringing, and everything turns bright, unless Im in a dark hallway. Indoors, I cant see. I think my pupils dilate and the blood flow to my ears constricts. What causes this?

There could be a number of possibilities going on such as endometriosis (just using endometriosis as an example only) but the only way to know for sure what is going on is to see your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.  (+ info)

What would cause sudden but temporary hearing loss?

I'm writing a book in which a character needs to have instant, complete hearing loss which does not go away on its own, but remains until treated.

Preferably caused by trauma or infection, but it needs to to happen very quickly and be reversible.

Anyone have any ideas?

Can sudden loss of hearing make someone go insane?

Say someone has perfect hearing since they were a baby, and then later on in life they experience some terrible accident that makes them go deaf. Would this person have a bigger chance of going insane because of the huge change? What if this person had a sever case of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)? Would that increase the chance of that person going crazy?
ha I'm not planning on making anyone deaf! I was just curious....I didn't know this question would spark so much suspicion.

I'd say most definitely! Hearing loss is a very traumatic event for people who have always had it. It's not only scary but overwhelming to think about not ever being able to hear again.

Luckily, society has made huge strides in recent years to both accommodate and help those people. Unfortunately it does happen, and is very difficult to overcome at first, but I honestly believe that we were made to mentally overcome our difficulties and become stronger because of it:)  (+ info)

40 Year old woman sudden hearing loss and funny noises and feelings on right side of face?

I have occasional numbness and tingling on the right side of my face. My ears sometimes have a really highpitched ring, clicking, and even a pulsating sound. Sometimes I have a super sharp pain in my ear, up and around the temple. In the last year I have noticed that my hearing on the right side is diminished. My right eye and lip often spasm.

Can anyone recommend a natural remedy for sudden hearing loss?

If you have sudden hearing loss go to the ENT (Ear-Nose-Throat Doc) RIGHT AWAY!!!!!

I am an audiologist. Patients who come to the ENT right away find out what's going on. If it's wax, it can be removed in the office. If it's an ear infection, you can get antibiotics. BUT if it's a sudden sensorineural hearing loss, treatment with steroids (usually prednisone) ASAP improves patients' chances of recovering their hearing. It is also true that delaying treatment increases your risk of not recovering hearing. This is my clinical experience.

PLEASE, do not delay. If you want to ask about natural remedies, please have your hearing tested first to know the cause.

Sudden pressure and loss of hearing on left side of head while (internally) hearing and feeling heart pulses?

I have expereinced this on occassion over the years but more often lately. Just sitting at my desk for example, I suddenly feel a huge pressure on the left side of my kneck and ear, I lose my normal hearing but can hear and feel my heart beat/pulse. It seems loud and heavy and happens for about 5-10 seconds then goes away. It happens most often when I am at rest. I am 45, don't smoke, have not had high blood pressure before and am in generally good health. Any idea what this might be? I plan on checking with my doctor but love to do a bit of research myself.

Tinnitus is a noise that originates within your ear rather than from an external source. The sound may be described as hissing, squealing, buzzing or roaring. In pulsatile tinnitus, the sound follows the same rhythm as your heartbeat.

Tinnitus isn't a disease. It's a symptom that can have a number of causes, including accumulated wax in the ears and exposure to loud noises. Pulsatile tinnitus, also called objective tinnitus, may be due to irregularities in a blood vessel that passes into or close by the inner ear. Although the noise of tinnitus may be annoying, the condition is rarely a symptom of a serious underlying problem.

Sometimes, a doctor can hear the sounds of pulsatile tinnitus with a stethoscope. Treatment depends on the underlying cause. Your doctor can discuss with you steps you can take to reduce the severity of the noise or to better cope with the noise.  (+ info)

how come i have sudden hearing loss?

for a few seconds, then my hearing comes back again? when this happens i hear a high pitched ringing then it goes away.
should i be concerned about this? is this a sign of a ear problem?
----------

Truthfully? I dont know. I am an audiologist, and the exact same thing happens to me. Ive never gotten a straight answer for it myself.

I suspect its a transischemic attack in the ear...just a small, slight interruption of blood flow that resolves benignly and quickly.

Personally....Im not to worried when it happens to me.

If you find an answer, I would love to hear it lol.....,  (+ info)
