What is the exact mechanism that causes you to hemorrhage? And what cells to hemorrhagic fevers target, specifically Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever?

Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever targets human monocyte-dendritic cells, which aid the immune system and the vascular system control. Hemorrhagic fevers cause you to bleed by damaging these types of vascular cells, thus making bleeding harder to control and weakening the blood vessel walls. When the blood vessels are weakened, the blood vessels burst.

my son has had a fever for the past few days and just happened to have a seizure because of the high fevers...they took blood from him..n now i am wondering what type of viral infections there are that have absolutely no symptoms..if u find anything please let me know!!!

and i mean, in a throat-type thing. i'm not sure whether i have strep throat or bacterial tonsillitis or just a viral infection. & do your fevers have to be high for it to be a bacterial infection?
You can get both at the same time!

General rule is if what you're coughing up is clear then it's viral. If coloured then it's bacterial.

My 9 yr old became sick on Christmas day. He had a fever of 103 (no reason to panic in itself, his fevers are always high, but easily controlled with ibuprofen & lukewarm showers), and a headache & sore throat. No coughing, no runny nose. I took him to his Doctor, and she said it was a virus. Well....it's Jan 5th now, and he still has the headache & fever (100 day, 102 at night). I called the Dr. today, but the office never got back to me.
Viral infections may be short-lived or last a while. Too many factors to say for sure as it's different for everyone every time.

The best way to reduce the discomfort of sore throat is to take pain meds like Tylenol or Advil (acetominofen or Ibuprofen).

Warm beverages and soups are also soothing to the throat.

Gargling with warm salt water is effective at soothing and also for helping to reduce the viral infection. Good oral hygiene when you are sick is also good -- brushing your teeth and using antiseptic mouthwash (like Listerine brand) are helpful to reduce the level of viruses in your mouth.

There are also tons of products such as throat lozenges and throat sprays that are soothing. For lozenges, I have found that the most effective active ingredient is:
hexylresorcinol
But there are not very many products that have it. Instead you will probably be able to find products containing other active ingredients.

The brand Cepacol is generally the most effective lozenges available (in the USA). Here is their website:

I think there is a conspiracy going on by the government to not let us in on a pandemic outbreak of several viruses. The first one was the Adenovirus outbreak which is still going on and could be of a sometimes deadly strain. Then now there's something else out there, I don't know what it is but it involves coughing and fevers, might be a strain of the flu. Anybody else seeing people dropping like flies?
Depends on which country you live in. In UK we have been dropping like flies with a flu virus that even the flu jabs couldn't prevent. Symptoms were the usual ..fever, body aching headaches and a really bad cough. I had a small cough Christmas day and by boxing day was really ill. It took me three weeks to feel better, and I lost a lot of weight as I totally lost my appetite. However I am still coughing like mad. I was given 3 different antibiotics along with three different steroids over that period. and for the first time in my life (I am 55) an inhaler which does help with the coughing. However I do feel totally drained still and have hardly any stamina...I'm getting stronger day by day but it totally floored me I can tell you. I don't think there is any conspiracy going on as we have had many comments and news in the media.  (+ info)

Get the tests run. Medical professionals are the worst at seeking medical attention because they feel they can treat themselves, or know what to do when a crisis arrives. Suck up your pride and do what it takes to find out what's wrong.  (+ info)

Viral infections back to back in a 2 year old?

I have a 28 month old kid who has had viral infections back to back for the past 3 months. She does not show any other signs, just the fever. Every time I have taken her to the doctor the check her urine, ears, throat, etc and everything is clear. She goes to daycare full time and the doctor said this is normal fro kids who go to daycare. Her fever is about 101.5. What should I do? thsi is the thrird time is happening to her in the past 4 months. The even did some blood work and everything was fine except her iron level is a little low. Could thsi be causing the fevers?
Iron deficiency wouldn't cause fever. It would cause fatigue and a bunch of other weird symptoms like a heart murmur, irritability, weakness, pale skin, etc. Low iron is pretty common, and she might have it because her body is fighting off so many illnesses.

Your doctor is right, tho. Illness is pretty typical with children in daycare. My nieces and nephews in daycare are sick constantly, especially during this time of year. My little nephew was hospitalized with pneumonia two weeks ago. My other nephew has had a constant runny nose for two years. They've all contracted RSV, and two have been hospitalized for it before.

Daycare is a total germ fest. It sucks. But on the bright side, they're developing super immune systems and are at much lower risk of getting leukemia!

Just watch your little one. If she were seriously ill, she would be behaving very strangely. Since she doesn't have any other symptoms, she's probably okay. =D  (+ info)

My husband falls sick in viral fever in every 3 to 4 months or sometime 4 to 5 months. Then after taking antibiotic medicines and the mediation given by doctor, he gets well in 5 days. For that we consulted doctors in so many standard well reputated hospitals in many cities. All kinds of test were performed. Nowhere anything wrong was found. Everytime doctor concluded it as viral fever. Can somebody tell me how to get rid of this problem.
