Physicians come on this site. Also, people will have experienced something very similar so they will share things on here (which is what this site is for) why don't you useless people either ignore a question that you cannot answer or think about joining another site.

Hello, sorry to hear about your father. Unfortunately, it is difficult to answer your question without knowing the details of your father's stroke and condition. There are different types of hemorrhagic strokes and the severity can vary. For example, a hemorrhagic stroke can be direct bleeding into the brain tissue, which is known as a parenchymal hemorrhage or intracerebral hemorrhage. Another type of hemorrhagic stroke is a subarachnoid hemorrhage in which the bleeding is in the fluid (CSF) surrounding the brain. The symptoms and outcomes from these two types of stroke can be very different. Therefore it is difficult to say the prognosis in your father's case without knowing the details of the bleed.

The prognosis for intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) depends on the location of hemorrhage, size of the hematoma, level of consciousness, patient age, and overall medical health and condition. In addition, preceding oral anticoagulation therapy (e.g. Heparin or Coumadin/Warfarin), and possibly antiplatelet therapy (Aspirin, Plavix) appears to be associated with worse outcomes after ICH. The ICH volume on initial head CT scan and level of consciousness on admission may be particularly important prognostic indicators. Based on studies, the 30-day mortality from ICH ranges from 35 to 52 percent; one-half of these deaths occur within the first two days. Furthermore, only a small number of patients function independently after the event. In a study of 166 patients with spontaneous ICH from a large US metropolitan area, only 12 percent were normal or minimally handicapped at 30 days. The outcomes for other types of hemorrhagic stroke like subarachnoid hemorrhages are also not very good, but it varies. Sometimes surgical intervention can result in better outcomes for ICH.

In regards to your father it is best to ask the doctors who are currently taking care of him. I do not mean to scare you regarding the above information, but unfortunately it is the facts. Rehabilitation with physical, occupational and speech therapist can help some people regain some of the function they loss after a stroke. Discuss it with his doctors. Sorry I could not give a better answer. Best wishes to you and your father.  (+ info)

I had an ultrasound scan and found a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst,i have been ttc for 6 months, can this affect me?

i had an ultrasound scan today and they found a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst on my right side,i have been ttc for 6 months, can this affect my chances of getting pregnant? do i need a surgery for this cyst ? does anyone have this problem before ,please tell me your experience .
----------

Ovarian cysts will usually not effect your ability to have kids. For the majority of women, the presence of ovarian cysts has no impact on their ability to conceive. Typically, ovarian cysts remain small and don't interfere with ovulation or conception. Often hemorrhagic cysts will go away themselves.

If you have polycystic ovarian syndrome, this can cause fertility problems but having an ovarian cyst is NOT the same as having PCOS - they are 2 very distinct conditions.

The conventional approach to treating ovarian cysts is either birth control pills (not if you are ttc), do nothing, or surgery, but surgery is really not necessary & should be a last resort.

I believe in the holistic treatment approach for ovarian cysts. It's totally natural, treats the underlying cause of the cyst and addresses issues such as diet, your metabolism, and your hormones. If you can get these right, you will get rid of your cyst naturally and forever, without the need for drugs or surgery.

There's a good site below with articles and more information. Hope this helps, and good luck.  (+ info)

How well do Hemorrhagic stroke patients do after a year?

Support group is excellent, but concern about improvement. No movement on right side, can't stand or sit alone. Also, on J-Tube and coughs severly at night. Very worried about husbands future.

----------

I used to tell families that a hemorrhagic stroke could be the best prognosis, or the worst, depending on the site and size of the lesion.
The recovery curve is the steepest (most significant) in the first year. After that, improvement can happen, but it is painfully slow and usually not significant enough to change the eventual outcome.
It sounds like your husband must have had a big hemorrhage, since you say he has no use of the right side, can't sit on his own (poor trunk control) and is still on a j-tube. The severe coughing at night means he still isn't able to protect his airway.
If you can lay him on his left side at night, that should help the coughing because the saliva will trickle down to the stronger side, making it easier to swallow.
Sorry to say, but he's highly likely to remain as he is now.  (+ info)

Is septicemia a probable consequence after urethral operation on a kidney patient stage 5 or is it malpractic?

I have a strong impression that the doctors should have taken particular attention to this type of patient. Please answers from profesionals.
----------

Yes but it will depend on how long after the operation did the "septicemia" occur. Likewise you need to prove that the doctor omitted something that could have caused the infection in the first place. Your question is quite specific but we need a whole lot of details about what happened before it can be labeled as malpractice.  (+ info)

How bad is Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia?

There is a 50/50 chance I have it because i inherit it from my mom. But how bad can it affect my life?
----------

Well you'll get anemia and lots of reoccurring nosebleeds and will need bloodtransfusions. however if it becomes really bad you can get surgery to help you lead a normal life. All in all this is an expensive disease but eventually if treated right shouldn't affect your life that much.

PS you should get MRI's to see if you have one  (+ info)

Could a 2 week old baby's bellybutton infected with Strep A cause septicemia and an abscess?

The abscess being at the top of leg going behind stomach. Blood cultures come back with nothing and no other symptoms other than fever.
The abscess being at the top of leg going behind stomach. Abscess was found by a CT scan and the belly button was swabbed. Blood cultures found no infecteous disease that could explain the septicemia. It is claimed that the infected belly button could not have caused the septicemia.
----------

I don't understand....if a blood culture came back with nothing how is there septicemia and Strep A?? The culture would have shown both if it was at all present in the bloodstream. If you are saying the babys bellybutton is infected, and it was the abcess they cultured, then the abcess has nothing to do with the other.  (+ info)
