Can a person having hepatitis B antigen negative donate blood?

I have hepatitis B antigen negative and I wanna donate blood. Is it NOT harmful to the receiver?
I have taken hepatitis B vaccine 3 times last year, but my antigen is still negative. I am taking 2nd time this year and I have already taken first shot.
----------

Hepatitis B antigen tells you whether or not you are infected with the virus. You want that to be negative.

When you get the hepatitis B vaccine you are supposed to get hepatitis B antibodies. So you want to be hepatitis B antibody positive. The hepatitis B vaccine is a 3-shot series. After you finish the series, you should be tested if it worked and you have the antibodies. This is what tells you if you are protected against the virus. Sometimes people need to get the vaccine series more than once to get the antibodies, which is probably the case with you.

When you donate blood, they will always test your blood to see if you have ever been exposed to the hepatitis B virus. If you have never been exposed, they will accept your blood. If you have been exposed at some point, then they will contact you and let you know that they cannot use your blood.  (+ info)

What disease causes the body to quit producing vitamin B resulting in blood clots on the lungs?

Blood clots on lungs and the body is not producing vitamin B. I can't recall the disease but heard of it. Any ideas?
----------

A lack or a deficiency of Vit B 6 may be related to seizures, chronic pain, depression, headaches and, Parkinsons's Disease.
Basically, a deficiency of Vitamin B6, folic acid or, Vitamin B 12 may increase your level of homocysteine, an amino acid normally found in your blood.
An increase in homocysteine is an independent risk factor for heart disease & stroke. High levels may damage coronary ( heart) arteries or make it easier for ** blood clotting cells( platelets) to clump together & form a clot.
Here are two websites that are quite informative:

I hope that this info is helpful.
As far as any specific disorder ( or a disease name) that causes blood clots on the lungs due to a lack of " vitamin B ", I'm uncertain as to such a known, specific disorder.  (+ info)

How long does it take your body to absorb B vitamins?

I think I need more B vitamins and am wondering how long they take to absorb into your system after taking them. If you are deficient, do you need to take them for a while to build them up or is the effect right away?
----------

it happens really quickly, about 30 minutes, your body will pee out what you don't need. your body doesn't store b vitamins as it is water soluble, you will probably need to take them long term, especially if you are a vegetarian or vegan.  (+ info)

Is a hep B test standard procedure when you are checked after having been sexually assaulted?

In regards to another question I had asked, I realized something that was rather peculiar. The people at the hospital made it seem very necessary for me to have a Hepatitis B test done after I had been sexually assaulted. Is this test a standard procedure at most hospitals? If it isnt, why else might they have done it?
----------

Hepatits B is the easiest of the Hep family to catch and you dont need to have sex to catch it. It is standard procedure for testing for almost all STD's after an assault so dont worry its just a precautionary measure. I know its all scary and I know its hard to get your head around but you will be fine, and as much as I know easier said than done, try not to worry too much

Does the Oral B sonic toothbrush work almost as good as that expensive Sonicare toothbrush?

I have just bought one of those Oral B sonic toothbrushes for $18.95. I was just wondering if I have wasted my money or not.
----------

hey there,

I would personally discard oral B and sonicare for toothbrushes. I don't like electric toothbrushes as they are just fancy gimmicks. I would suggest getting this toothbrush its called the soladey. You dont need toothpaste with it and it works even better then everything else. you can buy it on the net. Google it.  (+ info)

How useful is using the power tip with the oral b electric toothbrush?

I floss and brush regularly, but my dental hygenist regularly hands me the tiny internal brushes. I find them hard to use on the inside (gum side) of the teeth.

I noticed that the oral b electric toothbrushes come with a powertip. I wonder if using it is useful in addition to the flossing and brushing.

Do I continue taking my birth control after taking Plan B? Or start a new pack?

This is my second week that I've been taking my birth control. I started the day after my period ended instead of the start of my period. An accident happened and I took Plan B as a precaution. Should I continue with my pack of birth control? Or start a new pack?
----------

Continue taking them as normal. Your cycle may change because of the morning after pill but your body will sort itself out.  (+ info)

What is the difference between non B complex vitamins and B complex vitamins?

I know that Vitamin C is a non B Complex, what else should I know?
----------

Whole food supplements and some "natural" supplements will give foods as sources for the nutrients they contain. If a supplement is synthetic it will usually show the following as sources:

B complex – no source listed

B1 – thiamine mononitrate or thiamine hydrochloride

B2 – riboflavin

B5 – calcium D-pantothenate

B6 – pyridoxine hydrochloride

B12 – cobalamin

Folic Acid – pteroylglutamic acid

Biotin – d-Biotin

There is much controversy concerning the body’s reaction to synthetic vs. natural vitamin supplements. Many believe that the small differences between synthetic and natural are of no consequence. However, clinical evidence and several studies indicate that the body detects the difference and that natural forms of vitamins including A, B-complex, C, D, and E are more absorbable and assimilable by the body and have a more profound effect on deficiencies and disease than synthetics. This question comes to mind: Isn’t it possible that this could be true for all nutrients? Also, it has been shown that sensitive individuals who have reactions to the synthetic vitamins can take the truly natural forms with no problems  (+ info)
