Can Herpes Labialis be transferred into other types of herpes?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herpes_labialis
----------

Yes it can be transferred to the mouth and other facial areas.

The transmission of the Herpes simplex virus can happen by any direct skin contact with affected areas. This means that it does not matter if the contact was made by one individual’s mouth to another’s oral region, or from one person’s genitals coming into contact with another. I have attached some great articles that should shed some more light on this for you.

first stages of herpes labialis?

I was wondering if I could be exzibiting the first stages of herpes labialis.

I have a circular, puffy, discolored(darker purple) abrasion on my upper lip. could this be the vesicle stage of the virus?

There is no pain in the area, but I do have a slightly sore throat.
----------

If you have herpes on your lips (the ones above the waist) then you probably don't have herpes labialis (this is genital herpes). Genital herpes doesn't commonly infect the mouth but it can if you have given some one with genital herpes oral sex, while the had an out break.
This could be oral herpes or cold sores. The sores usually cause some itching, burning and or tingling around the site of the out break.
When a cold sore is broken out it's at the "weeping stage".
The sore throat could be caused by some thing else. A sore throat is usually not a symptom of herpes unless you had herpes inside of your mouth but this also doesn't commonly happen.

Herpes Labialis while pregnant?

I am 6 weeks pregnant and am now having a recurring herpes labialis. Will this be bad for my baby?
To add on... it think this is commonly called Fever Blister or Cold Sore. Asked the doctor already but I would like to hear some thoughts from those who have experienced this. Thanks!
Sorry... I may have sent the wrong message... I was talking about Herpes Simplex I. The virus that causes facial herpes and NOT herpes genitalia.
----------

herpes does not transfer to the baby during pregnany. The only problem occurs during a vaginal delivery but only if you have an outbreak and only if the baby comes in contact wih the sores (obviously this is not an issue if you only develop cold sores on your face). There should be no risk to your baby but do still inform your doctor because fever blisters (especially if they are very open, gaping, or oozing sores) can become very badly infected which puts you at risk for preterm labor.  (+ info)

Herpes does not have a cure. You can control the symptoms with many different medications, usually prescribed by a doctor. And it's definately not caused by smoking, it is a sexually transmitted disease.   (+ info)

Herpes labialis? am i being unreasonable?

I recently started dating this guy, he fell very ill and ended up having to go to the hospital where he was given penicillin for Tonsilitis.
During the illness he developed these larger blisters on one side of his mouth that got even more massive and started to get scabby. He said they were just a part of the throat infection that spread to his mouth, and at the hospital, the doctor- 1.didnt even look in his throat nor feel his tonsils, 2 had no answer for what his illness was and just said it was Tonsilitis because we mentioned it and he said he had a history of it. We also asked about the infection on the side of his lip/face, the doctor said "yeah yeah, probably just the infection spread there now"

I am 99% sure its Herpes labialis...and he doesnt seemed too concerned with it, and TRUSTS the awful ignorant doctor. I on the other hand, do not, and do not myself get "cold sores" because I dont have the herpes virus...and do not want to get it. I told him he needs to have it checked out by a GP, but he still is saying "well, in a week or so it will be gone and everything will be fine" and i just dont know how to tell him that I DO NOT WANT TO EVER KISS HIM AGAIN NOR DATE HIM unless he finds out for sure what this is!!
im sure i am being very paranoid, but i really like him, and would like to keep seeing him, but this lack of caring is worrying, and i just dont know what to do. Tell him i cant see him, sorry.....or ??? i REALLY dont want fucking cold sores for the rest of my life!!
----------

It's down to you to protect your health so you must be blunt about it and tell him to get checked out at the gp - it's only a quick visit and seeing as he's not well anyway, it's no big deal surely.  (+ info)

I think I have herpes labialis, should I be worried?

so I haven't checked this thing on my lips yet but my mother's friend is a doctor and she asked her through text.. her friend said she thinks I have herpes labialis. I searched pictures of what it looks like and there's a picture in which it looks the same as mine.
so my problem is, do I have to be worried? It's not the same as genital herpes right? those are two different things? I just want to know for sure.
also, I first had this herpes when I was 4. I only found out about it now. It's not really hurting or what, there's just this sores on the side of my lips.

here's a picture of me when I was 4. Look at the thing near my lips, that's it. http://s298.photobucket.com/albums/mm277/CULLENizedKevinJ/?action=view¤t=l.jpg

also here is what it looks like now. I just found it on google and it looks the same as mine: http://www.upol.cz/uploads/RTEmagicC_HERPES_LABIALIS_02.jpg.jpg

----------

Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause lip and mouth sores and genital herpes.

The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid-such as from sharing eating utensils or razors,or kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva.Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

The first symptoms of cold sores may include pain around your mouth and on your lips, a fever, a sore throat, or swollen glands in your neck or other parts of the body. After the blisters appear, the cold sores usually break open, leak a clear fluid, and then crust over and disappear after several days to 2 weeks.

The herpes simplex virus that causes cold sores cannot be cured. After you get infected, the virus stays in your body for the rest of your life. If you get cold sores often, treatment can reduce the number of cold sores you get and how severe they are.  (+ info)
