What is a benign fibrous nevis?

In particular the what and how of the fibrous part of the term?
----------

The fibrous part is not visible on the outside. It is revealed in histology studies, where the staining process used on the tissue reveals that fibrin (scar material) has been deposited inside the nevus. It is seen under the microscope.  (+ info)

i was told that I have fibrous breast tumor. I know that it's benign but what does it really mean?

plz help I need to know. they found 2 of them of my right breast.
I mean like what does fibrous tumor mean?
I'm 17 years old.
----------

These benign tumors are solid lumps of fibrous and glandular tissue. Benign means that the lump or tumor is non-cancerous. The causes of fibrous tumors are an exaggerated response of your breast tissue to changes of ovarian hormones.

As I noted, your tumors were benign, which means you do not have cancer. However, it is very important to continue to get regular mammograms, as fibrous changes in the breast can increase your risk for breast cancer in the future.

Best of luck to you.  (+ info)

Benign Fibrous Growth...Is it common?

I had a shunt from the time I was born up until I was 14 years old. It was then that I had a complete shunt removal due to my shunt tube piercing my intestine. I am 22 years old and shunt free, as of now and have been more frequently getting headaches.I just got results of CT's that I had gotten taken last week. What I want to know is, Is a benign fibrous growth next to where the shunt would have been, common? I am scared to have another brain operation because my last one resulted in me being in a coma.
----------

Benigh means non cancerous.....fibrous means not smooth. soo, it probably means you have a bit of a scar there where the tube was. Nothing serious I don't think. probably normal scarring.  (+ info)

Anyone have suggestions about treating fibrous adenomas?

I have very lumpy breasts and have had some removed. All have tested as benign. The last time resulted in a lot of breast tissue being removed after the doctor didn't close the wound properly and now I am very wary about seeing a doctor about this.
Are there any vitamin supplements or minerals that can help?
----------

You are better off not having these removed unless they are large enough to cause you problems wearing a bra or so asymmetric cosmetically. These tumors are quite common and benign. Surgery usually is done because cancer couldn't be excluded so if you know these are fibroadenomas, then no real benefit is gotten from removing them and you can see that complications are possible. Unfortunately, no over the counter remedies work. The same advice goes for breast cysts. Leave them alone unless they are extraordinarily bothersome.  (+ info)

Fibrous Dysplasia--benign bone tumors. Ever heard of this condition? Know of any support groups?

My daughter had a tumor removed from her left tibia three years ago (she was 13) and a titanium rod placed permanently in with two large nails. She always has a lot of pain still, and there is a remote danger of osteo sarcoma developing. Sometimes we feel very alone in this. If you have heard of this condition, or know of a support group, I would appreciate your input. Thanks.
I decided to do some research on the Web and found the following link:
http://fibrousdysplasia.org/index.html
It is very informative. I should have done more of this years ago. But we have felt in pretty good hands with her physician. Still do.

Thanks for your answer, Larry, though the thought of multiple myeloma in my daughter is, of course, horrifying. You have my sympathies for the loss of your father and the terrible suffering he endured. DHW
----------

my father died of multiple myloma at the age of 38. Your daughters condition seems to be similar to that, i mean the beg. stages of it. it takes sometimes a few years for it to progress. tumors start in the bone marrow and then you can break bones very easily. it is an extremely painful cancer to die of as it hits the 4th stage, my suggestion to you is to always get a second opinion from a pathologist. fibrous dysplasia sounds real similar.  (+ info)

What is the difference between a benign tumor and a malignant tumor?

A) Benign tumors arise by transformation; malignant tumors don't.
B) Benign tumors do not metastasize; malignant tumors do.
C) Benign tumors metastasize; malignant tumors don't.
E) Benign tumors do not arise by transformation; malignant tumors do.
----------

I'm pretty sure it's B benign tumours are not cancerous where as malignant are and have the ability to "spread" (metastasize)  (+ info)

does anyone have a good diet for getting rid of fibrous cysts?

I recently found out that I have fibrous cysts in my breasts. I am definitely not a dieter. But I have been told to observe certain eating/drinking habits. I am looking for an easy to follow diet plan to reduce fibrous cysts.

What is my cancer risk after having a benign tumor removed along with the ovary it was on?

I had abdominal surgery to remove a benign tumor from one of my ovaries. My doctor said the ovary had to be removed and one of my tubes had to be removed because they were abnormal. I was wondering, with a strong family history of female cancers and having this happen to me what my risk is for getting a female cancer?
----------

With any surgery no matter how small or intense, there is always a risk. Don't let anyone fool you/ As ar as re,moving a benign tumor. which simply put ,means you don't have cancer. So my question to the doctor is, why is he going to such extremes for something that's not cancer. You need to see another Dr ASAP. It sounds like you're someones experience, I think he did something wrong. Please, go see another docotor about this, someone he doesn't know. this is just too fishy. Let us know how this comes out. and please, don't go back to that doctor, and I use the term loosely God bless  (+ info)
