Hot Flashes?

I'm 26 years old and have a very consistent menstrual cycle. I’ve only missed my period twice since I’ve started at 12 years old. But I have been experiencing Hot Flashes at night and during the day. There have been people who have started menopause early, but I do not have any other symptoms.

I've always been "hot stuff" and do not tolerate heat. It's winter now and I have still feel like I have hot flashes about once a day. Currently I am not on medications or have any other symptoms. I do have insomnia that I've been coping with. Do you have any suggestions on what else could be going on? Is this "minor" issue worth going to the doctor for?
----------

I used to have night sweats during my 20s. It was from a hormonal imbalance.
You could be going through that or hormonal changes or it could be anything.

Please see a Gyn who can help you with this problem. You may also want to see an Endocrinologist, who specializes in hormonal disorders.  (+ info)

hot flashes?

i'm 14 & lately, i've been getting really hot for no reason, like hot flashes, except i'm not going into menopause or anything since i only started my period 3 years ago.
does anyone know what this is & whats causing it, so that i can make it stop?
----------

Probably just hormone imbalance, since you are so young.
Drink plenty of water during the day and avoid hot, spicy foods. Also, drinking soy milk may help.

Do you notice it all thru the month? Or only at certain times?

Keep a diary of when this happens, along with your period dates. If it continues and does not yield to simple changes mentioned above, you may need to see a doctor. This information will help him/her decide what course of treatment to take.

Good luck!  (+ info)

Hot flashes?

I have a question for those of you who have hot flashes. I think mine are caused by anxiety, but regardless of your cause.. Does the intensity change with the seasons? Because even when I'm in my school in february and it's kind of cold, I'll have one and it'll feel like I'm on fire, and I think I developed a random sensitivity to heat along with the anxiety lol.. So I'm worried about summer coming quickly, because if they're bad in the winter.. they must be KILLER in the summer. For those of you who deal with them, are they more intense in the summer when it's already hot to begin with?
----------

I use to have them, if you want to reduce them I suggest eating healthier and staying calm. They won't be any different no matter what the weather is.  (+ info)

I hate the hotflashes, I get them really bad also. It could 30 degrees outside, and ill get A hot flash thats so bad it will feel like summer to me. All we get to do is ride out the hot flash. If you drink A whole bunch of water everyday, ive noticed that it helps alot! When im really dehydrated is when I get hotflashes the worst! Hope this helped.  (+ info)

What could cause hot flashes other than menopause?

I am 25 so it's obviously not that, but I wake up every night in the middle of the night with these horrible hot flashes and on top of that I have migranes(sp) from hell every night. I don't know what could be the cause of this.
----------

I was having them too. I couldnt figure out why. My feet were on fire and so was the rest od my body. My doctor told me dehydration at night can cause these type of reaction.

Try drinking some gatorade before you go to sleep and keeping the bottle by the bed. It cant hurt to try  (+ info)

How long will I continue to have hot flashes?

55 yrs old. Quit having periods 4 years ago, but the hot flashes and insomnia are still going on. Hot flashes extremely severe, especially at night. I've read reports that these types of symptoms should only last about a year. I have congestive heart failure, so I cannot use hormone replacement therapy. How much longer am I going to have to live with this?
----------

Eat dark leafy vegetables (mustard greens) and drink a hot tea with honey before going to bed and see. Take natural thyroid products too!  (+ info)

How do you get hot flashes when you are post menopause?

My mom is having hot flashes and she hasn't had a period for over 3 years, how is this possible?
----------

It can occur because the body is no longer making the hormones. I have the link to another site that may be able to give you even more information. The link is at: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-health  (+ info)

How long will hot flashes continue after menestration stops?

I stopped meninstrating about four years ago. I didn't really have a problem with hot flashes at that time. But it seems like here lately I am experiencing a lot of "fluxuation." What I mean is I am extremely hot one minute and cold the next. It's like my thermostat is off. Any suggestions what might be going on. I don't see my gynocologist until August I thought I'd put this question out.
----------

Every person is different.
For me...I started complete menopause at the age of 36 and I am now 45.
I still have hot flashes about 15 times a day, and each of them last about 90 seconds each. (and they only affect my neck and face)  (+ info)

What causes hot flashes in kids around age 13?

I know hot flashes are common in menopause but a 13 is not in menopause is there a reason why a 13 year old would get frequent hot flashes?
----------

A 13 year old is in the early stages of adolescence and hormone surges and growth spurts and cause this particular symptom.  (+ info)
