Has anyone ever felt strange skin sensations, like hypersensitivity to clothing and such?

Yes. If you've had a virus recently, it could just be that. But if you tend to have allergies it could be you are reacting to something...either soap or detergent or fabric softener etc. Did you switch products lately?

Some clothes are make of "unkown fibres"...never wear clothes like that...who knows what they put in there...I've always reacted to clothes like that. The more natural the fibre the better for your skin.

Do talk about it with your doctor if it's frequent though. It could be a sign to some other underlying condition and maybe even a reaction to medicine.

Do rule out some new products however...I know I can't use strong perfumed soaps, etc.

If you think it might be allodynia here is a site you can compare your symptoms to:

acute hypersensitivity pneumonitis?

Is there any treatment for this?
----------

most important treatment of hypersensitivity pneumonitis is avoidance of repeated exposures to the offending particles. With early diagnosis and prevention, the prognosis is good. Prolonged, repeated exposures can lead to permanent lung damage, scarring, and potentially significant disability.  (+ info)

any over the counter toothpaste for sensitive teeth should help. You can just use your fingers and apply swish and rinse. A tooth brush may irritate too much.  (+ info)

Skin Hypersensitivity?

I am having some real issues all of the sudden with hypersensitivity with the skin around my right knee and it has moved a little into my calf.

Sensitive to the touch and cold. I have been doing some walking lately but for the last two days it has been painful to the touch.

There is no swelling, redness, bug bites, etc. etc. looks normal.

Any thoughts on what this could be? Thanks!

Hypersensitivity in ears to noise/vibration?

I went to see my doctor because of anxiety/depression problems last night and mentioned how loud noises and vibrations make me feel lightheaded and kinda nauseated, especially, for example, if I'm in a car with the radio on. I don't know if it's motion sickness or whatever, but it drives me craaazy. Even in school, if a teacher's talking loud, it really gets to me, you know? Same thing when I'm in a movie theater. The doctor said it could be ear sensitivity, so I'm going with that.

Anyway, on the 29th, I want to go to a concert at a spot 30 minutes away.. In relation to the the hypersensitivity in my ears, is there anything I can take or do to get around feeling nauseated if the noise and vibrations get to me? I'm alright at home, but the other time I went to a concert at the same area I felt sick and had to leave early, but then when I went to a concert in a different place I was fine. =\ Blah. Helppp.
----------

hmm..Take Dramamine for motion sickness..I'm not a doctor. So all i can do is come up with strange theories. Like an inner ear fluid problem.. It also could just be psychological, many people with anxiety problems report having the strangest symptoms.  (+ info)

Is 'electromagnetic hypersensitivity' a real condition?

There is dubious science involved with people who are 'hypersensitive' to electromagnetic radiation. This kind of radiation is non-ionizing, (unlike gamma, beta, alpha and x-rays, etc.) so it is no known to alter the genetic make up of cells. There is some information on fetal malformation in cattle near high tension lines, but these results have not been duplicated scientifically in the lab. You are actually exposed to more radiation from solar and cosmic ray sources, as well as natural sources like radon and the like, than you would be from using cell phones, wireless communications, etc.
I guess the condition would be real enough to a person to have psychosomatic symptoms of hypersensitivity reaction, but the science does not back any of this up. So my answer is no, this is not a real condition in the same way that exposure to ionizing radiation would be. I have included the link from the institute of electrical and electronic engineers, the guys who know their resistors from their capacitors....  (+ info)
