How can you tell the difference between gas pains or something going wrong?

This is my second pregnancy but I seem to be having a lot more health problems and such with this one. Now I am having these little pains in my stomach and I was thinking they were just gas pains but how do I know for sure it's nothing serious? I am 18 weeks prego
----------

I had worse growing pains with my second pregnancy. Your body stretches faster than with your first so it hurts more. Don't worry about it. If it gets worse, pain that you can not stand, or Bleeding call your doctor.  (+ info)

Best way to cook cornish hens on gas grill rotissorie style?

Looking for some receipes to cook a couple cornish hens on gas grill rotissorie style and how long to cook them on there. Thanks all!
Know how to cook them, just looking for different idea's to flavor them up. Just love grilling and always looking for new ideas.
----------

I made a wet rub the other day for some grilled chicken and it turned out fantastic. I used equal parts garlic powder, kosher salt, paprika then put half parts of Cayenne pepper (use less if you are sensitive to heat, or omit if you don't care for heat), onion powder, black pepper, and brown sugar (also good is thyme, oregano). I added two tablespoons of white vinegar and enough Olive oil to make a thin paste. I rubbed my chicken with this, under and over the skin. Let is rest, a couple of hours then cook as you usually would. With the Cornish hen, because they are so small, you want to make sure not to over cook them. Use an instant read thermometer, when it reads 170 in the breast it's done. Now if you don't have one, which I haven't always had one either, I always went by the skin. If the skin is golden and crispy, and the juices from the thigh are coming out clear when you give it a tug or poke then I always assumed done.  (+ info)

I have a bunch of cedar planks for grilling. I want to use them to smoke lamb, or at least get some smokiness to it. My grill is gas and there is no attachment for smoking or anything. Can you help?
----------

wet the cedar then put in a specially designed smoke box or wrap in tin foil and poke a few holes in it that should do the trick  (+ info)

What positions are best for relieving abdominal gas?

It's painful when it happens, and you want to get rid of it as quick as possible. What positions are best for burping/passing gas?
----------

If the gas is in your stomach, you should lean to your left while standing. That puts the air bubble next to the esophagus where it can get out. The place in your stomach where air gathers is normally higher than your esophagus when your are standing or sitting.

If it is in your colon, it likes to gather at what they call the splenic flexure, which is the highest point in your colon if you are sitting or standing. If you feel it on the left side just below the ribs, that is the splenic flexure. Your colon runs up, then right to left, then hits the splenic flexure and usually goes up, then down.

So the best position to get rid of gas in your colon is whatever is comfortable where your anus is higher than your splenic flexure. So the bubble can rise to the top, so to speak.

There is no best position for gas in the small intestine.  (+ info)

Is it safe to take mylanta for gas during the first trimester?

For the past to days I have been bloated and experiencing really bad gas. Every thing that I have eaten in the past two days has upset my stomach. Any suggestions would be very helpful.
----------

I am not sure about Mylanta, but I know when I had a lot of gas and indigestion in the hospital when I was pregnant with my first, they gave me Maalox.  (+ info)

How can you help a baby with gas pains while in a car seat?

My nephew had gas pains yesterday while we were on the road but we couldn't take him out of the car seat. He stopped crying when he could burp but it took him awhile. For future reference, what can we do to help sooth him or help him burp the next time this happens. Thanks!
This is more for small trips. And we were in traffic. Pulling over wasn't possible. Otherwise, of course we would have.
----------

Had he been given a bottle in the car, while in his car seat? This will cause gas/burp problems every time. A baby needs to be held to eat and then burped properly - this will help him not get the problem in the first place. If he already has the problem, rubbing his belly can help, though if he has just eaten and he's laying in a car seat, it could help him spit up, too. Depending upon the age of the baby, when they have trapped gas, its not the same as a grown up - all their digestive parts are not always fully mature and it can really pain them. Few roads/highways/streets really have no where to pull over. Take an exit, use the shoulder, whatever it takes. It will soothe the baby faster so everyone can have peeace on the trip. Think of the accident that could happen if the driver wrecks b/c a screaming infant meant he couldn't focus. Besides, when a baby cries, they're saying they need our help, and should always be tended to as soon as possible. Ignoring that cry or not helping them gives them the impression that their cries don't matter, no one is listening.

I'm sure you all would never intentionally do harm to your precious nephew, sounds rather like new parents who didn't realize the importance of finding (or making!) a place to pull over and deal with the pained baby.  (+ info)

How many times do you clean your gas grill?

We just bought a beautiful gas grill, and I don't know when the right time to clean them is? Do I just wait until I'm about to store it @ the end of the summer to clean it? or should I do it after every BBQ grill? Just curious!

Thanks everyone!
----------

After your done cooking, while the grill is still hot, give it a quick scrub and then a good clean at the end of summer. Oven cleaner works great on grill grates.  (+ info)

How do you tell the difference between gas and fetal movement at 16 weeks?

I'm 16 weeks and I do feel movement BUT sometimes I feel so much movement I swer it's gotta be gas. How can I tell the difference.
I don't do coffee, thank you
----------

16 weeks is about average to feel "quickening" it feels like gas..but if you don't end up farting, then it's the baby. I'm pretty sure you are feeling quickening.  (+ info)

What is the best way to treat gas and colic in a 1 month old infant?

What are the best products for treating gas in a 1 month old? Mylicon doesn't seem to be doing well. I've heard pros and cons about various gripe waters. Are there any home remedies?

Also, what is the best way to handle a weepy diaper rash? (it's bleeding) right now I am using desitin original. The cream didn't work AT ALL. I also used browned flour. Any other suggestions?

Thanks :)
----------

Little Tummys worked pretty well for my g-daughter. We used gripe water ,butI believe she was a bit older than your lil one,but it worked well also. Try Boudreaux Butt Paste for the hiney if it doesn't clear up it may be a yeast infection and a you may need a prescription medicine. Best of luck.  (+ info)
