Is there a link between mumps in childhood and male infertility?

Maybe it's a domestic myth, but is there any proven link between boys contracting mumps in infancy and male-infertility later in life?
----------

Look dear,
Yes there is a strong relationship between contracting mumps in childhood & infertility as a complications of the mumps virus.
Mumps may cause orchitis & the testis may undergo atrophy, usually unilateral, but may be bilateral causing sterility.
In the female it may also cause oophoritis, but it's of less incidence than orchitis.
Believe me dear,I'm a student in faculty of medicine 5th year & I studied it several times.
I hope I could help.  (+ info)

What is Immunocal and does it support male infertility?

What is Immunocal and how does it help with male infertility? My husbands sperm is not matureing. Will it help with that? We have been trying for 17 months and have been to fertility specialist and tried everything. I just ran accross this on the internet about Immunocal helping with male infertility but I couldnt find anything that told me who it worked. Please help. Thanks
----------

A good site that helps explain immunocal in detail is: www.whatisimmunocal.com. However, one of the major functions of Immunocal is to help raise the glutathione level in your body. By going to www.pubmed.gov (which is the sponsored site of the U.S. National Library of Medicine & the National Institutes of Health for scientific and medical articles) you can do a search for medical articles that have the words, "male infertility" & "glutathione" in them. You will notice that there are over a hundred articles that come up. And a number of them show the therapeutic value of glutathione for the male reproductive system.  (+ info)

What are the treatment options and success rates for male factor infertility?

If you have personal experience, I'd love to hear about that too.

Husband has had a semen analysis done noow and we're looking at less then 5 million sperm per mL, so it's a bit of a disaster.

What are our options?
----------

I just got through reading about this last night. Vitamin C and Zinc can help with sperm motility and also unstick the sticky ones. I know his count is low but it only takes one. Also after your done making love, stick a pillow under your hips and stay down for at least 30 minutes. That really sucks, I am also trying to have a baby. But there are lots of things you can do. Good luck!  (+ info)

Male Infertility because of hits in the testicles?

How hard should a hit in the balls be to cause a man infertility?
Are there any precautions or "first aids" to do when you get hit?
----------

A man would have to be struck with such a blow that it would render him unconscious in order for him to be rendered infertile, and even then he may not be infertile.  (+ info)

What puts a man at risk for male factor infertility?

I understand factors like briefs vs. boxers, drug use, etc.. but are there any physiologic characteristics a lot of men with infertility have? My fiance and I have been TTC for 12 months now and I'm just wondering if it has anything to do with him.. Besides having diabetes type I, he is healthy-23 yo, not overweight, doesn't smoke, etc.. Is there anything that puts a man at risk for infertility?? Thanks-sorry my question is so confusing :)
----------

At this point, you may want to go get an opinion from your obgyn since you've been trying for a year. There are many reasons that some couples experience infertility and the obgyn will start to run some routine tests on the both of you to determine your problem. He could have a low sperm count even though he's healthy. Even if you do have a lower fertility, there's a lot that your doctor can do to help you out. It may also be a problem of timing your intercourse. I'd suggest the reading the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler to increase your changes of conceiving.

To anyone knowledgable in infertility. Does poor male ejaculation contribute to infertility?

After 13 years of mariage, we have unexplained infertility. And I think my ejaculation is not strong. (I don't shoot) Could that be the problem? And what medication or vitamin would you recommend? Thanks
----------

Problems with sperm might cause fertility problems (e.g. low count, low motility, and poor "shape"). However, the amount that you ejaculate shouldn't be a major factor as there are millions of sperm in very small amounts of ejaculate.

If by don't shoot, you mean you don't orgasm at all, that could be a problem as then you wouldn't have sperm present.

Your best bet is to have a semen analysis done. They test all the markers of sperm related to fertility. You may want to look at resolve.org for information about treatments specifically for male-factor infertility as well as some things you might not have thought about related to female-factor fertility problems.

Best of luck!  (+ info)

What type of doctor does a male go to, to check on male infertility?

I am assuming a urologist but I am not sure. I want to set up an appointment to check for my husband since it has been over a year of trying. I have also been having test done as well
----------

As a couple, you should see a reproductive endocrinologist, who may refer your husband to a urologist.  (+ info)
