How much would kidney stone removal surgery cost for someone without insurance?

My dad is visiting from outside the US and therefore does not have insurance. Its been confirmed he has two large kidney stones, the pain is excruciating. I am scared of what it might cost. I am not even working right now, I just graduated and waiting to take my state board exam. Does anybody know where we can get it cheap and good? My dad is suffering.

How long can a kidney stone be stuck in my ureter before damage is done?

I went to the emergency room about three weeks ago and they said I have a 4mm kidney stone in my ureter just below the kidney. The doctor said there was fluid getting backed up into kidney. The stone still hasn't passed. Will the kidney get damaged if I don't get surgery right away?
----------

Oh, yeah. Been there, done that! Get that stone broken up NOW! I can't believe that they let you leave the hospital! That kidney is going to hypertrophy. Just think kinked garden hose. All of that back pressure is going to cause serious problems. There are a number of ways of getting that stone out. You'll have anesthesia, so no problems.  (+ info)

What are the signs of a kidney infection?

I have feel pressure on my lower right back near what I beleive to be my kidney. I crave water alot and feel better when I drink fluids. Would that be a sign of a kidney problem? If so, what kind of fluids, vitamins, or foods should I be eating.
----------

If you suspect a kidney infection, you should see your doctor. Kidney infections can damage your kidneys permanently and you should not delay in seeking treatment.

Having said that, craving a lot of water can also be a symptom of diabetes.  (+ info)

How do they treat kidney stones during pregnancy?

I am 14 weeks pregnant. Have had pain in my left side since Friday, around my kidney area. I've already called my doctor yesterday and he didn't do anything because I don't have any symptoms of a kidney infection. I called back today, and waiting for them to call me back. To see if they want me to go for tests and possibly a sonogram of the kidney to check for stones. If by chance I do have a kidney stone, how is that treated during pregnancy?
----------

Usually they will just give you a pregnancy safe antibiotic to prevent or treat any UTI that might result and otherwise they let the stone break up and pass on it's own.  (+ info)

How long does a kidney infection have to be present to be fatal?

How long can you have a kidney infection before it starts to kill you?
I do have flank pain I believe. It's an extremely sharp pain right in my waist area on the right side. I also have the UTI symptoms (burning, cloudy urine) but it's also 2:17 in the morning and I don't feel like going to the ER if it's something that can wait until morning.
I just have a very extreme anxiety problem and I want to sleep comfortably tonight without worrying I'm not going to wake up.

My husband was evaluated for a kidney transplant on Thursday and they said having cats is fine. He just cannot clean their litter boxes anymore after transplant. Make sure she washes her hands after she holds him or pets him.  (+ info)

How do you know you are having kidney problems?

My friend has been having pain in her left side that at times is unbearable. Her blood pressure has also been affected. Could this be her Kidneys? What are some symptoms of kidney trouble.
----------

The main indication of kidney trouble is problems with urination (pain, burning, frequency, strong odor, cloudiness, etc.). Blood in the urine can indicate an infection or a kidney stone. With a kidney infection, you have severe back, flank or abdominal pain and usually fever, chills, sometimes nausea and vomiting. A kidney stone has similar symptoms and is often described as the worst pain the person has ever had. Kidney issues definitely affect BP. I hope your friend is seeing a doctor.  (+ info)

What are some of the symptoms of kidney stones?

My husband has been having severe pain in his back, around the area of his right kidney. He's also been very nauseated, and not hungry at all. He went to the ER last night and they didn't find anything unusual with his lab work. He'll be going to his regular doctor in a few days. My question, or rather his question is, do people who have kidney stones generally lose their appetite?
No...they did not do an x-ray.
----------

YES! Many people generally lose their appetite when having kidney stones. http://www.kidneystonesbook.net/chone.html look under "symptoms of stones", there are many symptoms depending on the degree of blockage. Good luck!  (+ info)
