Tips needed to overcome extreme tiredness and lethargy...?

Hello, I feel soooo tired all the time - I can sleep for 10 hours at night and wake up exhausted - I can nap for four hours in a day and feel exhausted. Everything is such an effort - I am on pretty strong painkillers which may contribute to my exhaustion, and the doc has put me on iron tabs as she said my iron was low, but I've been on them for 3 months and truly, I have seen no improvement. Has anyone else overcome this? Does anyone know what this could be, or what tests I should undertake besides low iron? Thanks, I'll have a snooze and come back to check answers later.....

The painkillers will (very possibly) strongly contribute to your lethargy.

However, iron-deficient anemia can make you feel this way. If you've been taking iron religiously for 3 months, however, you -should- be feeling better.

Perhaps the problem is with iron absorption or has a genetic basis. In this case you could eat supplements daily and still now have enough iron (=still feel exhausted.)

Since it's been three months I'd go back to the doctor and ask for further testing.

Good luck to you.  (+ info)

Is lethargy an early sign of pregnancy, especially if accompanied by being emotional?

Yes it is. I agree with the other 2 answers, take a test. After my first few pregnancys I could wake up and know I was pregnant just by how I felt. I was tired and drained somtimes accomonied by strong hunger. After eating nothing felt better than a nice compfy nap. Just wondering will add to your emotional stress so take a test girlie and good luck!  (+ info)

I live in NYC, what kind of flu is going around that only leaves lethargy,no appetite, and chills?

I know at least 2 people with these symptoms, over 2 weeks
Any ideas for treatment?

This seems to be the standard strain of the flu this year. The best treatment is theraflu, sleep and eat/drink weather you feel like it or not. Oh, and Tylenol for the fever.  (+ info)

For treatment of anemia and lethargy?

After having the second child, who is a month old and having a 3 year old, she suffers from anemia and lethargy. What can be done to help improve energy levels? We know about the iron supplements, but were wondering if there was anything else that would help?
no its for the mother not the children
no its for the mother not the children

I would not be asking a question like this for my 3 year old online. It is better to get a doctors opinion that can test your child and see exactly what the child need. There can be so many things. Sometimes a simple chewable multi-vitamin may work, but I would rather get answers that are 100%.  (+ info)

I want to give up sugar, but I get crazy cravings, lethargy, angry when I try is there something that can help

Are you a diabetic? Maybe you should see a doctor and get a blood test to find out. get an A1C test for blood sugar levels. This will give you an average of your blood sugar for several months.
I am a type 2 diabetic and I get sugar cravings too. I am on medication that keeps my blood sugar levels steady but every once in a while blood sugar levels dip and cause the cravings. Eating sugary things can cause your blood sugar levels to go up and then crash.
To fight cravings I have plenty of veggies available. Fruit such as orange or apple wedges and veggies such as carrots are good. They raise your blood sugar levels without going too far and too fast so your sugar levels don't crash.  (+ info)

what would cause lethargy and diarrhea?

i have a 7 mont old female St. bernard puppy i believe that she began her first menstrual cycle.for the last two days she has been lethargic and wont eat or drink anything. she wont even get up without help. she also appears t have lost weight. we've only had her since mothers day but we were told she had her shots. please help i cant afford vet bill any suggestions
----------

She probably ate something that wasn't good. If bacteria had gotten into her, it may cause her to have diarrhea. Since you said she isn't eating or drinking anything, she is losing A LOT of fluids and electrolytes; this can cause her to be lethargic and lose weight. I strongly encourage you to bring her to a vet so that they can hook her on some dextrose (IV fluids). If her condition is left untreated, she can die from dehydration.  (+ info)

What could causing my lethargy?

For the past week I have been feeling extremely sleepy, and been lacking energy. In fact last night I went to bed at 10pm and didn't wake up until 12:30pm the next day. I never sleep that much, and it worries me because I have pets to take care of.

I am on several medications (for bipolar disorder), but none of them have changed recently, so I don't know what could be causing this.
Any ideas?
