Women suffering with Lichen Sclerosus of the vulva?

I am a woman in my early 40's and have suffered with Lichen Sclerosus of the vulva according to my Gynaecologist for 5 years. The reason i'm asking this question now is because i believe i've suffered with it since 1994. I have discovered through my own diagnosis as a Doctor, that i have an intolerance to natural sugar and refined sugars including sweeteners, yet find if my diet includes sugar my symptoms of irritation in the vulva area flare up. I am not a diabetic.
Is there any woman who suffers with LS experiencing the same symptoms as i do when eating sugar? any help would be appreciated as allergy tests, hormone tests, thrush tests, are all negative.
There has to be a reason why, whenever i eat sugar i get a terrible vulva irritation.

Does anyone know how to treat extra-genital Lichen Sclerosus?

I have a dark patch on my neck and lower part of my left cheek. Its very visible. I had a biopsy and I was diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosus. I was advised by the Skin specialist to use Tacrolimus ointment for 6 weeks. I've been using this ointment for almost 2 weeks now. I've been searching the internet for information and was wondering if anyone knows if its curable?
----------

It sounds like it can eventually clear up. If you have it on your face I don't think it's called "genital" though, is it? There are different places where it can show up. If your older, have the dr. make sure your estrogen level is high enough. This web site is very informative.

how long does it usually take for biopsy results to come back? (Lichen sclerosus/cancer investigation)?

biopsy is to test for cancer and Lichen sclerosus, they have given me a hospital appointment within a week of first showing it to the doctor whch is making me really concerned, although I am 37 weeks pregnant so maybe this is why they are rushing it through? Has anyone else had simular? Thanks x

I am pregnant and have Lichen Sclerosus. I am very worried for the baby's health. Any comment is appreciated.

Is Lichen Sclerosus safe during pregnancy ? Please let me know if anyone had this problem and gave birth safe?
I just found out that I am pregnant! I have had Lichen Sclerosus for about 4 months. Dr. gave me a cream to use. However, after applying a couple of days I realized that it makes me itchy.... So I quited applying that... and now that I am pregnant I am very worried for the baby. I still have a mild Lichen Sclerosus but it doesn't bother me like itching and irritating. The skin on the labia is a little white and there are little white powder-shape things there. Please let me know if you had any problem like this before, and if it afffects the baby's health.

Does Lichen Sclerosis of the vulva *always* involve white spots/patches on the skin?

*EVERY* site I've gone to on LS says that white patches are present. Are they always? My Doc thinks I have LS but, I have NO white spots & never have. ??? :( I'm scared!
----------

I read that the doctor should take a biopsy to be sure what is actually is. Go back to the doctor for the biopsy. LS is treated with cortisone or a prescription cream the doctor prescribes. You have to use it for a few weeks and continue to use it periodically so it does not come back. Be sure to have follow-ups with your doctor for continued use of the cream. The website I saw said it usually has white spots but in mild cases no symptoms can occur.  (+ info)

Recent diagnosis of lichen sclerosus - 8 months pregnant and fearful about delivery complications?

My doctor told me today that I most likely have lichen sclerosus (I am having a biopsy next week to check for sure.) While I am relieved to have a probable diagnosis for a problem that I have had since my teens, I am 8 months pregnant and very apprehensive about vaginal delivery because of some of the horror stories I have read. My doctor admitted that he does not know much about the disease, and suggested that I discuss it w/ the attending OB/GYN when I get to the hospital to deliver! I would obviously like to make an educated decision before then - what if I get a doctor on call that doesn't know anything about it either? I would love to hear anything from anyone who has lichen sclerosis and has had a baby, and what your suggestions would be re: vaginal delivery vs. c-section.
----------

Its basically a long term skin disease. It makes your skin tear way more easy than someone without the disease. I would recommend having a c-section....just so you are torn up so much down there after having a baby. Good luck to you!  (+ info)

I have Lichen Sclerosus...?

and I can't get into the doctor until this weekend.
I want to know what I could do to lessen the pain from it until this weekend.
This is what Lichen Sclerosus is; http://www.childrensmn.org/web/adolescent/137261.asp
I have it in my downstairs and it's REALLY uncomfortable :(
Gross, I know, but anything you can think of is greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Considering that the weekend is in one day, I'd say to wait until you can see your doctor (hopefully it's a dermatologist). There are a couple of ways of treating this disorder, with either a strong cortisone (be cautious about causing more thinning of the skin) or with topical testosterone. I've had the best luck with the cortisone method. The importance of treating this is to avoid future complications of scarring and contracture of the entroitus.  (+ info)
