How do I look after my Lingual Frenectomy?

I had my lingual frenectomy today! :) But, I'm not quite sure what else I need to help look after it, apart from salt water mouthwash. I've been told to wash my mouth with saltwater at least 3 times a day to help keep the area clean, but I would like it if someone else could help me figure out what helps promote healing?

I have had a lot of dental/oral stuff done myself. And the dentist ALWAYS says the same thing, gargle with salt water. Salt water....salt water......salt water.

Honestly? There is not much else you can do. However, I would highly suggest increasing your vitamin E intake. Vitamin E is really cheap, you can usually get a bottle of 100 for 5 bucks or so. The other thing you should take is a Vitamin B complex....same price.

These vitamins really help your body promote healing from the inside out. So, while you can only do so much to keep the area clean, you can actually take vitamins (which are obviously completely natural) to help your body heal from the inside out.

It really does help!!! The other thing I would highly suggest is taking ibuprofin....even if you aren't feeling any pain. It is an anti-inflamatory, and will help keep any swelling/inflamation down.

I was thinkning about getting lingual braces. For those who don't know, they are braces that are applied on the back of your teeth. Just curious on prices?
Not sure how much exactly (different for everyone) ask your ortho and he will give you a price range.

But I do know for sure they ARE more than normal braces (which run 5-10 thousand)

general anesthesia for lingual frenectomy for a five year old?

My five year old is scheduled for a lingual frenectomy in march, however she is getting general anesthesia, i am so afraid, does anyone know how safe this is? Should i wait until shes older?
Very, very safe. It'll be a quick procedure, so she'll get a mask on the face with some gas to get her knocked out, and then the surgeon will do his thing. Five minutes? Ten? If I gave the anesthesia, I wouldn't even start an IV.

It's the sort of thing that could be done awake for an adult, but kids are too traumatized by procedures like that and are rarely cooperative enough to get it done at all.

Count on your daughter being in a crappy mood for the rest of the day. Kids hate the feeling of being anesthetized. I'd also advise giving her Tylenol around the clock for a few days. Don't make her be in pain to get medication.  (+ info)

So i am getting lingual braces(behind the teeth) and I know they are more expensive, but would I save money if I did the top lingual and bottom normal. Or if i'm getting top lingual, should i might as well just do the bottom the same?
