What is good for low back pain?

I do a lot of bending at work, I have constant low back pain, even when I am not working. How can I tell if it's my back or my kidneys? What is good for low back pain?

Are low back and hip pain normal in a perimenopausal woman?

I have the pain mainly on the left side of my lower back and into the hip. The doctor gave me some pain reliervers and said it was probably a muscle strain, but I was sleeping when the pain started (2 weeks ago.)

If cramps or low back pain were due to contractions would it show up on the monitor?

I had gone to L&D last Saturday since I was having low back pain..

No contractions showed up.. So I was wondering if they didnt show up, are they just normal? Thank you.
what if they were due to preterm labor? Would they show up in the monitor?
----------

I have to disagree. I was induced with my second and I had contractions like there was no tomorrow and they told me that because they weren't showing up on the monitor I wasn't in labor.

Well, I told them I was and they put an internal monitor on my babies head and my contractions were peaking at 70 and I was holding my baby 15 mins later. So NO they don't always show up on those machines.   (+ info)

Low back pain! What do you pregnant ladies out there do about it?

If I stay in one position too long, my lower back starts to hurt. I don't want to take pain relievers. What do you do to help you with low back pain?

I'm 19 weeks pregnant btw.

Thanks in advance.
----------

If you want to keep it natural, try a warm bath or a heating pad on your lower back. Or if you have someone to help you out, have them massage your back in long strokes. Long stroke help increase blood circulation.  (+ info)

I am 15 days over due for my periods and two negative pregnancy tests and i have low back and pelvic pain?

never missed a period in my life, last month it was a little less than the other times.I am 15 days over due for my periods and two negative home pregnancy tests and i have low back, abdominal and pelvic pain and a white discharge from my vagina. I dont have any pregnancy symptoms, what could be the problem?
----------

Not sure if you have had intercourse but suspect that you have if you have done tests. There is an outside possibility that the tests are wrong or you may have exceptionally an ectopic pregnancy.
Go see the doctor and have an exam put your mind at rest, there could be any number of reasons for a change to your cycle including stress or diet, but be sure go see someone.  (+ info)

what can I do for low back pain?

I'm 23 wks pregnant and I just began having low back pain. No other symptoms, my baby just started moving a lot more the last week so I have a feeling it's because of the weight gain and baby moving. What can I do to ease the discomfort?
----------

First off make sure your wearing very comfortable supportive shoes especially if your working and on your feet alot. Next, watch your body mechanics as much as possible, be careful bending over and how you get in the car, little things like that can add up and make a huge difference. Then you should go get a massage, that will relieve alot of that tension from your muscles changing :)  (+ info)

Does an extremely low fat diet cause major joint pain especially in the back and cold appendages? ?

the only fat I eat these days are from a few eggs a day and the little bit of butter I put on the frying pan, beside that I eat mostly carbs and protein without fat.

Recently I've been getting joint pain everywhere and my spin feels like it's going to snap off. my neck spin area hurts.

I've also been getting extremely cold hands, feet and tip of the nose.

Is this due to my very low fat diet?
----------

Well, first off you have to remember that fat comes in many foods. It's not just butter or eggs. There are places where coffee will hold so much fat. Chips hold fat. Meat holds fat. Milk holds fat. Oils are fats (So like popcorn or things fried in oil). Desserts are fats. Peanut butter even has a lot of fat and even nuts! These are just some of the foods that hold more fat than others. Many foods hold fats. Fast food holds fats in every thing they create!

It's possible that you aren't getting enough fat But I have trouble believing that your body functions are being caused by just low fat. Tell me, is your hair completely dry and brittle? I'd say if that was happening than you might be way too low on fats. Because you need fats/oils to make hair lusty. Oils from your scalp (which come from the food you eat) will fall down your hair making it lusting. Thats why straight hair gets oilier than curly hair or thick hair.

Your joint pain could be tons of things. But it probably isn't from the fat. And the other guy is right when he says that oils help the joints move. But otherwise If it had anything else to do with your diet it would be not getting enough food so your bones are dissinagrating but you'd have to be eating as little as an anorexic for that to happen. You might be exercising wrong or something.

And cold hands and feet.... I'm not exactly sure all the reasons. I only know one but that wouldn't fit you I'd think. It might just be how your body's reacting from the weather changes this winter. And I do believe that can happen. I'll be sitting at a desk or in the car and my feet would get so cold it's painful even though it's warm in the room. If your really worried than I'd ask a doctor.

But if you are getting in other foods with fats than I'd think that it wouldn't be your fats that are causing this.  (+ info)

13 years old and i have low back pain. Is it normal?

I looked through the symptoms of low back pain, and i really think i have it. i went through many websites, and i was wondering is it normal for me to have low back pain?
its been going on for two weeks now.
yes, i do do physical activity. Im on the basketball team in my school, and i take dance class.
----------

It's possible that you're just having growing pains.
13 is one of the early year of puberty, and when you're that early you get a lot of different pains that you may not be use to. I'm not saying that this is what it is, but you may want to consider if that is what it really is. You could check with your doctor about it :)  (+ info)

Why do I experience low back pain when I do my leg workout?

When I do my leg routine; squats, romanian deadlifts and 40 degree leg press, I feel pain in my lower back afterwards.
----------

You need to maintain neutral spine (neither anterior nor posterior pelvic tilt). Strain on the lower back usually happens from abnormal bending or rotation of the spine.

You may want to try hack squats, ball squats or some other exercise that provides support to keep the spine neutral.

It is also good to strengthen your abs and spinal erectors as well as stretching the hamstrings. Weakness in the core or inflexibility of the hamstrings are major culprits in causing spinal problems.  (+ info)

28 Weeks Pregnant and severe low back pain?

I just hit 7 months pregnant and started having severe low back pain just on my left side. It hurts to walk or move my left leg. Even driving a car is painful. Is this normal or should I go to the hospital?
----------

it sounds a lot like round ligament pain or possibly the baby being in a position that puts pressure on a nerve or two. you could call the doctor, but as long as you aren't having actual contractions i wouldn't worry too much. sometimes low back pain can accompany contractions, when this happens often the pain will start in the back and then wrap around to your lower stomach and harden your uterus. its likely that you have just gotten bigger, you are 7 months pregnant, and the weight is putting pressure on your muscles, ligaments and nerves that you aren't used to and the feelings will pass.
if these pains are rhythmic or go away and come back you should call L&D but if it is pain that is persistent its likely harmless and if you are worried you can call your doctor. other than that you might try rotating ice and low heat on the painful area or take some tylenol for the pain.  (+ info)
