The effects of chronic kidney disease on your skin?

I have stage 3 chronic kidney disease and wondered if the build up from my kidney not functioning correctly has anything to do with the condition of my skin? I only have the one kidney too.
----------

You never said what skin condition you have and there a number of skin conditions associated with chronic kidney disease. You can go to the link below and read about some of them yourself. Your nephrologist should have warned you.

What is that skin disease when it looks like you skin has been bleached?

A couple of week ago i've noticed the skin around my mouth
change a lighter color than I am,im african american but my im light skinned.
and the light color has been expanding down to my chin and nose. Each day its gets bigger!. I made an appointment for a dermatologist but there booked till spetember. And i cant wait that long im VERY concerned about it, and i dont know what it is. Can anybody help me?
----------

You probably are thinking of vitiligo.
However, you might also be thinking of tinea versicolor.

Vitilgo is what MJ's got though if that's your reference. Tinea versicolor is associated with yeast growth so you'd see some darkening of the skin if your skin is light, but, you get lightening if you're dark.... Should it happen to be that, gettin' some selson blue, head and shoulders or the like and washing the area with it daily should help. I know it sounds weird, but, it's cheap and worth tryin' while you're waiting fo the derm.  (+ info)

What is the name of the skin disease that causes a person to have raised warts all over the skin?

I have a paper due in 2 1/2 weeks, and I'd like to get started now, but don't know the name of the disease I'm looking for, lol.
----------

Warts are caused by virus infections. Are you thinking of a disease that causes lots of bumps and growths all over the skin? Perhaps you are thinking of neurofibromatosis ?  (+ info)

Need help on knowing whether or not this is a real skin disease?

Well i do not know this for certain, it is a memory, but one time as a kid, not very long ago 5 years at most, i was at a water park and saw an elderly lady with what looked like bags all over her skin.

Is there a skin disease that causes bags to form on your skin, bags that hang?

What disease is HIPAA-protected and spread by skin contact?

Any ideas?? Apparently one of our clients where I work has something, so now there's this new rule that we have to wear gloves 24/7 and immediately wash any part of our body that touches any client's exposed skin. But no one can tell us what it is due to HIPAA regulations. What the hell could it be? I'm afraid to go to work now... I have kids at home and I'm afraid of bringing back some horrible, incurable, contagious disease...
----------

hipaa protected simply means that the information is private. I'm surprised that caretakers are not in the loop of access. What this actually is is a law that says the patient is due privacy, you don't answer questions for anyone other than the patient or ones who the patient says may be told (in a written release).
As for what diseases? Anything, including hiv, aids, or pregnancy.  (+ info)

who knows about the skin disease called keratosis pilaris?

ok, so i've done some research...
and im pretty sure i have it,
but i just don't get one thing...
the disease causes bumps on the skin, but it's hereditary.
so if the bumps go away,
does that mean that they will always come back?
----------

It seems like they will come back, since they are genetic. Retin-A has helped a friend of mine who had this on her shoulders. You could also use alpha-hydroxy stuff to prevent further stuff.

My general impression is that if you don't exfoliate, it will come back.  (+ info)

How long do you have to wait before a rabies skin test can reliably diagnose the disease?

So I am just trying to figure out if you get a rabies skin test (after being bit), how long does it take for the skin test to be able to tell you if you have rabies or not?
----------

Usually a person who is bit by a rabies suspect animal is not tested but is started on the post exposure rabies injections. You need to call your doctor. Once you have rabies...you die. There is no cure for rabies.  (+ info)

I have sore little lumpy skin on my pinky and 4th fingers both hands, it seems to come and go, what can it be?

They are sore to the touch and the come and go. It seems silly to go to the doctors for something like this (the doctors always seem annoyed by stupid questions!!) any idea what it could be?? The sores are mainly on those fingers but sometimes a bit on the palm too. They are wrinkled like the skin after its been in the bath for ages but with little lumps too.
They are to small for warts! any other ideas?? sob!
