It's a bored wives' tale made up as an excuse for lousy skin by women who sat in the house all day listening to the radio or watching early Television.  (+ info)

Can an unknown animal claw in my skin be harmful or cause disease to me?

I was just out back taking down my shed and an animal claw went into my skin. The animal must have clawed at the shed and lost its nail. As I was gathering the wood from the shed walls, the claw went into my skin and broke skin. I have no idea what type of claw this is but I know there are many rats, racoons, cats behind me because I have the woods nearby. What do you reccomend I do?

What disease would somebody have if skin on their arms, chest, and neck is covered with a dark green crust?

This person's skin is covered with a dark green crust that sometimes flakes off. She says the rest of her family has it as well. It seems to have a rather repulsive odor, but it could just be part of my mind's repulsion mechanism. Does anybody know what this might be?
----------

Silly. It's not a skin condition. They are probably Martians.  (+ info)

Does anyone know the name of the skin disease where you have to keep putting cream on all day?

My sister asked me but i forgot the name of the disease. They had a show about it on TLC a while back.
----------

I seen the same show it was about 2 family's each with 2 daughters who had the disease. It is called Harlequins.
Harlequin-type ichthyosis (also harlequin ichthyosis, ichthyosis congenita, or keratosis diffusa fetalis), is a skin disease, the most severe form of congenital ichthyosis, characterized by a thickening of the keratin layer in fetal human skin, The skin appears as massive, diamond-shaped scales; in addition, the eyes, ears, mouth, and other appendages may be abnormally contracted. The scaly keratin limits the child's movement, and because it is cracked where normal skin would fold, it is easily pregnable by bacteria and other contaminants, resulting in a serious risk of fatal infection  (+ info)

Does anyone know what this skin disease could be?

Does anyone know what this skin disease could be?
Okay, I met this man on the bus, and he had these fleshy bumps all over his body. Some are big, some are small, and he mentioned that it was something he was born with. It is not contagious and it does not hurt him. He told me the name of it, but I forgot. I think it ends with "osis" and it might begin with an "s". But I can't be sure. Anyway, I wanted to reserch it a little.
It is neurofibrometosis! But you are right, it is not to the extent of the elephant man. Bit that is how it looks....the bumps. Thank you so much!

I have red dots on my arms and legs. Do I have a skin disease?

I have these little red dots on my arms and legs all over. It isn't chicken pox or anything, it doesn't itch. Sometimes it isn't that bad, but when i get uncomfortable or nervous it gets really bad. I've had it most of my life, but these past couple of years it has gotten worse. So do I have some kind of a skin disease, and if I do, can I treat it or get rid of it somehow?
----------

It could be Keratosis Pilaris, it's a hereditary skin disorder that a lot of people have. I have it, and it sucks because there is no cure. Fortunately for some, though, it can improve with age. It is the most prominent during adolescence and during the teen years, but for some it starts to clear up a little later on.(some have said that when they entered their mid twenties they noticed that it was less noticeable) There is some really useful information about it on this site that can help you determine whether or not that is the problem:

You can find some info and the symptoms here:

If you do have it one thing you can do is try to moisturize it with lotion (it helps) One really good moisturizer is Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Cream. Don't try to physically exfoliate the skin with things like lofa sponges. Those can be too abrasive and can make it worse. The Eucerin lotion I mentioned has things in it that exfoliates the skin for you, which will give you good results.

If it's not Keratosis Pilaris, thank your lucky stars and be sure to see a dermatologist to see what the problem is and what you can do about it. I had a doctor tell me I was ZINC deficient, but even after taking Zinc for 6 months there was very little improvement. It's actually better in the summer time. In the winter there is less moisture in the air and dryness can make Keratosis Pilaris look worse (which is why moisturizing the skin is a good idea, it’s better to put lotions and creams on right after a shower)

Good luck!  (+ info)

Did Michael Jackson have a skin disease or did he have surgery to bleach his skin color?

I thought about him having a skin disease but I thought to myself, "wouldn't that skin disease run through the whole family, rather then just himself?" because usually, a disease like that runs through a family, i could be wrong though. I love Michael Jackson though, R.I.P babe :'(
----------

he had a rare skin disease, the plastic surgery wasnt to make him white, if you didnt notice, at younger ages like when he shot thriller, he was very dark but in black or white, he was lighter but not white white, and when he passed): he was pale and looked albino. the surgery was after he shot pepsi cola and the bid sign with a whole bunch of light was above him and it blew up then all the ashes fell on him and stuff. also, he was no pedophile, he was accused of it because stupid greedy people wanted his money. he really made an amusement park and stuff, he loved kids as kids, not anything more, he loved to help kids but people accused him of raping or killing or whatever because they wanted his money. Michael jackson did not deserver to die either and i think the world will be much dif. without him. just remember he was racist and he didnt want the disease, he had the surgery after pepsi cola and he was an amazing singer and a huge part of history. RIP m.j. we will never forget you.  (+ info)

can someone help me pick a skin disease?

Gather information about the symptoms, causes, diagnostic tests, and treatments related to the disease.

In the first paragraph explain the disease as though you are talking to a colleague at your place of work.

In the second paragraph describe the disease as though you are explaining it to the patient.
