how do you "abuse" marijuana?

I was reading on this website and it said...

"The drug generally isn't more harmful than alcohol or tobacco if used in moderation. As you'll see by reading research studies from the related links section at the bottom of the page, the studies of the harmfulness of marijuana are inconclusive and contradictory. Most doctors would agree that it's not very harmful if used in moderation. It's only when you abuse the drug that problems start to occur. But isn't abuse of almost any bad substance a problem? If you abuse alcohol, caffeine, Ephedra, cigarettes, or even pizza, health problems are sure to follow. Would you want the government limiting how much coffee you can drink or how much cheesecake you take in? Most doctors believe that marijuana is no more addictive that alcohol or tobacco"

Like if you smoke too much you die? I don't understand. I've watched people smoke like 6 blunts to them themselves or in a small group and they're just "really high" Like what health problems occur?

"Abuse" is when the use of it starts to negatively affect your daily life. However, abuse is no argument against proper use.  (+ info)

What are the effects of marijuana abuse on an adolescent mind?

I was just wondering what happens to a growing mind if they use pot almost daily.
I used pot almost daily from the time I was 14 until ... well ... about 2 weeks ago lol and am now 23. I was just wondering what the effects could be from smoking that often. I mean, I obviously didn't smoke EVERY DAY but almost everyday ... everyday when I could get it, and I had a big group of friends so in most cases at least one of us had some. The longest I went was 3 months without and that was only once just to see the difference. There wasn't much of one.
All in all, I was just wondering what has been found/what the theories are of what marijuana abuse like that does to an adolescent mind.
----------

Everyone is different i feel.

For me i started at 15 now at 23 I'm having all sorts of anxiety, panic, and paranoia problems that i really do feel had something to do with cannabis. I wouldn't blame it totally on it... though it did play its part psychologically.

My own fault really i was smoking 6-10 joints a day from 16 up to 22.
everyday without fail.

I don't think it made me dumb, I already was dumb!...  (+ info)

How can someone help a person heal that suffered sexual abuse as a minor?

I have been seeing this girl for sometime and we became close friends and started hanging out and one day she came by with some marijuana and we had sex. Afterwords she would mention to me about her past. I do not know what I should do? I do care for her so all I told her was that I'm here for her if she needed someone. We had our encounters a few times now and each time she speaks about her past. So I'm unsure what she may be looking for from me.
----------

Having sex may be a painful enocounter emotiontionally for a rape victim. She probably feels that in order to open up to you, she also has to open up about her past. Having sex reminds her of the abuse, which is not something she can forget. She can however, receive help for it. You can either suggest a therapist, or you yourself can help. The next time she says something about it you can say something like this:

You know I am always here for you. Would you like to talk about it more? I promise that I will listen with caring ears.

That kind of stuff. you know? She is not only looking for someone to have sex with, but also to love and protect her. She now opened herself to you which is much more than some bimbo you pick off the street with no abuse in her past. She might be really emotionally tied, because it is a big deal for a victim to open themselves up like that. Unless they are the type that now feels like they have to have sex with everyone (the other possibility.) Just be there for her and cuddle her. :)  (+ info)

Does substance abuse accelerate a bipolar persons mood swings?

If a person were bipolar, and they abused substances like alcohol or marijuana or cocaine, would they experience mood swings while they were high, because i am not bipolar but i might have some traits, and i experience very bad swings in high's, like calm, to sad, to angry, to happy, to crying, to getting aggresive, and sexual. I know this isn't normal, even with substance abuse. So does bipolar disorder affect the abuser's high, by the mood swings?
----------

Your mood swings would be hell. They would be even more all over the place than they are now. It would consist more of anger and sexual arousal. But if you did get sad, it could turn into suicidally. I wouldn't do drugs or drink.  (+ info)

What problems might active substance abuse present for a person who has an anxiety disorder?

What problems might active substance abuse (i.e. alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, etc.) present for a client who has an anxiety disorder? What about for a client with schizophrenia?
----------

Chronic substance abuse can be associated with symptoms of serious mental illness such as schizophrenia. But it can be difficult to determine if the drug abuse is causing symptoms of schizophrenia, or if the schizophrenia is prompting the drug abuse. Some research suggests a link between use of a specific drug, such as marijuana, and development of schizophrenia in individuals who have an underlying predisposition to the disease.

People with schizophrenia are at greater risk of substance abuse. The reason for this isn't clear. But they may use alcohol or drugs to try to relieve or decrease symptoms of the illness. Unfortunately, substance abuse can actually increase symptoms and complicate treatment.  (+ info)

Is this the reason for my negative reaction to marijuana ?

I recently discovered the disease of addiction in my grandfather for marijuana and mostly alcohol. My mother has done everything to avoid these traits by never touching a substance to abuse.

I have tried smoking marijuana on a couple occasions and had terrible reactions, very amplified effects compared to those participating with me. Could this be a sign of possible addiction in me ?
----------

You reaction to Marijuana is due to "projecting", the negative and hurtful behavior you have seen in your grand father. Your mothers belief system, about drugs and addiction has also had a great influence on your thinking. I would, because of those two things think you will never be comfortable smoking Pot. and that is probably a good thing.
But please understand that the effects of the use of alcohol, are the most detrimental know to man. Even in low dosage over a long period of time it will cause addiction and mental illness. This is due to what is called the "residual effect", the residuals build up in the cell's of the body, and the neurons of the brain.  (+ info)

Marijuana abuse? Can I recover?

I have smoked weed for the past 2 years pretty heavily about anywheres from 3 to 5 blunts a day everyday if i go a day without weed i become depressed and consumed with anxiety it seem as if the only time that i am at complete peace is when im smoking weed. My question is has anyone out there experienced the same thing and how long does the depression last? and can my body ever recover from the abuse? how long will it take to get it all completely out of my system? (SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY) PLEASE
----------

It will take a long time and will FEEL about ten times as long...If you really really want to stop it though, you need to change a lot about your life right now. If your friends are the kind of people who will support you, then keep them...if they're the kind of people that will try to get you back into old habits you need to completely cut them out of your life...

I did the same thing you're trying to do 2 years ago and I am really really happy I did it...You THINK you're at "complete peace" but you really don't know what that is until you're completely clean and have learned to be happy with yourself that way...

Its hell but its so worth it...This probably sounds really gay, but it really is worth it...I'm so much happier now and I know its because of how I changed my life.

Also, to anyone who says marijuana isnt addictive, you don't know what youre talking about. >_>  (+ info)
