Whom should I see for retention cyst in right maxillary antrum?

My brain MRI says I have "1cm retention cyst at the right maxillary antrum" Should I see a ENT or Neurology? I can hear my heart beep through my right ear. It bothers me especially when I try to go to sleep. I also have headaches once in a while without any thinkable causes. Not sure if it is related to this as well. My hearing is normal. Anyone who heard or experienced this before, please give me a hand. Thanks.

Seems an ENT would best serve your needs, based on the wiki article, the maxillary antrum is a sinus thing.  (+ info)

After a Maxillary Hypoplasia surgery, when can you smoke?

I had a Maxillary Hypoplasia operation (basically they broke my jawbone and pushed it back) last week. I don't know when I am actually allowed to smoke because technically I am supposed to be on a fluid diet while the tissue in my mouth heals. Will smoking affect the healing process?
----------

definitely yes! smoking will affect the healing process cos it's hot and it contains chemicals that could destroy the healing cells in your mouth

don't smoke until it heals  (+ info)

Have I got sinusitis and how can I treat it without paying too much money?

I suffered with colds constantly on and off all year last year, recently I have had minor migraines and headaches and my sinuses are killing me. My friend said that I could have sinusitis which she suffers from regularly. Do you think I could be suffering from this and if so how can I treat it without paying a lot of money? I am going to try and see the doctor later today about it but they are not very sympathetic and I fear they won't help.

You can check out Sinus Rinse...
Like a netipot, it uses sterile saline solution to rinse out your sinuses.

It should be available from your local pharmacy, over the counter.  (+ info)

Is it possible to have tooth aches because of sinusitis?

My upper jaw, right hand side aches, and the pain travels toward the eye. I checked with my dentist. She said I was fine. So is it because of sinusitis?
----------

Yes. The roots of the upper teeth, usually, infringe upon the sinus cavities. I take Tylenol Sinus when I have a 'very bad day' and, because I take them infrequently, they're 100% effective (available in generic).  (+ info)

How does deviated septum surgery "cure" Sinusitis?

I'm suppossed to have surgery on my deviated septum for Sinusitis and I've heard all the horror stories but still want to go ahead with it. Does anyone know how this surgery helps or cures Sinusitis?
----------

As a deviated septum blocks normal drainage of mucus secreted in the sinuses, & that may result in infection, correcting the deviation will ensure proper drainage and prevent sinusitis.
Hope it helps.
Good luck with your surgery!  (+ info)

Is there a link between sinusitis and pneumonia?

Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with acute sinusitis. After a full course of Amox, nothing has improved.
In fact, this morning I felt worse than before and decided to see my GP again.
He said that I might have pneumonia and prescribed a new set of stronger antibiotics and sent me to hospital for an X-Ray.

Is there any chance that a lung infection and or pneumonia has developed as a result of sinusitis or did having sinusitis 'helped' the pneumonia develop?
----------

Firstly the evidence is that antibiotic therapy has little effect on the outcome of sinusitis. In both treated and untreated groups about 75% of patients have had resolution of symptoms within 2 weeks, with the remaining 25% still being symptomatic.

There is no direct link between sinusitis and pneumonia, however a significant percentage of patients with VIRAL, not bacterial, disease of the respiratory mucosa, which extends from the nasal mucosa to the fine tissue if the lungs, will get both nasal and chest signs and syptoms, neither of these is affected by antibiotics either.  (+ info)

Can sinusitis or allergies have an effect on your mental health?

Just wondering I don't feel as motivated as I should, and yes, I'm well aware that sinusitis or allergies are solely to blame. But do you think physical ailments play a role?
I meant to say "aren't sole to blame" haha
----------

Kind of funny you posted this question, because I've definitely been seeing a correlation with that. Actually, when I get allergies my whole body seems to react to it. I feel like I'm really out of it and can't concentrate, and my heart rate even drops. I can't even think about simple things and can't hold a conversation. It lasts until my allergies subside, then I'm perfectly fine. It's very weird, but yes, considering my symptoms and the correlation between the two, i would say it can effect your mental health  (+ info)
