Why do I only get motion sickness on rides that spin a lot?

I never got motion sickness until I started high school. I was absolutely fine before that. Now, I get sick on anything that spins, I never throw up, I just get very queasy. Roller coasters don't seem do a thing to me. Spinney rides, like the gravitron, make me really sick. Is there any reason that I one type of ride may cause me become sicker than another?

I get motion sickness that causes diarrhea. Any suggestions on what to take for this?

For most of my life I have had motion sickness, especially if I drive long distances. This causes me to get diarrhea instead of the typical nausea that motion sickness causes. I take Bonine for motion sickness, and it works sometimes, but it doesn't prevent diarrhea most of the time. Can you suggest another product or home remedy that I can take before I drive to prevent the diarrhea?

Ginger is great for motion sickness. I'm not sure why but it works.  (+ info)

is morning sickness related to motion sickness or nausea with morning after pill?

I suffer from terrible motion sickness on hills, and once in a while, on the Metro. I had to take the morning after pill once (years back) and suffered from terrible bouts of vomiting all night long. Just wondering if I will have terrible morning sickness when I get pregnant? Are they related? Answers based your personal experience would really help! Thanks!
----------

Not related at all. In fact each pregnancy can vary. I get motion sickness as well. I had horrible morning sickness with my 1st child, but it stopped after week 13. I had occasional morning sickness with my 2nd, and only at night, it stopped around week 11. I just had horrible nausea, with no vomiting, with my 3rd child, it came and went through out.  (+ info)

Is there any effective medicine for acute motion sickness?

my son is of the age of 10 years and is suffering from acute motion sickness. He feels nausea and starts vomiting on every vehicle. I have got him checked from E&T specialist. After conducting two ear tests he said his nerve inside the ear is hyper active and prescribed him some medicines but all efforts proved futile.

Parents: do you find that turning on a DVD player in the car helps prevent motion sickness while driving?

I have a 16 month old who gets really car sick when I drive more than about 20 minutes. I was wondering if any parents out there use a DVD player in the car and if it helps with motion sickness since it might distract them.

Motion Sickness Question: How to prevent motion sickness?

I usally get motion sickness pretty easily.

At amusment parks i can go on one rollercoaster and afterward im done for like 30 mins b/c if i go on another one after that im going to throw up.

And if the rides all about spinning forget it.

Even on some car rides or boats i feel sick once in a while

I want to really try and prevent motion sickness, is there anything that REALLY WORKS! I've tried motion sickness pills but honestly they really do nothing

Any one have any ideas!!!
----------

Ginger Tablets. Seriously!!! Get them from a health food store or pharmacy and take them before you go on anything that causes nausea. They are awesome!!!

I have been on two long cruises and used them then and felt great. I told my family about them and they were the same, including my lil bro who can't even handle long car trips without throwing up.

They are safe enough as well to be taken by pregnant mothers for morning sickness nausea..

Good luck!  (+ info)

Can motion sickness pills help with morning sickness?

I know that probably sounds stupid, but before I knew I was pregnant I had no idea what could be causing my nausea. I thought about buying Bonine, I thought if it stops motion sickness, maybe it will get rid of my nausea. Anyone have an opinion? Or another really good idea to stop my nausea and headaches?
----------

Don't' take the motion sickness pills..Those could harm baby.

Eat small meals throughout the day so that you're never too full or too hungry.
Avoid rich, spicy, greasy or fatty foods.
Avoid foods with smells that bother you or make you nauseous.
Eat more carbohydrates (plain baked potato, white rice or dry toast).
Eat bland foods when you feel nauseous (such as saltine crackers, gelatin desserts such as Jell-O, popsicles, chicken broths, ginger ale and pretzels).
The iron in prenatal vitamins can bother some women. If you think your morning sickness is related to your vitamins, talk with your doctor and he or she may change your vitamins.
Before getting out of bed in the morning, eat a few saltine crackers to calm your stomach.

There are certain vitamins and medications you can take but you will need to talk to your doctor about those.

Is Dramamine safe to take for motion sickness during pregnancy?

If not, is there any motion sickness medicine that is safe to take? I am going on a car trip and I usually get car sick. This is the first trip I have taken since getting pregnant (I am 22 weeks) and I am really nervous about it. Thanks! :)

I would definitely ask your OB first before taking anything that you are unsure of. I did google this for you but I would ask my doctor before. i listed the website if you wanted to see for yourself

Is it safe to take medication to combat motion sickness during pregnancy?
Is it safe to take medication to combat motion sickness during pregnancy?

There's no problem with taking dimenhydrinate (Dramamine) for motion sickness during pregnancy; pregnant women have used this medication for a long time without apparent problems.

If you're not sure about the safety of an over-the-counter medication during pregnancy, give your doctor a call.

Stick to over-the-counter drugs that contain dimenhydrinate (Dramamine) or diphenhydramine (Benadryl). But avoid prescription drugs like scopolamine — they're not dangerous for your baby, but they can cause side effects such as dizziness, tremors, fatigue, and confusion that would be uncomfortable for you.  (+ info)

What is the best remedy for motion sickness?

Please give me your personal experience or knowledge. I am going to a wedding in Key West that will be on a Schooner and I want to be prepared in case I experience sea sickness!
----------

The Captain of the ship, boat or whatever rarely if ever gets "seasick"...but others do... WHY? >>>Simply because he has MANY thing to keep him busy..... running the boat.... making decisions of many ..... watching for dangers... making sure his crew and or passengers are safe.... and the list goes on.....His mind is too occupied with other things to think about getting seasick...... whereas... the passengers..... get to watching the boat go up and down... side to side..... the waves and seas attempting to swallow the craft, etc....with the help of the fear of drowning and the assistance of the inner ear..... you become seasick, or suffer from motion sickness....it is the same thing....

Best Prevention:

Eat a light meal prior to the boatride...

KEEP your mind occupied.....upon as MANY things as possible........

Laughter and talking.... also seems to help prevent it....

Keep cool.... pour cold water over your head if needed....

and >>> Do not watch someone else vomit....

And a little known fact: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SMILE WHEN YOU ARE (Truly) SEASICK! so as long as you can smile..... you're OK!  (+ info)
