Can you get Dry socket from mouth breathing?

I just got 4 wisdom teeth pulled about 4 hours ago. Its still bleeding and I'm worried that breathing in through my mouth will cause Dry Socket?
----------

Why are you breathing through your mouth? You should not be still bleeding 4 hours post op. I am assuming your dentists office gave you extra gauze so take some pieces fold them over and put them back there and bite down. Pressure is the only thing that is going to get this bleeding under control. If you are breathing through your mouth you arent biting down as hard as you need to. You can also bite down on tea bag that is soaked in lukewarm water, that will help restrict blood flow. Dry socket is not caused by air it is caused when the blood clot dislodges. Good luck.  (+ info)

Can you get the same amount of oxygen breathing through your mouth?

I have a deviated nose septum. I basically don't have a left nostril internally. I can only breath through one nostril at a time, and whenever my right side closes and my nose wants to breath through the left is when I have minimal air flow. I go into a panic and I'm always gasping for air and yawning literally every 3 minutes or so. This is a method my body developed in order to stop the panic and get oxygen.

Can you get the same amount of air and oxygen through your mouth alone as through your nose? If the answer is yes, then I will try to stop the gasping and yawning.
----------

how old are you exactly? you have a deviated septum, and in all these years of life on planet earth, you weren't intelligent enough to adapt and breathe through your mouth? Is this a serious question? You can get more air through your mouth. Larger hole, more air flow. It will dry you out like the respiratory therapist said. Are you gasping for air while sitting quietly watching tv, or running 5 miles. You yawn to blow off extra carbon dioxide, take some deeper breaths, dude, get your air way fixed by an ear nose and throat doctor. your question makes you sound hypoxic.  (+ info)

Why do i get a bad taste in my mouth from breathing deep? and what can i do about it?

This only happens sometimes. But when i breath really deep the scent seems to go through my nose and into my mouth, and iam stuck with that taste for a couple hours. and it makes food taste nasty. It will happen anytime, when iam eating or drinking, but mostly when i eat.
----------

This happens to me when I run for a long time or exercise really hard. I don't know how it would work for you, but i usually just drink a lot of water and stop exercising and it goes away pretty quickly.  (+ info)

Is it normal to wheeze a little when breathing through the mouth?

Im a 20 y./o male and I noticed tonight that I wheeze a little when I breathe through my mouth....is it like that for everyone?
----------

not really. you might be getting a cold or something. I have asthma so i wheeze a little sometimes, especially after working out or if I've been sick. If your just wheezing alittle you might just be a little congested.. try taking a hot shower, the steam will help break stuff up. If it continues for more then a few days, or gets worse, you might want to talk to a doctor.  (+ info)

Whats the best way to train myself to stop breathing through my mouth while I sleep and use my nose instead?

I've been breathing through my mouth since I was young because I would get stuffy noses. I have read from numerous sources that breathing through the nose is more beneficial and can reduce snoring and other sleep related issues. Breathing through the mouth can also affect the alignment of your teeth and jaw.
----------

put something over your mouth so you can't breathe through it.  (+ info)

Can the air breathing through your nose go directly to your mouth?

Okay so if I take a breath through my nose can it get to my mouth before it reaches my lungs or does it have to go through the lungs first to get into my mouth?
----------

Can't you feel it in the back of your throat when you inhale? It enters your sinus cavity and travels through the back of your throat to the lungs. That is why sometimes if you laugh when drinking milk white fluid can be seen running out of your nostrils. Look up Anatomy to see a cut-away of the respiratory system.  (+ info)
