i want to know some detailed information about mucopolysaccharidosis?

The mucopolysaccharidoses are a group of inherited metabolic diseases caused by the absence or malfunctioning of lysosomal enzymes needed to break down molecules called glycosaminoglycans - long chains of sugar carbohydrates in each of our cells that help build bone, cartilage, tendons, corneas, skin and connective tissue. Glycosaminoglycans (formerly called mucopolysaccharides) are also found in the fluid that lubricates our joints.  (+ info)

A very broad term for a class of genetic disorders that affect cell metabolism and can present a wide array of physical defects. Way too much to deal with here. Do a web search. Overall, about 1 in 25,000, but it depends on which of several syndromes you're talking about.  (+ info)
