What is a good rate for someone trying to gain muscle? One pound a month of solid muscle?


I weigh 190 right now and am working towards 175. After that I want to gain muscle up to 205. I know its going to be a long process and I know that I'll be burning fat and gaining muscle at the same time. I figured a good rate would be one pound of solid muscle a month. Is that hard to do? I'll be running 3 days a week and working out muscles everyday with a high protein and high calorie diet. Any tips too?

Well depends on how long you have been working out really.But yea it's good,personally i suggest you ignore cardio due to the fact that muscle burns fat shit fast while cardio reduces muscle mass,i go the gym too and if i consumed approx 2k calories per day i could lose 2.2 pounds in 2 days.(That's been measured)Trick is to eat nuts meat and eggs,stay away from sugar.  (+ info)

How does gorilla gain muscle mass from only eating plants?


A male gorilla can weigh up to 500lbs and most of their weight comes from lean muscle mass. The thing is, muscle cells are made up of mostly protein and gorillas mostly eat plants (which contain little protein). That's like building a big strong house without any bricks and etc.

What's the difference between lean muscle and bulky muscle?


It's very common to hear... "More reps with less weight leads to leaner muscle." and "Less reps with more weight leads to bulky muscle."

What does this mean?

How much muscle mass can I expect to gain with creatine?


I'll be using 1000g of GNC's brand of Creatine Monohydrate. Assume I will use all my potential in the gym, do proper workouts, take the creatine when it's best, and of course drink a lot of water. How many pounds of muscle will I be able to gain? I'll also be consuming 1g of protein for every pound on my body. Any estimates? Thanks! Any tips are appreciated.

You can expect a 2-3 pound increase in muscle mass in the first few weeks of using it. Some have claimed this just water weight, and this partially true. Creatine will cause you to hold more water in your muscle cells, which is why you need to drink plenty of water when taking it. The fact that much of the weight gain is water weight does not negate creatine's benefits though. The additional water makes the muscle more anabolic and also increases your strength.  (+ info)

i want to know how many pounds of muscle i can possibly build in 3 months with no extra body fat. i lift weights and then go swim for an hour for cardio.swimming builds muscle and also burns fat right??what else do you recommend i do to add muscle mass but no extra body fat.also muscle burns body fat right? so how many pounds of muscle do i need to build to lose 1% body fat. thnx for all your help.

i could be wrong dude but i think it's impossible. And 1 more thing, any fat percentage below like 6 is dangerous for the body, I always have to watch out.

What is the strongest muscle in the human body?


I've heard different muscles, I've heard people say that it's the tongue, I've heard the hamstrings, I've heard also the gluteus maximus(butt)? Which muscle is the strongest in the human body?

id say the hamstrings/glutes/and quads because they generate your walking power and really have the capacity to make you move. also i think they may be the strongest because they are the largest.  (+ info)

How do I tell the difference between muscle and fat on my body?


I hate my thighs. Their big and unnatractive!
But, my dad says their big cause its all muscle.

I want to try and work the things on my body that isn't muscle, like fat, to tone up a bit.

Like, my arms are flabby,but when I flex my arms their is no more flab. Does that mean its muscle?

I just want to start working out to lose some weight and gain some muscle. What supplements are best for this? Like anything that will boost metabolism, lessen the burning in muscles while working out, anything that will build muscle? Just need a few tips on it because I'm new to this. Thanks alot!

What is muscle confusion and does it really work?


I've heard about this muscle confusion thing from a friend of mine. He's been doing the P90X Program and they talk about it a lot. I also saw and ad for this program called Athlean X which talks about it. Does it really work? Anyone try either workout program?
