You can say that you were a veteran soldier who participated in Afghanistan. And after seeing someone die a horrible death, you still have those reoccurring thoughts and images.  (+ info)

Can the cause of a giant cell tumor be post traumatic?

I recently had surgery on my right thumb for ligament repair from a slip and fall, there after I developed what doctors call- a giant cell tumor on that same right thumb finger. Could the growth of the tumor be post-traumatic?
thanks for answering my question. Is there any way I can prove that it is post traumatic?
----------

You have to wonder. Any trauma is followed by healing, which involves rapid cell division and involves the chance of mutations arising from the cell division, which could lead to cell disregulation and a tumor. Good luck on getting through this!  (+ info)

How does post traumatic stress disorder differ from acute stress discorded?

How does post traumatic stress disorder differ from acute stress discorded
----------

Hi Krystlin. The only difference between Acute Stress Disorder and PTSD is the length of time that symptoms have been experienced. If the symptoms have been present for less than 30 days, then criteria is not met for PTSD and the diagnosis is Acute Stress. After 30 days, PTSD is the correct diagnosis. The actual diagnostic criteria are essentially the same. All the best.  (+ info)

Is it possible to develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from watching a graphic horror movie at a young age?

If a young child (around the age of 7-8) watches an extremly graphic, and distubring horror movie would it be possible for them to develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder?

What are your opinions on this, is it highly unlikley?
----------

Possibly the child could be so disturbed and frightened from the movie that they could develop some kind of disorder. But i think it would be more likely if it was some kind of experience they had. but i would think that movies could do the trick as well.. interesting question.. heres a star  (+ info)

what are the symptoms of post-traumatic stress?

A member of my family died tragically last week after falling off the balcony of the apartment that I rent to him and his younger brother.
i know, legally it is not my fault, as he was drunk, but I am feeling so overwhelmed and stressed.
is this post-traumatic or grief or both?
----------

One week is way too soon to diagnose post traumatic stress disorder. Anyone would feel like that under the situation.

Post traumatic stress disorder includes symptoms of dreaming about or having visions about the distressing event that go on for at least six months.

What you are describing sounds a lot more like Bereavement (grief). It may be a good idea to see a counselor--that is an awful lot to deal with.

One person said "depression"--it's not justified to diagnosis depression only two weeks after an event like that. Features of Bereavement look almost exactly like clinical depression--the way to tell the difference is how long it lasts.

I would say see if you feel exactly the same way after three or four months. If you don't think you are dealing with it any better after that long of a time, talk to a doctor.  (+ info)

Why I have been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder?

I had a few violent relationships from age 20- 23 and find it hard to trust people so I keep people at a distance.
But I have had panic attacks and agoraphobia since the age of 9.
Post-Traumatic stress Disorder or something else ?
Also I have always had a hard time expressing myself in person to people I don't know well.
----------

Do events you see that relate to it even if you see it through media sources, tv that will trigger problems and cause you now very hard times to view things that are close to what you suffered.

I ask this cause myself, I was in a severe accident, could have easily died, really could have with a C-1 fracture (broken neck) on cervical 1 with other issues that I don't even want to talk about witch is not like me, but points to PTSD and whenever I see on tv that resembles a accident, a bad accident with blood all over the victims of the accident. I just can't watch it, or have great trouble and triggers a lot of issues. Dreams use to come and really bother me,

I handle these issues the wrong way using diazepam too flood myself of all these triggers/thoughts and never experienced anything like this before.

Even though I will heal from all the injuries, I was lucky and could have even had temporarily or full paralysis so even though I feel lucky, I still get these attacks. what I am saying is if you don't think you have it, ask yourself if you experience any of the symptoms of it and really, experiences myself, something that you never really experienced before.  (+ info)

How do i fix myself from post traumatic stress disorder?

if i mentally rehearsed the traumatic scene and took all the stress out on my punch bag all at once could it make me worst? because i tried that once and is was as if i could see and feel things again. it felt amazing, it was like i was normal again.. but after that happened i started drifting deeper into numbness until the point where i could not realize if i was alive or dead... i want to fix myself but i cant go and see anyone.. can you give me any tips that could help me recover by myself please?

thank you.
----------

I'm going through the same thing. Everyone tells me to "just get over it" and it really annoys me. But maybe it IS that simple. Just get over it, even though the pain and memory is still there, just try to busy yourself and live life and move and live beyond your feelings.

I think it's good to honor your feelings and all that, but living too much in your feelings and having your life be affected by it is not a good way of honoring your feelings.  (+ info)
