Nail problem. What is this? How do I treat it?

My pinky toes are weird. The nails on both of them are really thick and sort of resemble claws. I don't know why they do that. I don't think it's a fungus because they've always been like this and my feet aren't infected. I do cut my nails, they just grow this thick and have always looked that way. Because of their thickness, they're not clear like my other nails, but greyish. I don't know what is wrong with me. I looked up Onychogryphosis and Onychomycosis and stuff like that. I don't know if they apply to me because my feet aren't diseased or anything. My pinky toes have always bee like this. What do I do? How can I fix it?

You are not the only one suffering onychomycosis (pronounced EE KO my CO SIS) as at any one time it is generally thought that 13% of the US population suffer this condition. It is not life threatening, but the blemishes don't look attractive and hence a $3 billion dollar industry. I have written extensive articles on this subject and hope that the links below will help you get a good cure.

I am glad to have been a help to you.

Should I leave work because of paronychia?

I was recently diagnosed with paronychia and onychomycosis on my right thumbnail from a terrible nail infection at the nail salon. I had been getting acrylic nails consistently for the past 7 months and it's treated me badly now that I have an infection. The problem is, I work in a restaurant o during every shift I am constantly exposed to water for about 6 hours straight. However, I do not soak my hands in water or wash dishes--I simply wash when needed. I started wearing a finger cot on my thumb, but noticed that water can still get through. After my shift, I take off the finger cot and notice that my nail is still a bit moist from when water may have gotten through the cot. My doctor said to wear rubber gloves, but there is no way I can wear gloves as a server in a restaurant. If I continue to wear the cot, will it preven the oral antifungal meds from working and prolong the infection? Should I refrain from working fro 2 months?

Falsies look so good but they are so bad for your nails. Your nails can't breathe therefore become extremely weak and brittle and also are because falsies are so strong you can easily catch them and cause and infection and not even realise.
So what to do....Rehab for the nails basically:
Soak your nails in water with a drop each of tea tree oil, tangerine oil and lavender oil. Tea tree is and antibacterial so it will fight any infection lurking (if any) tangerine helps to stimulate nail growth and lavender sooths. Soak for five to 10 minutes then apply a hand and nail cream to the nails. Rub a little ammount onto each nail making sure each one is completely covered. You can do this when you go bed if you prefer and just apply a thick layer to the nail and pop on a pair of gloves. In the morning the cream will have soaked in.
You can also buy a rescue nail hardners that are in a nail varnish available at boots, superdrug and pretty much any supermarket
Hope this helps your nails =]  (+ info)

Can anyone tell me about Lamisil??

hi i'm 16 years old and have been taking Lamisil for almost a week now for onychomycosis on my two big toes. I wanted to know if it truly does work since I was really self concious about my condition for a while until I finally did see a doctor a little while ago. I mean, it definately isn't as bad as the pics you see on the internet about toenail infections but I just wanted to get your opinion thanks :)

Go up with your doctor & procedure....everything will go fine,don't worry,be bold & confident.....good luck.  (+ info)
