Anyone who has had a breast papilloma with bleeding?

I have recently been told by a surgeon that I have a breast papilloma. I have had numerous problems with infections etc. on one breast and this same breast showed three cysts on Mammo and Ultrasound. The doc says they are benign and then a day later, after visiting him for an opinion on the mammogram and ultrasound, I had a bit of spontaneous bleeding from that same breast. I got a smear from it and that came back as having no cancer cells. My doctor would have hung up the phone but I asked if papillomas go away and he said no. Then he said I could have surgery "if I wanted to". I am feeling at a loss here. What have others been told when having this condition? Why is surgery a good option or a bad one? I want to hear opinions of others that have been through this or know someone else who has.

What are the symptoms for Human Papilloma Viruses?

Most common signs are a abnormal pap- HOWEVER you can still have HPV and have a normal pap due to the virus being able to lie dormant. After a abnormal pap they would biopsy the area to determine HPV. There are two types low risk and high risk. One is more common on cervical cancer and the other is more common of genital warts. Which is also a sign and if you see those you should see your OB-GYN. There is no cure for HPV but if you have the warts you can get them removed....the use a acid it's a in office procedure.   (+ info)

do i still need to use condoms if my husdband and i both carry the human papilloma virus?

No you dont. You probably caught the virus from one and other anyway. You need to make sure that you get regular pap smears though. The HPV is connected to cervical cancer.

I suggest that you get a gardisal vaccination (cervical cancer)  (+ info)

Hey,
I went through a sinus surgery for that, or rather, what they though was that. (I guess they can appear in different parts of the body, but mine was in my nose.)
Turned out, it wasn't but the surgery they did was for it, because until they got up there, they didn't know it wasn't.
Anyway, I had endoscopic surgery, and I am TERRIFIED of surgeries!
But honestly, this was no big deal. I went in, cried a lot, they knocked me out, I woke up, My nose was a little sore, but nothing big. I barely bled at all. I never took anything more than a Tylenol, and I only took one, the first day. I really didn't need the pain meds.
I will say this though: you feel like your knocked on your butt for like two weeks. And the steriods are a nightmere, if you have the side effects I did.
Two weeks to the day that I had surgery, I was fine.
I'd do it again, so it couldn't have been that bad!
If you want to know more, just e-mail me!  (+ info)

how long does the surgery for atypical papilloma itself take?

Ask your Dr what to expect.

You have not given location or any other information that is pertinent.

You have mentioned that it is atypical, this means unusual.

You have given no information on what way this papilloma is unusual.

Your Dr would be the best one to advise.  (+ info)

5. There is a vaccine against human papilloma virus. What disease could this vaccine potentially eradicate?

It won't eliminate anything. It is only effective against four strains of HPV.

It could dramatically cut the incidence of cervical cancer though.

Edit: Eradication in epidemiology means the willful extinction of a disease causing organism. Smallpox was eradicated. Polio has been eradicated from the Western hemisphere, ect.

The current HPV vaccine could not even potentially accomplish this.  (+ info)
