How can I cure dislocation of the acromioclavicular joint?

It is accompanied by rupture of coraco-clavicular ligament.
----------

it sounds like you have seen a doctor, by rupture i assume that the ligament is completely torn, and the only way for a complete tear of a ligament to heal is surgery. After surgery the muscles will be very weak and it will be very easy to re dislocate the joint, your doctor will most likely recommend physical therapy to strengthen the muscles around the joint. however if you have not seen a doctor see one, this injury won't heal on its own.  (+ info)

What would physical therapy be like for a kneecap dislocation?

I recently dislocated my kneecap, and I'm wondering what to expect about the physical therapy. Is it particularly painful? How long does it take? Any answers would be appreciated :)
----------

Same exact thing happened to me. I was at a movie with friends, next thing I knew I was waking up on the ground with my kneecap on the backside of my leg. Hurts, doesn't it?

I had to do physical therapy for six months. One of the main things he had me do was put a big elastic around both of my ankles and walk in this silly way that strained my kneecap a little, trying to make the muscles around it stronger. He had a series of five or six exercises using this elastic, I had to do them for about a half hour there and then he had me do it for an hour at home. I also did a lot of things that were similar to how you'd exercise in a gym, lunges and such. Jumping jacks, stuff to ensure your kneecap can continue to support your full weight.

It hurt at first, because it's straining the exact muscles and ligaments you've already hurt. But, after about three times of doing the exercises, it didn't particularly bother me.

As I already stated, I had to do it for six months. But, my case was a little bit extreme, considering my kneecap was on the back side of my leg for a period of time before I figured out what had happened and snapped it back.

I hope you feel better soon :]  (+ info)

My Patellar Tendin Hurts what should I do?

I am 15 and My Patellar Tendin has been hurting for about 6 Months. My Doctors can't give me much about it. They just say to Ice and heat it. I've done all and it still hurts when I run. I started wearing a strap for extra support and that helps but It is still acting up. I have gotten on the stim machine and Ultra sound and nothing is helping. Any suggestions?

THanks a lot.

sounds like you have pattellas tendinitis(jumpers knee)
if i were you i would go to your GP and get refferred to a specialist who will probably send you for a scan and then recommend physiotherapy and if that does not work he may reccommend a cortisone injection or if worse comes to worse surgery, Dont keep running on it you will make it worse
Tendinitis is a bugger to get rid of and if you dont do it properly there is a high chance it will come back
speak to a specialist
get better soon  (+ info)

What is a good knee support to use after kneecap dislocation?

I recently dislocated my patella - aka kneecap - when I was swinging a baseball bat. Fortunately, I do not appear to have any real ligament damage.
Is there a good device (looking for specific ones if possible) that will help keep my patella in place in the future? It was not a pleasant experience, and I don't want to be fearful of it happening again.

Dave your best bet is a physical therapist since they can tell you which particular brands they ahve had good luck with, otherwise anyone can tell you anything, or see if your sports doctos recommends something special, good luck  (+ info)

How do i strengthen my elbow after dislocation?

This is the second time ive dislocated my bo'

its been about a month and im done with the streches.
i do curls with a 20 lb weight to get the strenght back
but when i try to do a push up i still feel a lilttle pain
not alot. i can do them but i need it back to 100%.

so is there anything i can do other than curls and push ups to get the strenght back in my elbow??

thanks!
----------

You have a few options open to you. Since you have weights you can do some triceps kickbacks. This is a movement where the upper arm gets as close to parallel to the floor as possible. The lower portion of the arm is parallel to the legs. Grasp the weight and move the lower arm up until the entire arm is straight. This will strengthen the triceps. Another movement would be using free weights doing a bench press movement. Here do the movement very slowly using a light weight. The movement should take about ten seconds in each direction, hence the reason for it being a light weight. Only one set is necessary of ten to fifteen repetitions. These movements should help to stabilize the elbow. Don't push the push ups as there is a considerable amount of stress on the elbow. If you need further exercises call the physical therapist that treated you and ask for some.  (+ info)

How much time do I have to wait after a hip dislocation to ride my byke through the streets again?

I had a hip dislocation almost six weeks ago, and I'm still using crutches, the fact is that my only way of transport is my byke, and I like it. I can't ask my orthopedist because he lives in another state, so ... could any doctor around tell me when can I ride my byke again?
I had a 1st grade dislocation, without any minour fractures, I just want another opinion, please
----------

well it depends on the original grade of dislocation, if you canĀ“t go to your orthopedist but have your x-rays go to someone else, if not try calling your orthopedist, and ask him about rehab too  (+ info)

how long after a knee dislocation should i be walking regularly and playing sports again?

I have dislocated my knee once again, and it is swollen very stiff and bruised. I had to take school off for today due to the pain. I would like to know if anyone has an idea of about how long i should be resting my leg before walking daily again (stairs allot all day.etc) and also getting back into weight training at school.

My opinion? 5 Months. But if you're interested to see what millionheads thinks - go to www.millionheads.com and ask your question there to tap the wisdom of crowds. You'll get a pie-chart back giving you a definitive answer, rather than a bunch of opinions. Good luck!  (+ info)

My knee popped out the side the other day. Is it a true dislocation?

I was getting ready to get up from my seat when I felt a tingling pain in my knee. I took a look at my knee and the skin near my knee was bulging out the right side. Luckily my cousin was around to pop the bone right in, since everything I was trying wasn't working and the pain was getting bad. So was it a true dislocation, you know the one where I need to go visit a orthopedic for.
----------

Its probably more likely a subluxation, but you should see a doctor either way. Dislocations can mess with a lot of things inside your joints.  (+ info)
