What processes occur in the body during a period of critical stress?

Can someone who knows this stuff please inform me on the processes that occur in the body during a period of severe stress. I have heard things like stress makes you gain weight, stress makes you lose muscle mass, stress causes increased blood sugar levels, stress causes the breakdown of protein in the body and increased fat storage. However, I am not exactly sure how many of these are true and am interested in finding out the real facts behind stress.

What physiological processes within his body caused his erythrocyte count to increase in the past 6 weeks?

Daniel, a pilot for a paramedical squad, has recently been stationed to Mexico City for 3 months. Six weeks after his arrival, a routine medical examination shows that his erythrocyte count is elevated, his respiratory rate is above normal, and his hemoglobin O2 saturation level is lower than normal.

What physiological processes within his body caused his erythrocyte count to increase in the past 6 weeks?

Stress is the body's reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses.

Stress is a normal part of life. Many events that happen to you and around you,and many things that you do yourself, put stress on your body. You can experience stress from your environment, your body, and your thoughts.

How does stress affect health?

The human body is designed to experience stress and react to it. Stress can be positive, keeping us alert and ready to avoid danger. Stress becomes negative when a person faces continuous challenges without relief or relaxation between challenges. As a result, the person becomes overworked, and stress-related tension builds.

Stress that continues without relief can lead to a condition called distress,a negative stress reaction. Distress can lead to physical symptoms including headaches, upset stomach, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, and problems sleeping. Research suggests that stress also can bring on or worsen certain symptoms or diseases.

Stress also becomes harmful when people use alcohol, tobacco, or drugs to try to relieve their stress. Unfortunately, instead of relieving the stress and returning the body to a relaxed state, these substances tend to keep the body in a stressed state and cause more problems.  (+ info)

Estheticians or those who know about facials:Giving myself a facial. What order should I apply these processes?

Steam
Deep Cleansing Oil
Facial Scrub
Facial Cleanser
Enzyme Facial Mask
Facial Toner
Moisturizer

I'm guessing that this is the general order but if not, please or amend any way you like.
Should I steam face while the enzyme mask is on?
Should steam be added at any other process?
Any other tips or specifics on doing these processes?

Would like any useful info. Thanks.
----------

1. cleansing oil( presumabely the oil is first to remove all makeup) and then facial cleanser
2.facial toner
3. steam skin With facial scrub on and work scrub with pads of finger into skin
4.apply mask leave on according to time amount on product info
5. moisturizer

added note... you can steam with the mask on but it will completely slow down the enzyme acitivity due to the humidity and moisture content contrary to what some say about enzyme masks
... Personally, i would apply a sunscreen after the moisturizer for added protection  (+ info)

outlined in 2-4 slides. Include detailed speaker’s notes that describe each process and
explain how these processes are interrelated. Be sure to include references and citations
from at least two sources.

What equipment exactly is it that processes wheat, soy, peanuts, other tree nuts?

Just curious what kind of equipment is used that processes all these.
----------

well i work at a candy company and there are big machines that basically push or bring the peanuts etc. up a tube and then it gets packaged into bags and then into boxes. we do peanuts and and other tree nuts. there are basically three main parts of the machine, the hopper, in which you put the product, then there is the elevator, which brings the product up to the scales and those weigh how much per bag and then it comes out the tube and the jaws in the machine cut the bag off and then it falls into a conveyor belt and off to the boxes and thats that hope this answered your question.  (+ info)

Aid for families of multiple births after artificial processes?

Often on television and talk show programs, you see families where multiple births have occurred as the result of artificial processes. Those receiving these treatments are well aware of the risks and financial/emotional burdens associated with multiple births, as many are also well informed by their doctors.

But, even after this, US celebrity is quick to jump onto the bandwagon and donate freebies (everything from food, clothes, toys, diapers, money) for these families. Why? What is your opinion on this?

Also, do you believe that those who take part in these treatments, resulting in any number of births--even just with one child, should be eligible to receive aid or benefits from the state (including welfare, medicaid, etc.)? Why or why not?
----------

The freebies question is easy...advertising for the companies who give the stuff!
As for benefits, yes of course they should be eligible. They pay their taxes the same as everyone else....not to give them the same as regular citizens who don't have problems conceiving could be construed as discrimination!  (+ info)
