If they were to remove the pituitary gland before puberty, how would that effect that person's life?

Would doing so stop that person from going through age diseases such as Alsheimers? Would it allow that person to live longer?
I'm not sure if that person would live longer but you would not go through the normal changes in puberty such as height increase, emotions, etc. because the pituitary gland releases the hormones that trigger most changes in puberty.  (+ info)

I read my numerology report it said i will have health issues with growth of bones, fats, digestion, and going bald. Also said i might have diabetes( my grandfather had diabetes). Or a child that might have both genitals parts or blood pressure problem, even mental condition. This was said do to something with my Pituitary Gland how can i check if i will have those problems. Please help im really freaked out!!!! ;(
I am not a sure a doctor will check you based on a chart, but if you have symptoms, you can get checked.

Pituitary symptoms can be very subtle, and are often attributed to other diseases so people that have the disorders go undiagnosed for long periods. I went over a decade and I know another who went for over 30 years.

That being said, tests of blood, urine, saliva and imaging done properly will help. Get to a proper doctor and get testing.  (+ info)

what's the difference between being just being short and having pituitary dwarfism?

im doing a disease/condition report and i don't really get what the difference is because pituitary dwarfism is caused by not enough hormone production so the bones won't grow or w.e. yah i also need to know more.........
Being just short means that you are short in comparison to the population at large. This is because you are carrying the genes for shortness. You acquired these genes from your family. So if you are about your mom's height or your dad's height than you are short.

Pituitary dwarfism is dwarfism due to under production of Human Growth Factor (the hormone which controls human growth. This is a disease. It is treated, if diagnosed early by replacing the missing hormone.  (+ info)

My Dr. diagnosed me with hypothalmic pituitary disease, after doing blood tests. Apparently I have a hormone imbalance which also affects my menstrual cycle.I am having a hysterectomy for uterine bleeding. I'm wondering IF byetta will help me loose weight quickly?
I used byetta for Diabetes... And they say it will help you lose weight. However, while taking it I was so nausieated all the time. I felt dizzy and felt like I was going to throw up all the time.

I don't know if you will feel this way but that is one of the common side effects.

I think that is why you lose weight because you don't feel like eating that's for sure.

What does the pituitary gland control and where is it?

I was told that the pituitary gland controls a woman's breast size, is this true or false? What else does this gland do? How can I determine if this gland is malfunctioning? My family doctor and gynecologist doesn't know the answers to my questions. If someone out there knows anything about this gland and what it does, would mean the world and all to me!
Prior to my stomach surgery in 2000, I have been in a double D bra since I was 20 yrs. old. But after my stomach surgery my breasts are growing more and more. Now my breasts are in the size K and soon my breasts will be too big for my new size K bra! I am chronically having upper back and shoulder pain from these breasts. My doctors told me to have a breast reduction done. If I do this will my breasts start to grow again? And how do I determine if the pitituary gland is dysfunctional?

I smoked Marijuana for over 10 years and have had hypothyroid issues, especially my (TSH) levels. I quit 2 months ago and do not plan to use ever again. Im wondering if my Pituitary gland function will return to normal, or is the damage done for good. My sister and mother were in a car wreck and as part of the dr visits they did an mri/cat scan of her head and neck. I know it is in the brain so I dont need to know where it is. But what does it do. The drs assistant called and said they needed to see her asap and it had to do with her pituitary gland. But she could not go into detail. In the meantime my mom is scared. What does it do? I have been all over the web and its in such medical mumbo jumbo I cant understand it. Without being mean, could you please tell me in terms a person who does not speak dr will understand.

The pituitary gland is responsible for sex hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, ADH, growth hormone etc., If one part of the pituitary breaks down, then it would cause a hormonal imbalance.  (+ info)
