Which of the following diseases usually spread through milk?

Which of the following diseases usually spread through milk?
(i)Plague
(ii)Poliomyelitis
(iii)Typhoid
(iv)Diphtheria
----------

None of the above are spread via milk as a rule. Plague is spread by the plague virus, carried by fleas who bite infected victims and then a new person. Polio is spread strictly from human to human, it has no other vectors, which is why they were so sucessful at eliminating it. It used to spread through contaminated water, sewage contaminated as a rule- but it could be spread in undertreated pools and such. Infected persons shed the polio virus in just about all their secretions. Typhoid is also spread only human to human, there are no animal vectors. It spreads through water contaminated by sewage primarily, although humans can be carriers and spread it to others in food. Diptheria has been documented as spread in unpasteurized milkl, but people are still the only known reservoirs of the infection. It is primarily spread via airborne droplets or contact with the infected nasal secretions of an ill person. It would likely be introduced into the milk at the dairy, and as it is not pasteurized it could then infect those who drank it. But when the milk came from the cow, it was not contaminated- it still must be contaminated by an ill person. So none of the diseases are primarily spread through milk, they are all still primarily transmitted person to person, as they have no other vectors. Just different means of transmission.  (+ info)

Vaccine topic-your feedback please-thoughtful responses only!?

The discovery and preparation of vaccines was welcomed as a sign of progress in the late 19th century and on through the advent of the Salk poliomyelitis vaccines in the 1950s. And yet, immunization rates are down significantly for the under served as well as for the more affluent. give me your reasons, other than the economic, why this might be so. How does this affect public safety? Should the government make immunizations mandatory? Justify your responses please~Thanks!

Which of these vaccinations is the most painful?

hi, i am traveling to Nepal in august and need to get a number of vaccinations. I am really not the biggest fans of vaccinations as they can be quite painful to me OBV making me more nervous for when i go to get more.

Out of these vaccinations which is the most painful and which ones should i not really feel??

Minimum Basic Required Vaccinations for Nepal
Typhoid
Diphtheria*
Poliomyelitis*
Tetanus*
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis B
Japanese Encephalitis

* Diphtheria, Poliomyelitis and Tetanus are often given as one vaccination.
----------

I used to get allergy shots as a kid so I'm used to needles but the last tetanus shot I had hurt like hell, it burned going in & my arm was sore for days. The only other one you've listed that I've had was a Hep B and that's given in a series of 3 vaccinations so I'd start with that one since you're leaving in August. In fact, you won't even have time for the 3rd shot because I think the 1st & 3rd are supposed to be administered a minimum of 16 weeks apart. Maybe you can still go with just the first 2?  (+ info)

E. Ataxia
G. Cerebral Palsy
J. Convulsion
K. Dementia
L. Encephalitis
M. Epilepsy
Y. Paresis
W. Poliomyelitis
Y. Spasticity

----------

1. encephalo = brain and "itis" is infection, inflammation SO this answer for #1. (L)
2. muscle weakness -the medical term is paresis.
3. People who have spasticity have contracted muscles that do not allow joints to bend and can not relax their muscles (Y #2)
4. Seizures are due to abnormal, uncontrolled neural firings at random in the brain that cause contractions (M) Epilepsy is the medical term for seizure
5 Polio is a viral disease that causes paralysis (W)
6. Ataxia ("a" means without, look up the root for taxia)
7.cerebral palsy--look up the effects of this disease.
8. Mental deterioration--what do old people get where they forget things? They get dementia (K)

Looking up the definition of the words would have helped you do this, as does knowing medical suffix & prefixes.  (+ info)

got more immunisation?

my son got immunisation(DT, MMR,Polio) in the year 2004. I think he got more immunisation becouse he had got 3 times booster. since that immunisation, his arm(near shoulder) has several tumours. Does it have relations between more immunisation and tumours. what is result if getting more Diphtheria/Tetanus,Measles/mumps/Rubella,Poliomyelitis oral.
----------

There's no relation between any of immunization you recall and tumours on your son. Body will absorb immunization liquid in your son lipid / sub cutaneous layer within 24 hours.

Well, BCG left scar, but not tumour.

You said your son had several tumours, i think it probably lipome. See your son physician to find out exact cause of those tumours. If it is lipome, your doctor might want to remove them.

Bless you.  (+ info)

could it be either dislocated or broken ?

My mom has poliomyelitis, and it never hurt for her to walk even thou, one of her legs and foot is shorter and different than the other one but for the past week, she's been in unbearable pain when she walks almost causing her not to walk ...

Don't you thing that if her foot was dislocated or broken, she wouldn't be able to put it down and walk on it, and she would be aching even if she was seating down doing nothing with that foot or walking ???

Maybe she pulled a muscle ??
Is there such thing as a cure for a pulled muscle ?

Please help! thanks.
well if she goes to the doctor to take x.rays they wont know whats wrong with her foot, because if is deformed already from the polio, so they wont be able to tell whats wrong.
