What area of the back would you suffer with pain in the case of an ectopic pregnancy?

My period arrived 6 days late and when it did, I had a normal flow for the first day only and then brown spotting for a week after. I have now suffered from menstrual-like cramps for 3 weeks and woke up today with bad back pain that hurts on my right side, roughly waist height. I have had urine and blood tests which came back negative. In the case of an ectopic pregnancy, would my back pain be lower? Thank you for any help you can offer!

in an ectopic you would still test positive. you're not pregnant.  (+ info)

How long is it before an ectopic pregnancy hardens?

I am 8 weeks and 3 day pregnant with a ectopic pregnancy and the doctors are telling me to wait and see. They told me about the injection I could have to help absorb it but was wondering how long I have left till my baby hardens and I wont be able to have the injection?
----------

I don't know what you mean by "hardens". I had an ectopic pregnancy in January and I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. They diagnosed my ectopic when I was 6.5 weeks pregnant and tried twice to give me the Methotrexate injections to end the pregnancy, but this didn't work for me because I was already too far along. Usually, if there is already a heartbeat, there is less of a chance for the drug to work and this was the case with mine. I ended up having to have laparoscopic surgery anyway to remove the fetus (they were able to save my tube) and I was 8 weeks pregnant by then and my tube was starting to rupture. So if you're actually that far along too, chances are the injection won't work for you either. I'm not sure what your doctors would be waiting for at this point. As the baby grows, you have a higher and higher risk of rupturing the fallopian tube, causing internal bleeding and possibly damage to your tube that could not be repaired. An ectopic pregnancy is very dangerous to the mother, even fatal if left untreated. Make sure they are following up with you soon and often or go get a second opinion if you don't feel like you're being treated appropriately. If your pain worsens or you start to feel lightheaded or have shoulder pain (due to the internal bleeding) call your doctor and/or go to the hospital ASAP. It is nothing to mess around with. I can't tell you how many ectopic stories I've heard where the woman says, "If I'd just waited one more hour to go to the ER, the doctor says I would probably not have made it." Don't let this happen to you. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. Good luck to you and I hope your recovery goes smoothly.  (+ info)

Is it possible to have an ectopic pregnancy with twins where one makes it through the tube and the other dont?

I know sometimes your body will loose 2 eggs to travel through the fallopian tubes. Is it possible for both eggs to be fertilized, 1 to make it through but the other doesn't? Is it possible to have the surgery to remove the ectopic pregnancy yet the twin that made it through the tubes to survive?
----------

the one in the tube will not survive because the tube will burst - do u mean the other one in the uterus ? - yes that can happen 1 in tube 1 in uterus at the same time
woman have had babies were they burst through the tube and developed in other areas of the adominal cavity - but that is highly unusual - and very rare
usually they will remove the one in the tube because of the risk of bleeeding when the tube bursts it can kill ya

good luck  (+ info)

How many weeks were you, when you found out you had an ectopic pregnancy?

I had an ectopic pregnancy last year in February, I had to have one of tubes removed. I finally got a positive test, im about 6 weeks pregnant. Im just hoping its not another ectopic!!! Would I be feeling any pains by now???? I dont remember how far along I was when I had the surgery.
----------

I experienced an ectopic February 2008 also-here's my experience:

On Feb 12th (at 5 weeks) I started with mild cramps and brown spotting. It went away for 2 days. On Feb 14th I had menstrual-style cramps and moderate red bleeding. They drew blood and my HcG was really low (81) and I was told that I was miscarrying. They monitored my HcG and it continued to rise, but not double. My bleeding stopped after about 4 days. I was hopeful that maybe they were wrong and I wasn't miscarrying.

On Feb 21, they did an sonogram and saw nothing in my uterus or tubes.

A few days later (Feb 24) the bleeding started again. The emergency room told me I was at the end of a miscarriage. My HcG was at 650.After a sonogram, they said my uterus was empty, not knowing much I went home. They missed something big.

Within 2 days of my first ER visit (Feb 26) I went to the ER again with SEVERE cramping on my left side. UNBEARABLE pain!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't emphasize that enough-it was the worst paine ever. My pregnancy always felt normal, then bleeding/cramping, then the stabbing pain. All in progression. My HcG was at 857 the day it ruptured. They did a sonogram and I was rushed into emergency surgery for an ectopic rupture.

If the HcG is rising and doubling every 2-3 days, that is a GREAT sign!

If it is dropping, you are most likely miscarrying.

If it is rising, but NOT doubling every 2-3 days, you most likely are ectopic.

HOPEFULLY everything is fine. Red blood will be a bad sign.

I was about 6 1/2 weeks when mine was discovered...I think the range is 5-8 weeks.

I wish you luck.  (+ info)

how soon after a ectopic pregnancy does your normal cycle return?

I had a miscarriage back in Sept then got pregnant again in May but soon discovered it was a ectopic pregnancy and had an operation to remove it. I got a period 6 July and my normal cycle would be 29 days but its been 32 now and nothing and i don't want to get my hopes up yet on being pregnant...but could i?
----------

Well as soon as your HCG levels are down to under like 5 you should have a normal cycle. Its only been a few days give it a couple more it AF doesnt come take a test. But FYI stress/emotions can cause your AF to be late or not come on time.

Good luck  (+ info)

when would pain start if you have an ectopic pregnancy?

I am 5 weeks pregnant and have had this slight dull pain on my right side for about a week now it comes and goes, Its by my right ovary, Im afraid it could be an ectopic pregnancy.
----------

If the pain comes with bleeding, you need to go to the doctor right away. Extreme pain/discomfort and bleeding are the two main signs of a ectopic. If detected before 6-7 weeks it is the best for you. Goodluck and I hope that pain is nothing that serious!  (+ info)

What are the signs & symptoms of a tubal/ectopic pregnancy?

What are the signs & symptoms of a tubal/ectopic pregnancy? Also do you still get your period during an ectopic pregnancy?
----------

In the very early stages, tubal pregnancy symptoms are just like those of a healthy pregnancy. A little morning sickness, some breast tenderness, being tired, and missed periods.

After 5 weeks, more specific symptoms include cramping or pain in the abdomen, spotting, and dizziness or light-headedness.

You would miss your periods if it is a tubal pregnancy.

There are tests which your doctor can run. They include a pelvic exam, both external and internal...trying to find unusual qualities and will check to see if your uterus looks to be the proper size for the baby’s length of gestation.

Hope that helps  (+ info)

Any of you ladies had an ectopic pregnancy, lost a fallopian tube, and been able to have another child?

Please tell me what happened. I lost a fallopian tube due to an ectopic pregnancy, and then got pregnant again only to have a miscarriage. I'm going through treatment right now, ultrasounds, labs works etc. Stressed and scared. I want to know some success stories after such a nightmare. Is this all worth it?
----------

Hello,

My daughter is a success story. When I was young and having my children I had several miscarriages. I did manage to carry two boys to full term. One in 1979 and the other in 1985.

After I had my son in 1985 I became pregnant again but began experiencing severe pain in my right side. I had to be rushed to the hospital and they did an ultra sound and said that I had an ectopic pregnancy. (I always called it a tubal pregnancy). I had to have emergency surgery to remove my tube and of course, the baby.

I never conceived again until 1988 (and I always got pregnant very easily, I just couldn't carry them). But I prayed and I prayed for three years, because I wanted a little girl so bad. And in 1988 I became pregnant again, I had no problems and my little girl was born on Dec. 2. She will be 19 this year and I thank God every day for her. And after I had her, I never became pregnant again even though I've never took any kind of birth control.

So don't give up hope because as long as you have one tube, you can have a baby. Good luck.  (+ info)
