What makes the prenatal vitimin make you sick, would i get sick taking a prenatal vitimin if i wasn't pregnant?

Is it being pregnant that makes the prenatal vitamins make you sick, or is it just the vitimin itself that makes you sick and it would make you sick anyway even if you weren't pregnant? Thanks in advance.
----------

prenatal vitamins contain more vitamins than your body needs, so those excess vitamins can make you sick because the excess vitamins usually go to the placenta where the embryo/fetus receives the extra nourishment. most of the excess stuff would be excreted by you, but many minerals and the excess fat soluble vitamins like iron, calcium, magnesium and A, D, and K can actually prove to be toxic so I would not use them for that purpose as you have described.  (+ info)

Can i start taking Prenatal multi vitamins and a dha omega 3 prenatal supplement while i am trying to?

conceive? I know its good to start prenatal but i wasn't sure about the dha omega 3
----------

Sure, DHA & omega fatty acids are good for you anytime. Womens-one-a-day vitamins just came out with prenatal vitamins.I just bought a box at Rite aid yesterday for $16, which includes 30 prenatal pills & 30 DHA supplements. I like them better than the ones my dr. gave me a Rx for. But they have plenty of prenatal vitamins over the counter. I would just start taking them, its never too early.  (+ info)

Will Medicaid pay for prenatal and birth if baby is given up for adoption?

My sister is currently pregnant and her prenatal care is being covered by Medicaid (in Arkansas). My husband and I are planning to adopt her baby right at birth. Will Medicaid still cover the prenatal care and birth expenses, or will we be expected to reimburse these costs?
----------

Absolutely. Medicaid can't deny her coverage because she plans on placing the baby for adoption. In fact, you don't even need to tell the hospital if you didn't want to although its much easier for you to have access to the baby.

Good luck!!  (+ info)

Is it okay to start prenatal vitamins during the 10 week of pregnancy?

I have been pregnant for about 10 weeks and I have been unable to start prenatal care because of insurance issues. I want may baby to be healthy as possible. So if I start prenatal care during the 10 weeks, will my baby still be healthy during the rest of the pregnancy?

What kind of prenatal vitamins should I buy and where can I find them?

I just found out I'm pregnant, about 6 weeks or so. I haven't seen the doctor and won't be able to for another week, so I am wondering if I should start taking prenatal vitamins on my own already.
Can I just get the vitamins from the grocery store, and is there a specific type I need to get?
Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.
----------

any brand of pre natal is great just get on them. try to take them in the evening to cut down on any possible nausea, and at the same time to keep you regular ( you may not think that's important now but you will later)
also get yourself a bottle of folic acid anything around 200 mg or so for your energy and babies brain the earlier the better! Shouldn't cost more than around 14 for the prenatal and 2-4 for the folic acid
ps they have a chewable version if you try the regular and they do not work ask your doc !  (+ info)

How much faster to Prenatal vitamins make your hair grow?

My hair used to cover my whole back and used to be really thick until i started straightening it. It's still long but not as long as before and it's quite thin now. How much faster will prenatal vitamins make my hair grow?
----------

you probably should not start to take prenatals unless your doctor recommends that you do. may i suggest a vitamin that is made just for your hair and nails.
here is a link to one of the many brands that make them:

also, prenatals don't necessarily make your hair or nails grow. when a woman is pregnant she experiences extreme hormone changes, some of these changes involve accelerated hair growth . for instance i am pregnant with my third son, my first pregnancy, i experienced no difference in my hair thickness(i was taking prenatals through pregnancy), with my second son, about half of my hair FELL OUT!! in CHUNKS! and i was taking prenatals the whole time. it was just my hormones and not due to whether or not i took prenatals. and with this pregnancy, i am not losing hair or growing hair any faster.

see what i mean?
good luck!  (+ info)

Should prenatal vitamins be taken even if the person is not intending on getting pregnant?

My girlfriend has started taking prenatal vitamins because she believes it's a good source of vitamins that would otherwise be absent in her system with a regular diet. However, we started wondering if the vitamins could possibly interfere with the hormones in her birth control pills and/or cause her to get pregnant... we are not planning on having kids any time soon so we want to know if the prenatal vitamins could cause her to get pregnant. Thank you in advance for your help.
----------

No, it will not effect her hormones or cause her to get pregnant.
They don't contain any female hormones or anything like that, so really you could take them too.
They are just like an amped up version of multi-vitamins.  (+ info)

How soon should your first prenatal visit be after you take a home pregnancy test?

I just took a home pregnancy test and it was positive! So I called to schedule an appointment with a OBGYN in my area and the first available appointment isn't until the beginning of August. So its a little over six weeks away. Is that to long or is that a normal time range for your first prenatal visit?
----------

I didn't go in until 13 weeks. There's nothing that they do that's super necessary in the first trimester.

You can get prenatal vitamins at Walmart. You dont' need to get them from the OB.  (+ info)

Whats the difference in taking prenatal vitamins and a regular multivitamin?

Am taking a multivitamin for my hair is prenatal vitamins better? I had an iron deficiency and i heard prenatals had higher iron. My hair has thinned out alot.
----------

I was taking prenatal vitamins for a while to help with my hair braking off, i dont cut or trim my hair anymore(religious reasons) but its much higher in Iron and Floic acid, its not bad to take them some women just take them when they are on ther period, anyways i had to stop taking them because to much iron makes me constipated (lol) but its true! good luck!  (+ info)
