why is it harder to treat protozoan and fungal infections compared to bacterial infections?

why is it harder to treat protozoan and fungal infections compared to bacterial infections?
----------

Bacteria are "prokaryotes"
While animals(inc humans), fungi and protozoa are all "eukaryotes"
There are major differences in the way these two type of cells are organised and operated. These means that some chemicals which are highly toxic to bacterial "prokaryotic" cells have little or no toxic effect on Human "eukaryotic" cells .Antibiotic can be thought of as selective poisons which only harm bacteria .Fungal and protozoan cell are much more similar to human cells and so there are fewer chemicals which are toxic to them without being toxic to the host's cells as well  (+ info)

Why does my little girl keep getting bladder infections?

She has already been to the doctor for this and is on antibiotics now. But this has happened before and will probably happen again. The doctor thinks that the bladder infection is why she can't get rid of a yeast infection (we've been giving her medicine for that as well). I'm so frustrated. She doesn't drink soda, and only a little juice in the morning. She eats animal crackers sometimes, but not alot of other junk. I know she doesn't drink enough water, but she drinks more water now than she ever has. So what gives?
----------

My cousin had that. She is ten years old.She started wetting the bed and pieing on her self last year. But they did not know what was wrong. Her mom thought she was lazy. So her grandma said take her to the Doctor. So they did. They ask if she ever got touched? she did. The doctor said that may be it. So they X-Rayed her. Something was wrong with her bladder. The doctor said it was both , ( Raped , bad bladder ). So the doctor started doing something to her. Well now this year their X-Raying it.  (+ info)

Is it true that HIV originated from somebody who had sex with an animal?

My friend told me that. They said therefore you can only catch it if somebody who has it passes it on to you, and if you have unprotected sex with a lot of people- you wont catch anything if everybody you've slept with is not infected. I always thought unprotected sex with lots of people leads to infections- regardless of whether people are already infected or not. Who is right?
----------

HIV is deadly virus, no matter where it came from. And you shouldnt be having unprotected sex with anybody. It's too complicated, so don't take the risk on whether somebody is clean or not clean.

But I heard that herpes was the STD that orininated from beastiality (sex with animals)  (+ info)
