Could I have had Central Precocious Puberty?

I was 8 years old when I got my period. Then I had to get shots every month. I'm 16 now and I still don't know why I had to get those shots. I just feel like I'm not growing even though I got my period again when I was in 6th grade. Correction. My boobs aren't growing and I haven't gotten any taller. What's wrong with my body?

If someone has precocious puberty will their hair grow faster?

Because i Had precocious Puberty :(
----------

Uh, no.
You can hit puberty at 11, or at 16. When you hit puberty doesn't reflect on how your body changes, it will change the same regardless of when it occurs.

So can you tell us why you have an obsession with puberty? Seeing as the majority of your questions are the same as this, it would be great if you explained.  (+ info)

Would you call precocious puberty a disease?

Is it called a disease or phase or diagnostic (diagnosed with it)
----------

PYTSandra01 - NO, precocious puberty is a "condition" not a disease. A condition is "a state of health." Precocious puberty is usually an earlier than usual development of body changes into a more adult "condition." A disease is an impairment of the normal state of the body or one of its parts that modifies the performance of the vital functions, is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptoms, and is a response to environmental factors (as malnutrition, industrial hazards, or climate), to specific infective agents (as worms, bacteria, or viruses), to inherent defects of the organism (as genetic anomalies), or to combinations of these factors  (+ info)

Which would be the symptoms of untreated precocious puberty in a grown adult?

Short stature.

Could be other symptoms depending on the etiology behind the precocious puberty.  (+ info)

Precocious Puberty in Infants. I am seeking a support network to link too on this condition.?

My grandaughter is 7 months old and has been diagnosed with precocious puberty at age 4 months. We are only in the beginning of our journey a journey that started in Australia and has ended with my children moving home to NZ for better family supports. Our darling girl does not understand (thankfully) that her monthly 'jabs' are just a beginning to a lifetime of medication. What can we as family do that is proactive to support not only the mental wellbeing and growth of our children but also the acceptance (as she gets older) of her unique situation and her pending treatments. What have other families found that are helpful and what supports are out there just to link too and scream (or cry) both some times to others that have walked in your pathway. Please help I ache for my darling mokopuna (grandaughter) and fear for her adjustments that may have to take place as she gets older.I know this is not life threatning but it feels like it when I cannot take her pain and discomfort from her.
----------

I looked all over the net for a support group. I didn't know what your granddaughter's diagnosis was, so I couldn't look for a specific disease. Precocious puberty in infants is so rare I could hardly find anything.

I finally decided in came under the definition of "central precocious puberty," since most cases of precocious puberty do not involve infants.

I found one group that has networking, information, newsletters, etc., about central precocious puberty. Follow the link. You need to register to get into their pages, and I didn't register so I can't tell you what is in them. It is part of a larger organization (the Magic Foundation) that provides information and support for families with children with a number of different conditions.

You are doing the right thing by looking for others to talk to. And don't be hopeless about it; medicine moves really fast these days.

All my best to you and your darling mokopuna.  (+ info)

My daughter has precocious puberty. How common is this?

My 8 yr old daughter has started to grow pubic hair; I yhought this wasn't supposed to happen till she's 11 or so. Are there many other girls who started to develope this early? How common is this? Should I take her to a gynocologist or teach her to start shaving?
----------

Yes. A doctor definatly. Shaving is her choice.
I recently heard of a study as to why puberty is starting earlier in children. The fat content in their bodies trigger it. With our
high fat fast foods it is triggering early puberty. Might be something to it. A neighbor of mine's daughter started puberty at 8 looked 20 when she was 13. It happens.  (+ info)

Can you still get pregnant if you had precocious puberty?

Yup, puberty is puberty. Just have your kids young (like early 20s) since precocious puberty is associated with early menopause.  (+ info)

My 6 yr old daughter has precocious puberty beacuse of MAS. Any similar experiences?

My daughter has been taking Arimidex for almost 2 years, but this is the 3rd time she has had her menstrual cycle.... Is anybody taking different medication with any luck?
----------

I'm sorry, but as others have suggested there are probably few out there on Yahoo! Answers who have children with this quite rare disorder. However, I did find this website:

http://www.magicfoundation.org/www/docs/109/mccune_albright_syndrome.html

and if you click on "Networking" you may be able to get in touch with other parents. Also, Yahoo! Health has an MAS support group here:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/mccune-albright_syndrome/

I hope this helps you find someone with similar experiences to your own as I have some rare (though not quite as rare) health problems and know how lonely it can be.  (+ info)
