What does it mean when you experience occasional dull spasms coming from your rectal area?

I am 20 year old male and sometimes when i get the urge of getting a bowel movement, I sometimes get a sort of spasm like sensation coming from my rectal area...its not exactly a pain, but its a sensation that feels like its sucking in and like a needle prick like at the same time from within...the spasm lasts only like 3 seconds and once i defecate everything is fine.. Is this cause of concern or Is this just normal nerve response from the urge to defecate ?
----------

It could simply be the normal muscle actions of the intestines, (peristalsis,) or something more serious, as proctitis. Proctitis is inflammation of the lining of the rectum, called rectal mucosa. It can be a condition secondary to, an STD or some auto immune diseases, such as, Crohn disease. It can also occur after a course of antibiotics, which can produce a side effect similar to, irritable bowel syndrome. If you continue to have this on a regular basis I would see a doctor for diagnosis.  (+ info)

Can ear infection cause ear thermometers to show higher temperature compared to the rectal temperature?

My kid has a ear infection, when using the Ear thermometer to scan her fever, it shows very high temperature. When doing a rectal scan - the fever is lower? Is the ear infection causing the ear to be hotter than the body temperature? My Ear thermometer is very accurate and I have not yet had any issues with it. Any suggestions on what is causing this? and also should i stop checking her temperature in the ear.
----------

Yes, infection causes increased blood-flow, causing increased temperature;
this will result in an inaccurate temperature reading if the reading is taken from or around the infected area.

To avoid the need for rectal temperature taking: try a digital thermometer under the arm-pit until it beeps or an oral thermometer.

Good luck.  (+ info)

I sometimes feel as though something is crawling around inside my rectal area. What is this?

I sometimes feel as though something is crawling around inside my rectal area. What is this? On a daily basis it constantly feel like Im tightening my rectal muscles and I have to consciously try to release the tightening of that muscle and not do it. Then it feels so much better but as soon as stop concentrating on not doing I later realize I have been doing it again. I had colon polyps removed 6 years ago. Ima 29 year old female. I havent had anal bleeding since but I did alot during my pregnancy, mixed with mucous. Sometimes, I feel shooting pain in my anal area. I know I had been diagnosed with diverticulosis or something like that during the time the polyps were removed. But sometimes I can be very still and it feels like something wiggling aroundmy rectum and trying to come out, or trying to go back in. I also have tail bone pain that actually can be seen and felt in my lower back. Im a 29 yr old female. Why and What is going on?

35 weeks pregnant and feeling a lot of rectal and vaginal pressure, is that normal?

I'm 35 weeks, went into labor 2 already where they were able to stop it. I dilated to a two so far and they gave the baby steroid shots. Now a couple weeks later I'm feeling a lot of rectal and vaginal pressure, I feel as if I can't hardly walk, when I was sleeping last night it hurt like heck just to try and roll over. Is this normal?
----------

I'm in the same boat, last night I had horrible pelvic pain. I almost got up and timed it, but I was able to rotate a bit and it stopped. I've gone into labor once and also had the steroid shots at 32 weeks. Baby A was at the -2 station on Friday, and I'm guessing she's lower today. My tummy looks lower to me, but my husband doesn't think so. I'm on bedrest, so I've only been on my feet a few times today, so I don't now about the pelvic pain. We go back to get an ultrasound on Thurs., so we'll find out more then. I say all that to say I think it's normal!   (+ info)

What kind of laxative is better for cleaning out the system? Oral or Rectal?

What kind of laxative is better for cleaning out the system? Oral or Rectal?
I'm talking about the same brand from the same company...I'm comparing apples to apples.

Is either Oral or Rectal stronger then the other or are they EXACTLY the same? I believe that the Rectal ones will make you go to the bathroom within 30-45 mins while the oral ones can take up to 12 hours...

Besides the time difference, is there anything else I should know about?

Is either stronger?
----------

I haven't tried any rectal laxative, but I was told that it doesn't clean your intestines as much as oral laxative.  (+ info)

Is rectal bleeding only a symptom of problems with the bowel?

I have a suspected peptic ulcer. Could rectal bleeding have something to do with that? When the doctor did a rectal exam he didn't find anything wrong. But when I pass stools I find a little blood, even though I don't have any pain in the bowel area.
----------

If the blood is bright red then it is from the lower bowel. If it is black then it is from the upper bowel. Bright red blood could be anything from colon cancer to internal hemorrhoids. Sounds like its time to get a scope.  (+ info)

What is the basis of differing actions of antineoplastic agents on different tissue/neoplasms?

What is the basis for differing tissue- and neoplasm-specificites of antieoplastic chemotherapeutic agents? This doubt arose because considering what the pharmacokinetics of these drugs are it remains to be answered as to why a certain agent would act only in a particular tissue or neoplasm when the mechanisms they employ are so similar, e.g., various alkylating agents in spite having same action act of different tumors with differing degrees of effectiveness. Hope someone answers the question specifically. Useful links to free-text articles would also be highly appreciated. Bye. TC.

If you have thoughts on this subject, you ought to have the initiative to research it yourself.  (+ info)
