rectal prolapse?

If you have a lot of anal sex..are you more suseptable to having a rectal prolapse when your older??
----------

I dont think that anal sex, like any other sex activities, if performed with care, can lead to rectal prolapse eventually.

There are a number of conditions that are associated with rectal prolapse; cystic fibrosis, malnutrition and malabsorbtion conditions, constipation, trauma, pinworms and whipworm infection. For more read:

Rectal Prolapse?

What is a Rectal Prolapse? What are its symptoms? What are its causes?
----------

Here is the Wikipedia article on it. Good luck

Rectal prolapse normally describes a medical condition wherein the walls of the rectum protrude through the anus and hence become visible outside the body. There are three chief conditions which come under the title rectal prolapse:

Full-thickness rectal prolapse describes the entire rectum protruding through the anus
Mucosal prolapse describes only the rectal mucosa (not the entire wall) prolapsing
Internal intussusception wherein the rectum collapses but does not exit the rectum

[edit] Causes
It is caused by weakness of the pelvic floor muscles and descending of the pelvic floor organs (uterus) - this is why the condition is most common among middle-aged to elderly women (women account for 85% of all reported conditions*). It is often accounted to chronic abdominal straining (notable in pregnancy, constipation) and anal sex.

The slang terms "pink sock" , or "Ass Tulip" is used to refer to when the rectum is pulled out during anal sex due to a variety of factors including insufficient lubrication and a much larger than average diameter penis.

Additionally, infection with whipworm can weaken these muscles and cause rectal prolapse in children.

[edit] Progression
The condition undergoes progression: beginning with prolapsation during bowel movements, through Valsalva movements (sneezing and so forth), then through daily activities such as walking until finally it may become chronic and ceases to retract.

[edit] Treatment
Pharmaceutically, the condition may only be treated secondarily (by treating deficate) so as to avoid further straining.

The alternative, of course, is surgery, it may be divided into two forms of procedure: abdominal surgery and perineal surgery.

Abdominal surgery - for younger patients, but is more dangerous
Anterior resection
Marlex rectopexy
Suture rectopexy
Resection rectopexy
Perineal surgery - often performed on older patients and is less dangerous
Anal encirclement
Delorme mucosal sleeve resection
Altemeier perineal rectosigmoidectomy
Hemorrhoidectomy
Children are treated with linear cauterization

[edit] Notes
Due to the elderly nature of sufferers, the condition is generally under-reported.  (+ info)

Should I be worried about a rectal prolapse at this age?

I'm 17.
Okay, in the mornings, I have normal formed stools, but the last stools always contain mucous.

I poo 1-2 times a day.

Lately, I keep having lots of anxiety, and at school, I have the fear of pooping in the stalls.

Should I be worried about a rectal prolapse?
----------

Rectal prolapse is something that very rarely happens at all and when it does it happens to old fogies like me. Your poo action is normal- chill and stop reading those online symptom checkers- lol!  (+ info)

Has anyone had a vaginal/rectal prolapse surgery?

My mother is having both done at the same time. She had a hysterectomy awhile ago and has had other major surgeries.

Also, will it be worse since she has had 5 other surgeries, maybe making recovering time harder?

Any information at all will be greatly appreciated!
----------

It really depends on her current health both physical and psychological. My best friend had this surgery done and she turned out fine. Yeah, there was pain but she recovered very nicely. It just really depends on the patient. I hope she does recover well and I'm sorry that you and your family have to go through all of this. Best of luck.  (+ info)

Has anyone ever had a baby that had rectal prolapse at 2 weeks old?

He's been straining to have bowel movements a lot but the BMs look normal... He's not constipated.
I guess what worries me is that his little butthole appears to be protruding whenever I see him have a BM (it happens a lot when I go to change his diaper).
----------

No, but if you're sure that's what's happening get him to the doctor asap!  (+ info)
