What is the survial rate with Sarcoma cancer?

I'm 34, doctors found a tumor in my uterus....removed it a week ago...then told me there were some odd cells that were on the tumor...they called it Sarcoma. What is going to happen next? what can I do? what are the treatments?is it to late for me?
----------

There are about 40 different types of sarcoma (cancer of the connective tissue such as blood vessels, muscles, bones, cartilage) so the first thing you need to do is ask the specific name of the sarcoma. You than need to ask what the stage and grade of the tumor as that will determine treatment. And, your next best thing to do is to go to a sarcoma cancer center or at least insist on being treated by a sarcoma specialist. Sarcoma is a rare, rare disease and very few regular oncologists have treated it . . so many make the wrong assumptions about how it should be treated. Find a sarcoma specialist here:

And, no it is not too late for you. You need to find out as much information as possible and make some critical decisions regarding treatment. But sarcoma of the uterus can be treated, but first things first . . find out the name of the sarcoma and find a sarcoma specialist to help you fight this battle. Good luck.  (+ info)

When exercising my heart rate sometimes gets up to 180, is that too high?

Ok my resting heart rate is 72 and as soon as I take my first steps on the tread mill my heart will go to 115 and all the way to 180. I am 32 and overweight. I would like to know if this sounds healthy for my heart.
----------

Your target heart rate should be 130-145. When it exceeds this rate you are not burning fat but burning muscle. This can lead to counter-productivity in your work out. You need to have a plan like jog for 30 minutes 3x a week this week at 4.0 speed so my heart rate is 130-145. Next week I will increase the speed to 4.1 then the following week 4.2. The goal being running 3miles (or 5k) in under 30minutes.  (+ info)

What should I do? My dog was just diagnosed with a malignant spindle cell sarcoma.?

My 5 1/2 year old lab was just diagnosed with a medium-highly malignant tumor. The diagnosing vet has refferred us to an Oncologist and already taken a biopsy, but I don't know what else to do. Has anyone ever had this happen before with a malignant sarcoma? What did you do and how did you handle it? What should my next step be?

Are there any alternative treatments to Sarcoma Cancer ( in the lung) than chemo therapy?

A family member of mine has this type of cancer. She has had it before. About 3 months ago she had surgery and now it's back. This time it's more aggressive than before. The Doctor says that chemo would only hurt her. Please, I need to know alternative treatments.
----------

Some sarcomas are very resistant to chemotherapy/radiation, so chances are that her doctor is telling her the truth - as awful as it is. And recurrence after only 3 months is bad. There are lots of alternative practitioners who claim they can do just about anything. You have to be very critical when analyzing their claims - even if their testimonials sound very persuasive. Instead of trying out various dubious alternative treatments you might find it more fruitful to help her enjoy the time as best as possible.  (+ info)

Is 180 pounds overwieght for a 14 year old?

My son is 14 years old, 5 9" and 180-185 pounds. Is that over wieght? If so, what kind of tips can you give him to lose some wieght?
----------

Sorry those two people above me are idiots. Twenty pounds of excess weight in your intestines. Right. Well your sons weight really depends on his body type. If he has a heavier bone structure then 180 pounds might a perfect weight. If he's got a smaller bone structure then 180 pounds sounds a bit heavy. That being said if he's in the middle of a growth spurt then it could work himself out. You can grow up to four inches in a year and that would make your son 6'1, and 180 pounds is perfectly reasonable. My advice is to go to your doctor where he can determine what, if anything, needs to be done and help your son maintain a healthy body weight. Also if your sons not active you might encourage him to take up sports like football, soccer of hockey. Overweight or not its never a bad idea to be active.  (+ info)

Where does Sarcoma cancer usually grow and progress?

And yes, I know that there are many types of sarcoma
----------

There are three different categories for cancer: carcinoma, adenocarcinoma and sarcoma. Carcinoma is cancer that arises from endodermal or ectodermal cells (basically, epithelial and endothelial cells). Some examples of carcinomas are lung cancer, skin cancer and stomach cancer. Adenocarcinomas arise from glands within epithelial tissues, like ductal carcinoma in the breast. Sarcoma can occur in any mesoderm tissues, such as the muscles, bones and blood. Some examples of sarcomas are leukemia and lymphoma.  (+ info)

Does anyone have any information on myeloid sarcoma?

My 6 year old nephew has suffered from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, he has now been diagnosed with Myeloid Sarcoma. Is this related to AML? My sister and her husband are in bits and I don't want to harrass them about it, just be there for them, so if anyone on here has any information on this condition it would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou
----------

Yes, it appears to be related to AML in previously treated patients and may indicate a relapse of the disease if he was in remission. There are many manifestations or reasons for the appearance of the tumor that would relate directly to your nephews individual case. But, yes, there is an association.

I have a bladder infection and blood pressure was 180 over 80 .Can my infection bring my blood pressure up ? ?

Do to an Antibiotic Pill I got dehydrated and it took me three weeks to get back on my feet .Now I am fighting a bladder infection do to the dehydration. My blood pressure was high 180 over 80 and my doctor wants me on blood pressure medicine .I wonder if its do to my Infection .
----------

It is unlikely that the bladder infection has significantly raised your BP. However it is important not to rush in to blood pressure medication unless you are sure of your diagnosis, as once started it tends to be continued lifelong.

The guidelines suggest watching blood pressure for anything up to 6 months or alternatively performing a 24 hour BP monitor to confirm the correctness of the diagnosis before initiating therapy.  (+ info)

How long does it take a 180 lb out of shape person to lose 50 lbs and be in shape to do martial arts?

I want to be able to start martial arts. But I am overweight and out of shape, but have been going to the gym regularly for the past month (5 to 6 times a week).

I am willing as much time as needed to get into shape as QUICKLY as possible.
----------

If you keep going to the gym as much as you are now (5 times a week is great) and eachtime you go to the gym workout for an hour and make sure your doing an activity that makes you sweat and puff (a cardio workout- like jogging or fast walking on the treadmill or the bike) for half an hour and then do strength training (lifting weights and sit-ups, push-ups etc)for the other half you will be well on your way to getting into shape. Of course the other half of losing weight is watching what you eat. Try to have smaller portians than you usually do at every meal and make sure your plate has more vegetables than anything else.. have a handful of protein at every meal (fish, chicken, lean meat) and only have 2-3 serves of carbs a day (have brown bread, rice, pasta or potatoes.. 1 serve is a slice of bread or a cup of rice/pasta). Also every time you feel thirsty have a cup of water, dont drink soda or even juice (juice is healthy but has lots of calories.. 1 glass a day is okay though). Its all a matter of saying to yourself 'I am a healthy person, i dont like junk food anymore'!
I have lost 30 pounds over the last year by doing this and am now 130 and feel fantastic!
If you do that, and educate yourself on what is good or bad to eat you will definately be fit and ready to martial arts in about 6 months. 2-3 pounds is a good amount to lose each week.. i know you want to lose it quickly, but its not easy and the weight wont just drop off, you have to work for it! Good luck, you really can do it, and in October this year you will be 130 pounds!  (+ info)

How can a person flex their shoulder to 180 in supine, but only to 30 while sitting?

It's a kinesiology question. We have to figure out what pathology a patient has that while they are sitting they can only flex their shoulder to 30 degrees, but while they are lying supine, they can fully flex their shoulder to 180 degrees. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with scapular limitations.
----------

maybe they are flexible  (+ info)
