What is the best way to make someone get help for their Paranoid Schizophrenia?

My friend acting very weird. Paranoid thoughts. I am certain that Ive witnessed several episodes in the last 3 days. Very worried he will hurt himself or someone else. Ive talked to mental health proffesionals and they recommend that they send a Crisis Assessment Team with police to his house because its necessary due to him having weapons.
Whats should I do? I dont want to lose his trust. No stupid answers please.
----------

If you do nothing, then it will simply be a matter of time before your friend begins distrusting you too for no good reason. His paranoid and delusional thinking dictates his behavior and it is keeping him from getting the help he needs. That's why you, as a good friend, are entitled and obligated to do what is best for him during a period of diminished mental capacity.

If you focus on whether you may lose the trust of a person gripped by mental illness, then you will have spun this episode into something about you rather than about your friend's urgent medical needs. That would be selfish and quite possibly fatal for you, your friend and/or other innocent people. You need to do the right thing and follow the recommendation of the Crisis Assessment Team as soon as possible.  (+ info)

What are the symptoms of paranoid Schizophrenia?

I really think i have it. Im constantly paranoid about everything! & im just crazyy! Please help me!!
----------

Schizophrenia is not the only disorder that will give you anxiety & paranoia. For instance, I have PTSD (among other mental disorders) and I get serious attacks from anxiety & paranoia. Off the hook ones! Sometimes I think I hear things or see things and I freak out and it throws me into one. Example. I have a dog, and I have to take him out back where it is COMPLETELY pitch dark, now mind you I have done this a million trillion times and not have many issues outside of checking my surroundings constantly and listening & watching every single friggin' sound. Sometimes I think I can hear the ants scatter about the ground, erm anyhow...The other night I went out as usual with him and I had a full blown freak out panic attack. Heart felt like it was going to either jump right out of my chest or give me a heart attack. Short of breathe and just could not calm myself. I just have to wait them out when they happen. But this also poses the question, how come I can take my dog (140lbs worth I might add) outside and have no real serious issues but then sometimes I do? Same thing how come I HAVE to look behind doors or shower curtain or even turn on lights just to "check"?
Anyhow, I would consult a psychiatrist and let them figure it out. If looking off the net for your symptoms you will have yourself dying or having disorders that you do not have. Let the Dr. figure it out. Good luck.
Oh yea usually with Schizophrenia the person things that they are ulmighty, such as a God or some kind of "higher being" too.  (+ info)

I want to know what is difference between these things? 1-paranoid schizophrenia?

I want to know what is difference between these things?

1-paranoid schizophrenia
2-Delusional disorder
3-Paranoid personality
4-suspicious

Is there anyway to cure Paranoid personality?
----------

To answer your last question first; this country (the USA) is a paranoid country. We suspect every other country of harboring ill will and arms against us (that is why we have spies) so If you can find a way to get rid of it you would be a blessing to our country. The Holy Bible is a manual of paranoid schizophrenia; it is no help. But for a more technical description of the symptoms and criteria defining the disorders you enumerated look them up in "DSM-IV TR" the manual used by psychiatrists in diagnosing the disorders or by simply typing the disorder into Yahoo! web search.

Good luck in your research, good mental health, peace and Love!  (+ info)

A family member has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. Is it possible she is just a compulsive liar?

A lot of what she says she is paranoid about and her delusions change from week to week and also depending on who she is speaking to. It has gotten quite serious where she has contemplated suicide, but she seems to forget which version of her story she tells which person, so it just makes me wonder if deep down it's just an attention seeking tactic (which is working) ?
----------

If she's been seen by a psychiatrist or a psychologist I would be willing to bet they have the right diagnosis. They usually administer certain diagnostic tests which have fail safes thrown in to weed out the people who are trying to get a certain diagnosis. Most doctors are trained enough and knowledgeable enough to be able to spot someone faking an illness when it happens. If you're really worried though get a second opinion.  (+ info)

Can paranoid schizophrenia lead to disorganized or catatonic schizophrenia?

I was wondering, could one type of schizophrenia left untreated lead to other types?
----------

Catatonic -In this case, the person is extremely withdrawn, negative and isolated, and has marked psychomotor disturbances.

Disorganized-In this case the person is verbally incoherent and may have moods and emotions that are not appropriate to the situation. Hallucinations are not usually present.

If you have been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and start to show symptoms of either catatonic, or disorganized schizophrenia you should speak with your doctor. I'm not sure wether it could lead to them or not, but the doctor could have miss-diagnosed you. Either way it does sound possible from doing brief research.

Good luck

What's the difference between schizophrenia and paranoid schizophrenia?

I was just wondering what's different about the symptoms...
----------

Schizophrenia- Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that makes it difficult to tell the difference between real and unreal experiences, to think logically, to have normal emotional responses, and to behave normally in social situations.

Paranoid Schizophrenia- Paranoid schizophrenia is one of several types of schizophrenia, a chronic mental illness in which reality is interpreted abnormally (psychosis). The classic features of paranoid schizophrenia are having beliefs that have no basis in reality (delusions) and hearing things that aren't real (auditory hallucinations).

With paranoid schizophrenia, your ability to think and function in daily life may be better than with other types of schizophrenia. You may not have as many problems with memory, concentration or dulled emotions. Still, paranoid schizophrenia is a serious, lifelong condition that can lead to many complications, including suicidal behavior. But with effective treatment, you can manage the symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia and work toward leading a happier, healthier life.  (+ info)

If someone is diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia will they lose their commercial drivers license?

Please answer this only if you know about commercial drivers license.
I am 27 now and have been living with this since I was 18. I think most people are talking about me, but I have ignored it all this time, and still do. I think there are some people that are out to get me. I have never been diagnosed by a Doctor. I fear if I do I will lose my commercial license, and that is my livelihood.

My boy has Paranoid Schizophrenia is there something I need to know?

My boyfriend and I want to marry, I love him and will never leave him. He is on medication and it controls his symptoms. He has a milder version of the disorder. I have Bipolar II, which is a milder version. I know our kids will most likely have a disorder since it is in both our families. Is there someone out there who loves someone romantically with this disorder who can share tips or cautions or anything that I may not know about triggers or anything?
For the people who think it is wrong to have kids with a disorder, I was born and have lived and loved and would never change a thing. My lover is the most beautiful person I know and whatever kids we have will be loved and will be given the tools to succeed because we will be prepared from experience to help them through any tough times. By the way mental disorders can attack any child in any family at any time regardless of genetics. So before you condemn others, ask yourself: where would I be without Van Gogh, or Silvia Plath, or Virginia Woolfe or Hunter S. Thompson or any of the other beautiful minds who bring us art, literature and poetry. You closed-minded bigot. Love everyone, even the bigots.

what kind of treatment is used to cure Paranoid Schizophrenia?

I think i may have it i have been looking it up on the internet , i hear and imagine things happening all time and all the time moody and think everyone is out to get me, is there any treatment for this?
----------

First of all, please don't self-diagnose yourself...especially with this terrible disease!
First of all, there is no CURE. Paranoid schizophrenia is only maintained via medication and psycho therapy. It is a lifelong illness marked by delusions and fantasy, terrible hallucinations and fear.
If you are moody and you think that everyone is out to get you, it could be simple depression. Please get to your family doctor and write down all your symptoms and discuss them with him. IF you have simple depression, short term medication could give you the relief you need.
I wish you all the best.  (+ info)
