I am 28 weeks pregnant and Sciatic is driving me up a wall How many others out there had sciatic with pregnany?

Leave is not an issue with me, I am temping at my job so I can leave whenever, but how long could all of you out there with sciatic work until?
----------

I've had sciatica with all 5 of my pregnancies. During my 4th I discovered the joy of chiropractic. The difference was amazing. I still have sciatica, but I can function quite well. I have just a bit of discomfort here and there, not the constant pain and discomfort I had the first 3 times. I see my chiropractor every Monday. He has a special table where the belly drops away and days that I can't lay down, he has a tool that he can use while I'm in the sitting position. You could also try using an ice pack on the side that's bothering you. Try 20 minutes on, 40 minutes off with the ice. That's another thing that has helped. You should try to get a flexible ice pack so it can form to your lower back.

I hope you can find a way to feel better....I feel your pain!  (+ info)

What is the root cause of itchy sensation due to neuropathy?

I have tingling, electric-like needle pin puncture and itchy sensations in my body. I thought this was an allergy but I doubt that it is related to neuropathy. Please help me to recognized the difference between allergy and neuropathy. I have history of allergy and also neuropathy. I am confused.
Can a neuropahtic pain have mild symptoms of itchy sensation similar to allergy?
----------

neuropathy will usually have a more pain-like tingling sensation, allergy is more itchy, no pain involved since there is no nerve involvement with an allergy.  (+ info)

What are some symptoms if sciatic nerve injuries?

For a couple years I've had a sharp pain in my lower back/ butt cheek. It has gotten to the point I cant do simple things like get out of bed and climb in and out of my car, even sneezing is painful. Went to ER 2years ago mistaking it for kidney stones, x ray found nothing. Does this sound like it could be a result of sciatic nerve damage?
----------

even sciatica should be diagnosed;; again, sciatica is a symptom, NOT a diagnosis;; IF it is sciatica, you need to find out what is causing it;; for now try a flexible cold pack on your low back for 15-20 minutes; & see if it helps, try for a few days;; if this does not help, try the cold pack on your hip;; sleep with pillows between your knees, or 2 pillows below the top leg if you sleep scissored;; sciatica really involves the LUMBAR region & you may get "partial radiating pains" (like just to your glut);; or you may get pain in your glut & thigh & not the low back,, some people state it skips & runs;; you are better off finding the cause than rushing with meds & shots to mask the symptoms;; but if I were you, I would get the back xrayed + the hip;; if nothing, then get the back MRI'd & start from there... good luck!!  (+ info)

What exactly is sciatic pain or sciatic nerves?

My husband has been saying for awhile, about a month, that his butt has been hurting him. Could it be this sciatic nerve pain or whatever it's called? What is it exactly?
----------

Sciatic pain, or sciatica as the condition is called, is a pain caused by compression of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve branches from the spine and is the main nerve down both of your legs, beginning in the small of your back, running through the bum, and all the way to the bottom of your foot.

My boyfriend had pretty bad sciatica for a while because of a slipped disc that was pressing on the nerve, causing pain in his butt and thigh. He had surgery to remove the slipped part, and now there's scar tissue pressing on the nerve and causing pain :( so a lot of times, sciatica is better treated with physical therapy or steroid injections - and a lot of times it goes away by itself.

To avoid further pain, your husband could use a heating pad or take hot showers, use OTC painkillers, practice good sitting posture, and avoid sitting on his wallet (which can actually be the cause of sciatic pain in some cases). However, if the pain hasn't gone away in three months, then he'd be best off going to see a doctor.  (+ info)

What is the best treatment for the pain of Neuropathy?

I have had neuropathy for at least 8 years and the pain appears to be getting more difficult to control. The pain is primarily in my feet and lower legs. I take Lyrica twice a day but have all of the side effects associated with this product. I need help desperately but don't know where to find it. My neurologist has ordered a neuropathy profile on me and has tried several different kinds of medicines, all of which have been totally innefective. Any ideas?

Meditation, self-hypnosis (mind control). This sounds wierd, but it works. It is an arduous process, but you can learn.

If you can find a quiet place to lay and close your eyes, do so. Clear your mind of all thoughts, and try to "see" in your minds eye the affected area. Think to yourself "there is no pain". Do this as often as necessary. It does work. It is much better than medicationg. Narcotic pain relievers are just too addictive. I am now trying to get off of them after a number of years of prescribed use. It is more painful to stop taking the pills than the original pain was. Now I am in misery if I do not take Suboxone - a medication used to assist in Opioid Addiction Therapy. It stops the withdrawl. But that has nothing to do with you, except to say PLEASE be careful if you are taking narcotic pain relievers.  (+ info)

What is the best way to help diabetic neuropathy, other than watching your blood sugar levels?

I have been a diabetic for 32 years, and I just have been told I have diabetic neuropathy in my legs. Does anyone know any good exercises, lotions etc that will help, besides some meds from the doctor?
----------

Diabetic neuropathy is not curable. Of course the primary med prescribed is neurontin. However, it is often thought that over the counter vitamin b-12 and vitamin e benefit the nerves. Wear good socks and shoes...check your feet often and keep them lotioned with any unscented lotion (just make sure alcohol is not in the first few ingredients listed as alcohol is a drying agent). It's also a great idea to see a podiatrist for any nail cutting. One small wound, cut or nik can cost you your foot as neuropathy consists of numbness and tingling of the foot and you could have a sore there but not feel it. As far as exercises that help...haven't heard much out there that benefits neuropathy..but exercise in general is a good idea to promote blood circulation as circulation is decreased in diabetics. Hope this has helped you somewhat. Best wishes.  (+ info)

What B vitamins are good to take to help relieve foot neuropathy?

Ive heard that B vitamins can help relieve foot neuropathy. Can someone tell me what kind to buy at the store? Thanks :)
----------

The B vitamins will only help if that is related to the cause of the neuropathy. If the neuropathy is due to diabetes, do not expect to see any difference.  (+ info)
