After having sex and becoming pregnant, how long before you start to feel morning sickness?

I had unpertected sex about a week ago, is that too soon to feel morning sickness?
----------

Some people never get any morning sickness. Better to take a test in a few weeks if you've missed your period.  (+ info)

How long after having unprotected sex is it safe to start taking an antibiotic?

I always see questions asking how long after taking an antibiotic can you have unprotected sex again. But what If I had unprotected sex last night and was just prescribed an antibiotic that said it may affect the effectiveness of birth control. When is it safe to start taking the antibiotic with no risk of pregnancy?
----------

If you were prescribed an antibiotic, you need to start taking it the day it was prescribed. You'll just have to push your luck regarding last night's activity (which you knew might cause a problem) but stop the sex until at least a week after medication is finished.

It seems impossible that anyone old enough to be sexually active is not mature enough to abstain during infections and antibiotic therapy.  (+ info)

What chromosome has been determined to carry the gene for Marfan syndrome?

The answer is probably on a "Human Chromosome Map".

I'm looking for more than just chromosome 15.

Thanks a lot!
----------

"Marfan syndrome has been linked to a defect in the FBN1 gene on chromosome 15,[6] which encodes a glycoprotein called fibrillin-1. Fibrillin is essential for the formation of the elastic fibers found in connective tissue, as it provides the scaffolding for tropoelastin.[3] Elastic fibers are found throughout the body but are particularly abundant in the aorta, ligaments and the ciliary zonules of the eye, consequently these areas are among the worst affected. Without the structural support provided by fibrillin many connective tissues are weakened, which can have severe consequences for support and stability."  (+ info)

What is the best safe sex protection besides condoms and birth control?

I need to know what works best to keep from getting pregnant when having sex. A condom will of course be used but birth control is out of the question. So what could you use to prevent pregnancy during sex while using a condom but needing a second type of protection?

Abstinence. 100% fool proof!  (+ info)

Can having sex the night before taking a Home Pregnancy Test mess with the results?

I am 2 and a half weeks late. And planning on taking a pregnancy test later on today. I had sex last night, can that be a factor for getting a false result?
----------

A pregnancy test screens your urine for a certain chemical that your body ONLY produces if you're pregnant. The presence of any sperm/ejaculate (which, there won't be any in your URINE anyways) is irrelevant, since the test is looking for that special hormone that your body makes during pregnancy. Nothing else going on in your body matters.  (+ info)

How long after I have sex is it safe to stop taking my birth control pill?

I last had sex Tues and I wanted to stop taking my pills for a week and get my period, but should I? Is it safe to stop taking my pills 5 days after I have sex to prevent pregnancy?
----------

Hiya,
Not sure why you'd want to stop taking your pill,
but sperm can stay alive inside you for up to three days. Five days is therefore safe.

The problem will be waiting for your new strip of pills to kick in, before you have sex again. There lies the real risk, different pills take different amounts of time to be fully safe.

Good luck! Mir (Nurse)  (+ info)

How long after sex till I get an accurate result on a home pregnancy test?

I had unprotected sex two weeks ago tonight (Sunday). I took plan B the next evening (Monday) and then started on a regular birth control pill the day after (Tuesday). I just want to make sure I'm not pregnant. I know you're generally supposed to wait till you miss your period, but I won't know if I'll miss it until two more weeks from now.

I don't HAVE to wait till I miss my period, do I? Can I take a test a few days from now and get an accurate result?
----------

How effective is sex when trying to start labor?

Has anyone found having sex a good way to get labor started?
----------

Sex is the most well-known trick to begin labor. Semen has natural prostaglandins—-a hormone involved in the start of labor. If you use this technique, don’t get up right away and elevate your hips to help the semen stay on the cervix. This will help to thin and dilate it.

However, in late pregnancy, many women are not in the mood for intercourse. Simple loving activities that are part of your normal foreplay can help, too. Female orgasm has been known to open the cervix up to two centimeters. You can also ask your partner to gently stimulate your nipples, or heat up a towel in the dryer for a minute or two and place it over your breasts. This prompts the release of oxytocin. Do not do this constantly, however. For some women, contractions started within 20 minutes of doing this. If a half hour or so goes by, stop and maybe try it again another day

Sex

AdvertisementSex as means of getting labor started is thought to work in three ways. Firstly, the movement may help to stimulate the uterus into action. Secondly, sex can trigger the release of oxytocin, the 'contraction' hormone. Thirdly, semen contains a high concentration of prostaglandins which help to ripen, or soften, the neck of the womb (cervix) ready for it to dilate when labor starts.

Is it safe?
Sex is safe as long as your waters have not broken. Once this has happened, making love may increase the risk of infection. You should also avoid sex if you have a low-lying placenta or have had vaginal bleeding. Men often feel uncomfortable making love to their partners with a baby so obviously in the way but the baby will not know what is happening and will not be harmed.

Does it work?
Not enough studies have been done but, if nothing else, it will take your mind off the waiting.

How do I try it?
At this stage in your pregnancy sex is easier said than done. Try spooning, with your partner entering from behind or use the bed as a prop: your bulge isn't an obstacle if you lie on your back at the side or foot of the bed with your knees bent, and your bottom and feet perched at the edge of the mattress. Your partner can either kneel or stand in front of you. Alternatively, giving your partner oral sex may work better. It is thought that prostaglandins are absorbed more efficiently through the gut than through the vagina. (Note: you may prefer to keep this piece of information to yourself.)

If you period was supposed to be last monday the 24th then if it said you were not pregnant today then I would say wait a couple more days then retake the test if AF does not arrive. If it still says negative and you still don't have your period call you physician. Good luck! Venessa.  (+ info)
