Could an electric shock have caused me to get heart palpitations for the following two years?

I'm 16 years old, and I often get heart palpitations and heart flutters. Could this be due to the fact that two years ago i received an electric shock from a 240 volt circuit and did not seek medical advice?

I know that exercise which gets your heart beating fast is good for your hearts health as it strengthens its muscles. But is this the same as having your heart beat fast from shock or from being frightened?
I'm no specialist but if it's working faster and harder then it shoul get stronger but shock won't last as long as good ol excersise  (+ info)

How can I eliminate the shock through my body when I jog?

This problem is recent. When I try to jog I get a shock through my bones when my feet hit the ground. I've tried jogging on softer surfaces but it doesn't help much. Do I have to spend a lot of money on jogging shoes? I'm 200lbs.
Ummmm maybe you don't want to start out with jogging as a form of exercise. Try cycling or swimming, it's much easier on the joints. Once you've lost a few pounds jogging will be less stressfull on your joints. Plus, you risk permanent damage to your joints if you keep running like this. I would recommend swimming or cycling.

Contrary to popular belief tampons do _not_ cause toxic shock syndrome.

TSS is caused by the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. It happens when this bacteria is introduced into a person's body where it may cause a blood infection. TSS has been associated with tampons because the insertion of tampons can allow this bacteria to be inserted into the body at the same time.

There are also cases of males getting TSS too! In these instances the disease is associated with wound dressings instead of tampons.  (+ info)

3 days ago, I left a tampon in for 15 hours. I feel fine (no fever or rashes) but I got this light brown discharge. This discharge just stopped today, but my private area smells terrible. I know toxic shock syndrome is rare, but how long would it take to affect me? and because of the terrible smell, I might have some kind of bacteria growth. What should i do about that?

Septic shock occurs due to either the bacteria producing a toxin that causes shock (such as staph toxic shock syndrome toxin 1) or a component called LPS on the cell wall of gram negative bacteria.

My father passed away on Sept. 21, 2007 from pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed with stage 4 on Aug. 8th. He lived only 6 weeks. I continue to look at his obituary and it is unbelievable to me that he is gone forever. It all happened so fast. I keep expecting him to walk through the door any minute. How long does it take for the realization that he is gone forever to set in? Or will it always be like a shock to me? I am missing him so much.

It will take a long time, as I am still missing my mother and its been over 2 years. Every time I am alone and just drift off in memory. Sometimes I can still hear her talking to me.
This site has helped me. I made a tribute to her that will last. Just putting all of it down relieved a little of the hurt.

I am in early pregnancy and have a very old cell phone. The battery sometimes falls out and gives me a slight electric shock. Can this do any harm to a fetus?

How is Toxic Shock exactly caused from tampon use?

I understand the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is related to tampon use, but I don't understand exactly what causes it. Is it caused when there is a dry tampon for nothing to absorb being in you for too long, or when a full tampon is not taken out in time?

I'm in a argument with my sister and cousin. My cousins says toxic shock is a result of the blood. My sister says it comes from the fibers in the tampon.Who's right?
It comes from Bacteria that start to develop in the blood if it doesn't leave the body like it's supposed to. Basically if you leave a tampon in for too long the blood and dead tissue sit there and start to develop bacteria. The bacteria causes the toxic schock syndrom.  (+ info)
