can numbness of toes be initial effect of spinal stenosis?

my toes were numb along with burning or numbness in my legs when I was in boot camp. The medical diagnosis then was that my boots were too small. I have a diagnosis of spinal stenosis now, and I want to know if the initial numbness was initially spinal stenosis back then.

how serious is spinal stenosis with degenerated disc?

i am trying to avoid surgery because a lot of people say they are worse now than before because they have had surgery. and my pain is not that great because of medication.
----------

It is serious dude. The opening for your nerve is narrowed due to the degenerated disc. Pressure to the nerve can cause pain, numbness, tingling, weakness or paralysis. Try neck or back traction. How about steroid injections to your disc? Always get a second opinion. Do your research online. Be an informed patient.  (+ info)

I'm a 17yrs F w/lower back pain. Diagnois spinal stenosis. I've found no cases in teens. What could it be?

Spinal stenosis is ussually found in older males and its a find of form of osteoporosis. So i don't understand how i have it.
----------

try getting a second opinion. it could be a number of (less threatening) things...such as a herniated disc (which is what i was diagnosed with at 16 yrs).
best advice, go to several doctors...including family practice, and an orthopediac surgeon who can perform multiple exams...x-ray, mri and strength testing.  (+ info)

Has anyone ever been diagnosed with or know anything about lumbar spinal stenosis?

I had my low back x-rayed, the doc said I have narrowing discs, then she wanted me to get a MRI, so I did, I am still waiting on results but the MRI dude told me it looked like lumbar spinal stenosis. Does this require surgery? Thanks
----------

Spinal Stenosis is like arthritis of the spine. It is common in anyone over 30 or very active person. I have it, with herniated disc, and nerve damage (Radiclupathy), and I was going to get surgery done for the relief of the nerve damage, a Discetomy and a Laminectomy. When they do these, they can open the disc area, that the stenosis is better, but to my knowlege, surgery isn't needed unless very serious pain and other problems!  (+ info)
