what should you do if someone has Status asthmaticus and has an attack?

what is someone has an status asthmaticus and has an attack? what should you do? like is there something you could have on hand to help them before the ambulance gets there?
One of my friends has it, and her mom wants her to be prepared cause were going somewhere where theres a chance she might have an attack.
so what should she bring?
----------

If they have already tried their rescue inhaler or nebulizer, and they are truly in status asthmaticus, there isn't a whole lot you can do. They'll probably be most comfortable in the tripod position (feet on the floor and hunched forward), although if they're comfortable in a different position, let them stay that way. Make sure her mom has a list of her medications, medical history, and allergies (including if she's allergic to peanuts or soy products) on hand. Essentially just keep her comfortable until the ambulance arrives.  (+ info)

What is it like to have a status migraine episode?

I need to know what it's really like to go through a status migraine episode. I've read about medical definitions and medical descriptions, but it's not the same as personal experiences. Thanks everyone.
----------

Status Migrainosus is simply having a migraine that won't go away. So if you have migraines and they don't go away for more than 3 days and they are severe and debilitating, then that would be status migrainosus. Those types of headaches should not be treated with narcotics and is usually treated by a neurologist. IV DHE is the best medication to stop an attack but usually requires inpatient admission and treatment may last for 3 days.

I don't know if you have migraines, but they will have pounding or throbbing pain behind or around the eyes or just on the side of your head, sensitivity to light and sounds, nausea, vomiting, and be worse with movement to the point you can't go about doing your daily activities.  (+ info)

What foods are considered a status symbol in Asian countries, Europe or America?

Do you know any foods that are status symbols in Asian countries, European countries or in America?

The food that's considered a luxury depending on location.
----------

This is a hard one to answer. Generally, status symbol foods are ones that aren't available locally or are prohibitively expensive.

In the USA, some would say that status symbol foods would be pâté, caviar, single-malt scotch and expensive chocolates. Others would say that they are organic beef, free-range chickens, prosciutto, Kopi Luwak coffee and handcrafted cheeses.

Because seafood is so plentiful in Japan, beef would be a status item, as would be Scottish whisky or Jack Daniels.

In Germany, status foods would be alligator meat, Japanese shrimp, mangoes or even chocolate-covered grasshoppers.  (+ info)

How to Cope with Loss of Status at Work?

I have just been demoted at work from middle management to a secretarial position. I am having some problems dealing with the loss of status and also problems with dealing with other people at work. My former management colleagues are doing their best to avoid me and the other secretaries just find it really funny. It is making me a little depressed and I am dreading going to work today. Any ideas?
----------

Well, I'm just about to resign my management position at work because I want to be demoted. I can understand how you feel in relation to loss of status, but really that's just the pecking order within the hierarchy of work and is nothing to do with who you are as a person. Sometimes its difficult to separate your work self from your real self, especially when you're in management. Give it time and talk to yourself positively. You'll be interesting to the other secretaries because of your knowledge of management and besides, it'll be old news in a week or so.  (+ info)

Why is it important to determine the status of a fetus prenatally?

A 40 year old woman approximately 8 weeks pregnant is having her first prenatal check-up in your hospital. Why is it important to determine the status of a fetus prenatally? What maternal or family factors might raise your concern about the well-being of an unborn infant?
----------

There are many factors that must be considered here. The mothers age, health, sexual history, family history for diseases and disorders are all things that must be investigated. The main, outstanding factor in this situation is the mother's age. An older mother has a greater risk of conceiving a baby with Trisomy 21 or down syndrome, and some other neurological defects (spina bifida). Other procedures include screening for STD's and whether the mother is a carrier of specific genes that cause conditions like Cystic Fibrosis (if she or the father has a family history). There are also many questions that must be asked to determine the status of maternal health (obesity, hypertension, smoking, drinking, etc.) Finally, the first ultra sound (usually internal) is performed to examine the developing fetus and check for placenta abnormalities and such.
It is important to determine the status of a fetus prenatally because it greatly increases the chances of having a healthy pregnancy and delivery if any underlying conditions are ruled out or discovered. These measures also determine the viability and health of the pregnancy. If the fetus will not thrive, then the pregnancy can be terminated early enough to prevent maternal harm.
Hope this helps!  (+ info)

You must have many doctors reports and xrays, mris, etc. You must be able to show it is keeping you from employment and the drugs, shots, and surgeries you have had. You should use a service like Allsup to get it going, they do all the reports and doctor information for you.  (+ info)
