Is this a type of sensory processing disorder? Physical movement and visual memory?

Why do I use physical gestures for time and space during conversations? I have so far only found one person - since I've been looking - that does this like me. I have a hard time focusing especially with my eyes while I'm also talking or listening to others. I used to not be able to handle many social interactions due to lack of eye contact or be real good at physically challenging activities like crossing a log across a stream or walking across rocks in a creek... ok, still not good at that. I often feel like I'm not "grounded" enough and have to move just a little to keep myself focused. Here is my thing: left hand out for yesterday or before or if the person/conversation I'm thinking about happened when the person was to the right of me (same for any other direction), right hand out for tomorrow, hand up for this morning (or the roof), middle for just recently, down for something that was down at some point in my visual memory. I rely on the visual memory of something to bring the words to mind... but I don't consider myself to have a photographic memory because it's not always a clear picture, just general enough to find a word for it. It's like I'm always where the event was that I'm talking about, from that perspective. As you can imagine, with all this alternating between the scenery in my head and the real world and dealing with focusing on eye contact while talking to anyone for long periods of time is very tiring. Try adding loud music, flashing or bright lights, too much movement or people, and I'm out of there! I'm not sure this is just ADHD either. Help?
I don't avoid eye contact, it's just too distracting to me. It's not asperger's, but thanks :)

i heard aspergers can make you more sensitive to stuff like that, i think i might have it and i get sensitive to stuff too and it drives me nuts sometimes  (+ info)

Are there any solutions to movement disorders?

I have these certain mannerisms which are affecting my whole being. It makes me often unconcentrate in things which I am doing. Sometimes I tried myself for doing them and it actually felt good, and normal; but after a while, there it goes again. It sometimes hurts my head. I think my movement disorders are not serious but it's really tiring and I want to have a new life without them. Are there any more ways on how to prevent them?

nothing you can do yourself. need meds to control them.  (+ info)

Yes, this is a disorder in which involuntary spasm of the muscles surrounding the vagina that closes the vagina, which causes penetration to be difficult and painful, or even impossible. It usually occurs due to past sexual trauma or abuse or previous discomfort with intercourse.  (+ info)

Disorder???

For a few months now, I've been making myself burp when there was no need to. It usually happens when I'm bored, my stomach is empty or even if I just ate, I still force myself to burp for no reason.

It's like a bad habit or something.

I'm jsut wondering if this is a type of disorder?

I have no reason to burp but if I don't make my stomach rumble, I obssess about it until I give in. It's very annoying.
it's like a soft burp and it doesn't make any noise - my stomach flex like all burps make it do but it's regualr burping, I just do it when there isn't a need for it.
----------

As such there should not be any need to burp without having gas in stomach. You must undergo investigations to find the cause. It's very good sign that you yourself recognized the problem, it will not be difficult to cure. Just try to imagine someone, a friend or family member, doing this in your presence all the time. How you will feel about it. That will make you stop this habit, if there is no reason.
Good luck!  (+ info)

does anyone know any alternative health cures/treatment for periodic limb movement disorder?

I was just diagnosed and afraid to take the drug they recommended due to it influencing dopamine levels and potential for hallucinations and severe obsessions with gambling, sex, overeating, and shopping. there are lawsuits against the company for these life wrecking side effects.

I have been sleep deprived nearly 25 years and on bipap/cpap for 15 with little abatement of the many health effects. I am finanlly starting to get some of the errors made in treating sleep apnea corrected but it will be in vain if I can't get the PLMD under control. I think they said I did it 175 times in less than 6 hours and weach time disrupts your sleep.

I have not been able to find much alternatively since my diagnosis three days ago. I was considering dopamine raising herbs..anything else? )it is sometimes treated similarly to restless leg syndrome although it is a different thing..involuntary and under sleep unlike restless leg which is when awake and asleep. Dopamine also is related to
Parkinson, another involuntary movement disorder. I am so scared of the medical drugs but also hanging on by a thread from severe sleep deprivation for so long.

Restless legs syndrom and periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD)?

I think I have one or the other.
For the longest time I thought I had insomnia so I finally did some research and found RLS and PLMD. The symptoms matched up to me so well.
They included discomfort in the legs while falling asleep, moving my legs a lot, complaints of insomnia, and in servere cases depression and thoughts of suicide.
I was wondering if anyone had any cures, or advice on this. I wish I could sleep more and better.
I don't want to tell my mother about this because of the depression factor and I don't want to see a doctor.
My email is [email protected] for anyone that has a lot of information and is willing to have a back and fourth and conversation on this.
I really would enjoy the advice/help so please do not ignore my question!
Thanks so much, God bless! :]

You are not alone!! There are medications that can help, although the majority of them can cause more side effects that what you already have. I also have this and what works for me is Stretching before bed, esp calves and ham strings. Tylenol also helps. I feel your pain as I've had soooo many sleepless nights feelings utterly helpless. RLS tends to flare up when you are run down and very tired. Try to stay on a steady sleep schedule....ya I know, it's not easy....  (+ info)

What could this possibly be? Some kind of movement disorder?

For a little over five or six years now (since i was maybe 12 or 13) i have had what I guess I just would call muscle flexing kind of that started in my left shoulder and has since traveled to my whole left side and is staring on my right shoulder and hip. The best way to describe what happens is that I get a giant urge to contract the muscles and it makes me really anxious and i get this pent up feeling if i dont oblige. It gets worse throughout the day and with stress and if i am having a particurally bad day w/ it it hurts really badly but i cant stop. I obviously know that ya'all aren't a substitute for a real doctor and i actually ahve a dr. appt w a neurologist in july but i just wanted some input.

Is a large amount of blood from the bowels with a morning movement something to be greatly concerned about?

Patient is 42 with a very ordinary diet, no known blood disorders.
Took two cod liver oil softgels before bed.
----------

Hi sdekw,

I haven't really got enough information to make a positive decision on the cause of this.

However working on what you have said, it sounds as though the patient had been constipated. Even with the cod liver oil the stools could have been hard and difficult to pass.

This makes me think that it could be haemorrhoids. if there aren't ant vi sable then they could be internal. If they are internal, they gather around the inside of the anus making the opening smaller.

The large stool forcing it open plus the straining of trying to pass it would definitely have caused bleeding. Itching following a bowel action is also common.

Sorry i can't be more helpful, but if in any doubt see a doctor for a positive diagnosis.
