I have heard for many years that the tannin in strong tea can help to relieve sunburn. You just take a soft cloth and gently apply as much as you need or want.

I got a sunburn from fishing and it hurts! I need some remedies that will take away the sting. Thanks!

Soak in a tub with Aveeno oatmeal bathe. It works wonders for sunburn. Also, if you have aloe in the house try putting in the freeze for awhile and then put it on.  (+ info)

SUNBURN!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Well I was at tennis practice today from about 2:30pm to 4:15pm. And of course i wasn't wear any sunscreen, and I got sunburned (on my face mostly) but normally I don't because practice is later in the day. Its not the worst sunburn but i would like it to go away, because tomorrow there's a huge party. So does anyone have any at home treatments they would recommend

I know that you've probably heard the aloe vera thing A LOT...believe me...but it really does help if you keep reapplying it. If you store it in the fridge, it can give you more of a relief when you first put it on.

Mix a half-water, half-vinegar solution and apply it to the burn with a spray bottle or soaked cloth. This will sting a little bit at first, but it definitely pulls the burning sensation out of your sunburn.

Ice packs (in small amounts of time) and cold cloths or compresses will also help to minimize the length of time that you have redness and should help with the swelling.

Take lukewarm (room temperature) BATHS. Taking showers with too high of a water pressure could increase your pain. Taking a too-cold bath won't help, and will make you freezing. And a too-hot bath runs the risk of burning you even more, or irritating the burn that you already have.

Make sure that you drink PLENTY of water, in order to keep your body hydrated so you don't develop a fever. If you do develop a fever, take an acetaminophen or an ibuprofen to help get rid of the fever and to minimize inflammation and swelling.

If your sunburn is really bad and seems to be very painful, you may want to go see your doctor and get a prescriptive treatment.  (+ info)

SUNBURn!!!!?

i have a sunburn on my face....and it hurts....anyone know of helpfull ways to get rid of it or sooth the pain?
----------

I got bad sunburn last year when I went to the beach. But what you should do: take a tea bag and put it in a cup of water. Let it soak for a few minutes. Then take the tea bag and dab it on your sunburn. It'll temporarily stain your face darker so that the sunburn will look more like a tan. Also it's very sooting and it will stop the pain.  (+ info)

SuNBURN!!!?

ok so I got a sunburn on Saturday now it is just starting to peel - should I try to keep it from peeling with lotion - or should I encourage it by pulling off the bits that are peeling to get it done faster? Thanks
----------

Once a sunburn has occurred, nothing can get rid of it but time. However, there are many different methods to reduce pain. Stay out of the sun for awhile! The best thing to do is to re-moisturize your skin and keep it that way while the sunburn heals. The products that are on the market for chicken pox will work well for sunburn. These help by soothing the skin and adding moisture to it.

There’s no cream or lotion that will stop burnt skin from peeling off. This is part of the natural healing process.

-Resist the temptation and don’t pick at the skin. Allow the dead skin sheets to detach on their own.

-If you must, remove detached skin carefully and slowly. Don’t rip skin sheets off or you risk removing more skin than you intended.

-Apply antiseptic cream to the newly revealed skin to reduce the risk of infection.  (+ info)

How to treat a sunburn with home remedies?

I got a very bad sunburn today, and was wondering if anyone knew any "home" remedies I could try. I hardly ever sunburn, and its been a few years since I got one this bad.
----------

If the pain is unbearable, take a "hot" shower. Trust me this is a remedy that works. After applying hot water to the affected area, you will feel great and the pain will temporarily go away for a time.  (+ info)

How long does sunburn on your eyes stay?

I have pale skin, freckles, sensitive skin, and I easily get sunburn. I was outside with my sunglasses on, and a few hours later, my cheek and eyes started to swell up. My mom had shrimp earlier, and I am allergic. My family thought I had an allergic reaction, and they took me to the hospital. They didn't do much, but I took Benadryl and I still am. My sister mentioned that it may be sunburn, and my eyes are dry, and red, and it feels like sunburn. How long do you think it will last if I'm taking Benadryl?
----------

Benadryl doesn't help with sunburns! Sunburns are a skin condition solved with patience, rest and aloe vera. Benadryl is for allergies; I would go back to the hospital or check with a doctor to see what this could be; I don't think it's sunburn.  (+ info)
