Tooth loss?

So i am 12 years old and i have lost all of my baby teeth so an adult tooth of mine is very loose and i just noticed that when i look under my tooth (my tooth is that loose) there is another tooth under my loose adult tooth is this normal?
----------

You may be mistaken about your baby teeth. The tooth that is loose may be your baby tooth. There is a small possibility that you may have another adult tooth erupting but very unlikely. Go see your dentist where he/she will take an x-ray to determine if you have an extra tooth and your loose tooth is adult or baby tooth.  (+ info)

How can you tell the difference between loss of tooth enamel and staining?

I have some marks on my front teeth that sound like tooth enamel loss. However, they have come on quite quickly (over a few months). How can I tell if this is staining from tea and coffee or tooth enamel loss? Can enamel loss happen that quickly?

How long does periodontitis take to result in tooth loss?

From the time that one develops periodontal disease, what is the length of time (on average) it takes for the disease (without receiving professional dental treatment) to result in the first tooth loss?
----------

It's a silent killer because periodontitis doesn't hurt. Usually I see it in patients in their fifties, but I've seen it in patients in their twenties. The chief complaint is that they can't chew with certain teeth b/c it moves around too much. Or they can't chew on a certain side b/c they have a massive infection around the teeth. Extractions is the usual treatment for severe periodontitis.

This is the most frustrating disease b/c it's 100% preventable and 100% manageable (periodontitis never goes away, you have to manage it if you get it, like diabetes). Regular dental visits 2 times a year even if nothing hurts. This disease won't hurt in the beginning. Brush and floss and if you don't know how to do it properly just google it.

I think many of my patients truly underestimate it because they don't want to pay for an office visit, check up x-rays, and a cleaning. Their mentality is, if it doesn't hurt, I don't have a problem. Once they get the disease, they're unhappy because I can't "fix it" for them, I can only tell them how to manage it.  (+ info)

What would you do if you couldn't chew your food due to tooth loss if both dentures and implants failed?

In the worst case scenario of both dentures and implants failing and being unable to chew due to tooth loss, what kind of foods could you eat to get enough calories to maintain your weight? Can pretty much any food be grinded down in a blender? Are blenders strong enough to grind down meats, fruits and veggies?
----------

yep. baby food could be the answer. But, my granddad had no teeth and he ate everything. Meat, he just cut it small like for a child, and chewed just like he had teeth. Said it worked for him. He had false teeth, but, didn't like them.  (+ info)

Can anyone tell me if there is any connection to hair loss & novicane from having a tooth pulled?

A friend of mine has noticed that she is experiencing frequent hair loss. I checked on the internet for her and found among some of the causes can be due too, recent surgery or medicines etc. She had a toothe pulled just a few weeks ago, could there be any connection here? Could this be a cause to her hair loss?
----------

There could be a connection there.but it's more likely due to elevated stress hormones from the trauma. One physiological reaction to trauma is the body flushing glutamine from muscles and organs. One more response would be elevated cortisol,a stress hormone that's also an androgen antagonist. These things coupled with lower selenium in the blood and the possibility that she's eating less now are the most likely factors.
If it's patchy hair loss it will only be temporary and the hair will regrow in time.Taking vitamin C promoteds circulation to the scalp, biotin the health of the folicle and lack of selenium is linked to non pattern hair loss.
She should also use Selsun Blue for a few weeks as the active ingredient is selenium sulfide. There are several factors that could definitely contribute to her hair loss.Products from Shen Min will be far more effective than womans Rogaine as well as faster.  (+ info)

How does bone loss after tooth extraction work?

If you get one tooth - a bottom molar - extracted, do you only lose bone from under that tooth? or do you lose bone from your whole jaw and get and get a "sunken in" look of the entire face? what else changes with the face? I might need to get one extracted and I'm concerned because I'm really self concious already :-(
----------

the only reason the bone is there is to hold in that tooth. you can expect 1/4 inch resorption of the bone in that area. If you do not floss or have your teeth cleaned the bacteria from not flossing will eat away the rest and you can look forward to loose teeth and very stinky breath. the tooth that is directly above the tooth will gradually drift down into the missing tooth space. the teeth on both sides will gradually drift toward the hole and lean forward making it harder to keep clean. usually if you only have one tooth taken out in the back no one can tell by looking at you. that part is not a real issue. so get out the floss. in the future you can replace the missing tooth and bone if you wish depending on your finances there are several solutions that range 2 to 5 thousand dollars approx. hope it works out for you  (+ info)
