Is there a link between tooth loss and incontinence?

I was thinking baby's start to potty train and becoming more aware of needing to use the bathroom around the time they are gaining teeth so wouldn't the opposite affect be true for older people?
----------

No. Tooth loss has Absolutely NOTHING to do with incontinence.

You are either just thinking up some random ideas or have no knowledge of basic human anatomy, biology, or histology.

You learn to potty train because that it what you are TAUGHT. Incontinence is actual loss of muscle control. It is not that they don't want to use the bathroom like everyone else, it is just that they physically can't hold it. Incontinence can happen to someone that has all of their real teeth.

The teeth are complete irrelevant when it comes to muscle control.  (+ info)

Could tooth loss be associated with Fibromyalgia?

Since I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia I have lost 3 teeth. I wonder if there is any connection or if anyone else has noticed the same problem.
----------

probaly not teh fibro itself--but as others have said-could be related--such as side effects of meds or clenching your teeth

the acid theory may be true to a point--but that is not fibro--that is a different medical condition  (+ info)

I am having a porcelain veneer put on my front tooth in 2 weeks due to the loss of my front tooth.?

The dentist put a temporary tooth on in the meantime and it looks TERRIBLE. Is he a bad dentist or is this normal because the tooth is only a temporary replacement? it is whiter than all my other teeth and looks like a BIG square chiclet. (the gum) I'm worried because the veneer is going on 5 days before my wedding reception!
----------

You shouldn't be too worried. Temporary crowns are made of cheap plastic material that matches the colour spectrum of natural teeth, especially front teeth, only just. The shape is not perfect as the main purpose of a temporary crown is to protect the remainder of your tooth. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to eat, drink or breathe through your mouth. A tooth that is prepared for a crown is extremely sensitive. Unless, of course, you had root canal beforehand. There is a saying among dentists: Your temporary crowns mustn't look too good. Your patient might not come back.

So, relax, eventually your dentist will do a good job!  (+ info)

Could years of having an infected molar tooth affect weight loss in the face (looking gaunt)?

This tooth which has now had root canal treatment has probably been infected for about 5 years and during this time the face of this person who is otherwise in very good health has lost a lot of weight and this person looks gaunt. Is is possiblt that years of having an infected tooth caused this gaunt look?

I have bone loss due to an infection in my front tooth.. Is there a way to save my front tooth?

Yes, I am seeing a dentist, but I'm seeking your professional opinion here, my Yahoo Dental expert.
----------

Things that a dentist might could do : 1) Bone graft 2) Use composit to link that tooth to the ones beside it to keep it stable while other options are looked at such as a Bone graft 3) pull it and do an implant or a bridge depending on how much bone loss there is Go to more than one Dentist and select the one that will do what you can afford and can live with; all options are good but some are $$$ and some may fail too.  (+ info)

Has anyone ever heard of an abscessed tooth causing vision loss?

I have a really weird situation. About 7 years ago I was flossing a cracked tooth and must have hit a nerve because I had severe throbbing for like 3 days. It would go away and come back, go away and come back. Some of the gum would be hanging through the tooth and then sometimes the swelling would go down and it would go away. A couple of years later I noticed that I'd get an abscess on the gum right above that tooth. A year and a half ago I noticed that I was having problems with my left eye (the tooth is upper and on the left side). The vision was blurred and it would come and go. Then, last year, the vision was blurred and stayed blurred. To date, I cannot read anything out of my left eye unless it is in VERY LARGE text. Last year, I went to an Opthamologist and he diagnosed me with central Retinal Vein Occlusion. The thing is I am 30 and it's most common in people 60 or over. My left eye is extremely blurred and has pressure in it. I told him about my tooth and he ...
Does not feel the two are related. He said he has never heard of anything like that. I have asked several doctors and they say the same thing. I asked an Oral Surgeon and he said he has heard of something like this. I went to a Hematologist to have blood work done, and she also said she didn't feel that I had Retinal Vein Occlusion. I am having other symptoms that aren't associated with that disease. It is supposed to be painless, but I have pressure and aching in my left eye. I also had a CAT scan of my brain and they didn't see any abcesses. The blook work came back normal as well. But what's weird is that I KNOW something is wrong with my eye other than Retinal Vein Occlusion.

Has anybody ever heard of this or has anybody ever heard of an abscessed tooth causing vision loss.

Any suggestions as to what I should do or who I should see. The Opthamologist suggested I come in every 6 weeks to make sure there's no new veins growing, but there's no treatment for RVO.
----------

You need to get a second opinion ASAP. About a year ago a boy died from similar conditions because his dentist missed a rare infection. 2nd opinion.. no exceptions! There are several nerves that run from the jaw up as well, but this is not something to wait on passively!  (+ info)

Is early tooth loss correlated with early puberty?

Or late tooth loss correlated with late puberty?

Daughter is barely 5 and just lost her first tooth. I'm curious whether this means anything about the future in regards to her body maturing.
----------

No. Teeth come out when they are ready. There is nothing to predict why they have or have not come in early or late. It has nothing to do with the development of the rest of her body. It also does not mean the rest will be early.

Also it is not to early for her to lose one. 5 and 6 is usully when it starts.  (+ info)

How does leaving a cavity untreated lead to tooth loss?

The cavity gets deeper until it hits the root, causing a toothache and eventually tooth loss if it isn't taken care of at that point.  (+ info)
