how can you cope with essential tremor?

I have it in my legs and arms and its driving me crazy,
Thanks for the answer, I think i have an iron defenciency because when you have an iron defensiency you could develope tremors. They help the nerves in some way i forgot. My question is, is there any benefit to eating frozen processed meat that has iron in it? Or is processed food just doesn't count as real food?

It is an involuntary head shake like a shiver it lasts about 2 seconds. It happened again today after a feeding .
my baby is a girl
----------

my child did the same thing. I took my child to a nuerologist and they said its sometimes caused by them trying to balance their heads. Since at 10 weeks they are trying to lift their heads and look around. Its a balance thing. Now if it gets worse call your ped. I hope that helps!  (+ info)

What is causing my leg tremor/spasm?

I'm only 17 years old but for the past few days, I've had what appears to be a tremor/spasm on the side of my left leg. It's not exactly painful but it is bothersome. You can actually see my leg spasming out. I don't exercise or do any strenuous work. It usually happens at rest. Does anyone have any insight on what it could possibly be?
----------

It is the lack of exercise that is doing this to you. Restless leg syndrome I believe they call it. Without getting your body any exercise it is going to build up the waste materials in your body because only a good exercise routine is going to move them out of your system. When they do build up they are going to hamper the body's ability to function properly, they are shorting out the regular routes of messages and that is going to leave your legs doing the tremor part. They want to be reconnected with the rest of your body. Only you can make that happen. You should be jogging or swimming for 15 minutes a day or fast walking with the big swinging of the arms to help yourself get out of this problem. Also drinking lots of water and cutting out the sugars would be a help to your body.  (+ info)

Has anyone ever had a neck tremor?

I have developed a head/neck tremor--an involuntary, slight movement of the head from side-to-side (like shaking your head "no"). It seems to be in synch with my pulse, and is most noticeable when I am being still. I thought at first it was muscle-related, a simple strain of my neck muscles from manual labor, but it has gone on for over a month. Has anyone had this experience, and what did you do for it?

Is ambien useful to persons w/ parkinson's disease, not only for sleep difficulties, but also tremor issues?

I vaguely remember hearing something about this on The NBC Nightly News, but it was a while back.
----------

Most of the benzodiazepines are probably not the best choice for Parkinson's patients. Fortunately, Ambien is a non-benzodiazepine although it works in the same way by enhancing th actions of the neurotransmitter GABA which in turn inhibits transmission of nerve signals. The non-benzodiazapine class to which Ambien (Zolipidem) belongs is a bit more specific in its inhibitory actions which is why it might be "safer."

Some neuros do not prescribe it for their PD patients - some do. It has been known to cause morning grogginess, hallucinations and short term amnesia and may can cause dependence or addiction...because many people just pop it at night - every night.

In 2007 the FDA required a change of labeling for all sedative-hypnotics and Ambien, which appears to be fairly popular was included in the group.

Here is a good link to information about Ambien - read the sidebar info:
http://www.revolutionhealth.com/pages/all-about-ambien

You can read more at Patients Like Me where I only saw 1 person with PD using it currently.

About PD tremor and Ambien, read the abstract below in which the drug induced tremors abated while on "Ambien" and reappeared at discontinuation, with the result that it was reintroduced:

In the next link, a patient speaks about tremors abating while on Ambien.
