i had an echo doppler on my heart today what is Mitral Valve & Tricuspid Valve - Regurgitation Trivial mean??

I want to join the police force and am having a medical and would like to know what these items mean, and wether i should be worried or are they nothing?
Thanks

It means that there is a trivial amount of backflow of blood thru both of these valves. The abnormal flow of blood is backwards from the ventricles back to the atria, I use the pleural because it involves 2 valves. Only you know if this medical information will keep you off the force, and since it is so small, it may not even show up as a heart murmur. To put your mind at ease you would want to talk to a doctor, but it does not sound like it is a problem currently. Check back when you get older as heart valves tend to get stiffer, and calcify with age and this may become a larger leak as you age.  (+ info)

why does mitral valve prolapse occur more often then tricuspid prolapse?

Mitral valve has large area leaflets and the left atrial pressure is small. This leads to the valve seeing a large pressure differential across it.

compare the structure of the tricuspid valve with that of hte pulmonary valve?

The tricuspid valve has 3 leaflets, termed the anterior, the septal, and the posterior leaflet; all named for their anatomical position. The leaflets are connected to a respective papillary muscle, also bearing the same name respectively. The pulmonic valve also has 3 leaflets, or "cusps" as they are more often known as, which are termed the right, the left, and the anterior cusp. They also have corresponding papillary muscles of the same names, just like with the tricuspid valve.  (+ info)

What is the flow of blood from the bicuspid valve to the tricuspid valve by way of the great toe??

Help, my anatomy class is straining my brain..

Are you being serious? All blood flows through the entire body, that is what keeps the cells alive, with "food" and oxygen. The blood from your body comes from your body, deoxygenated, into the heart, by way of the Vena Cava. Then, it goes from the tricuspid valve, into the Left chamber of the heart, through the pulmonic valve and into the lungs. Here, the blood is re-oxygenated. Then, it travel through the mitral valve into the right chamber of the heart, past the aortic valve, back into the bloodstream, to feed the cells of your body. If you are having problems with your great toe, specify what the problems are. They could be a number of things, but the most common is gout, which is a very painful condition. Somehow, the body doesn't process protein as it should, and uric acid builds up in the body, forms crystals, and causes horrible pain, it usually starts in the toes or feet. If that is what you have, eat lots of fresh cherries. For some reason, this well help metabolize the crystals, and help you return to some state of "normal," whatever that might be!

suggest how a weak tricuspid valve may cause a person to tire easily?

Weak tricuspid valve may lead to tricuspid insufficiency. Easy tiredness may indicate pulmonary hypertension. Fatigue may be due to diminished cardiac output.  (+ info)

Does anyone on here have aortic insufficiency/leaky valve?

If so when were you diagnosed and what have you had done so far? My baby has this and we expect at some point that he will have surgery to repair or replace the valve, and its very scary. However our cardiologist keeps assuring us that everything will be fine as his valve defect is the result of bicuspid aortic valve and not "diseased" or whatever, just looking for support I guess. Thanks!

i've had 2 open heart surgerys the 2nd one they put a mechanical heart valve in me because i had leakage, its been like 2 yrs i think but i still have to have blood work done 1 or 2 times a week depends on if my blood is too thick or to thin i'm not able to do the things i used to do,but the mechanical heart valve is doing ok in me i had to register it in case they have a recall on it.but it works and other than that i'm doing fine.hope this help some, and God Bless You & your Baby take care.  (+ info)

why does the right side of the heart has tricuspid valve while the left side has a bicuspid valve??

Because that is just how the heart is. Why do we have 2 eyes, but only one nose and one mouth? It isn't like it was some human decision to make us that way. It is because it is.  (+ info)

what is the effect of having a weak tricuspid valve on our cardiovascular system?

effect of it to our heart and to our body

will mytral valve prolapse with tricuspid valve regurgitation cause complications with swine flu?

  (+ info)

What is tricuspid valve regurgitation?

In this condition, the valve does not close properly and blood flows back into the right atrium. It is often associated with or due to an enlarged right ventricle. The most common reason for leakage of this valve is high pulmonary pressures caused by a damaged mitral valve. This enlargement may also be related to a severe, long-standing lung disorder, such as emphysema or pulmonary hypertension, or by a narrowing of the pulmonary valve (pulmonary stenosis). When the right ventricle enlarges and thickens so that it can pump harder, the valve opening stretches.  (+ info)
